I have a question about posting replies. Now, I'm not sure if someone else posted a question about this, I don't think so, but if so, sorry I reposted. Anyways, my question is about double posts. Is there anyway I can post in the same thread twice without the posts being merged? It just really annoys me when the double posts merge. It looks as if its one really big message, especially if I'm quoting a long post, or two in this case. I get that if there isn't a way to change this it probably won't get changed just for me. It just bothers me for some reason, that's all. So, is there any way I can prevent the posts from merging.

Uh, why are you posting twice in the first place? I mean, the only reason to post twice would be in like the ROM Hacking sections or Art Gallery section or similar where you post twice in a row to update your own thread... but after a certain amount of time double posts don't merge regardless, so whatever update you had might as well have been edited into the first post. If you're going to quote multiple posts, just use the multi-quote button and such.

Like Vrai said, we have a rule against double posting, so the merge system is there to prevent us from having to clean up double posts all over the place, and the posts shouldn't merge after a certain time period. There are only certain forums which allow double posting, so you need to check the rules of each individual forum for those exceptions.

@[email protected] Speaking of double-posting the forum has been trying to duplicate my posts automatically for some reason >_> And YES.. I hit the reply button only once.

What if I want to reply to someone with a quote, but also just post a reply without quoting? That's probably covered in the rules, huh?
You can do both in the same post. Just use your wording to differentiate between your response to the quote and your reply to the general topic.

You can also just hit enter a couple of times and people can usually pick up when you're changing from responding to a quote and to the overall topic.

Or post your reply before the quote tag.

As for when the server hiccups while you're posting and makes you double post, don't worry about that. It's usually pretty obvious so if you don't delete it yourself, mods'll just routinely get rid of that and there's no warnings for it or anything. :( Just an unavoidable issue for now.

The only time they won't be merged is if they're either a) legitimately too big for the word limit (which is pretty big lol) or b) long enough apart, which is a time I don't really know ._.
Everything ends,
and that's always sad.
But everything begins again, too,
and that's always happy.
