Y'know, I forgot I promised to post some of my other poetry (which is currently housed on my dA). A lot of them are short poems, so I figured it'd be best to stick them in one thread. b)'')b As usual, most of them are free verse, but the first one is a haiku. (Yes, I know I'm abusing the form, but hey.)

Comments of any sort are really cool.

I was...

I was that one *****
who clapped when you left the room.
I'm very sorry.

True Story

I woke up from a nap today
At 6:37
On a Wednesday evening
And had trouble figuring out
Not whether or not it was Thursday
But instead what my name was.

Don't Get Me Wrong

Don't get me wrong–
I'm listening to you.
There's just a Berlin Wall
Between you and me
Made of concrete and hand-prints
With rainbow bathroom graffiti on your side
And the nasal voice of Stalin on mine.
It's nothing personal.
It's just the way I was raised.

Insecticide
When ants die, they remind me a little
             of New Jersey, bodies curled,
                 heads bent down over the
                         abdomen, legs pulled
                             close to the thorax,
                                     with both ends
                                          cartoonish--
                                                  bigger
                                                than the
                                          skinny, black
                             middles-- now lifeless,
silent, still, when it was once
           infested with a natural pandemic
of heartbeats and pheromones enraged.
Professional ninja. May or may not actually be back. Here for the snark and banter at most.

I Was - ...I can't think of anything to say.
True Story - Is this really a true story? I can't imagine how'd that be possible. Nice job, though.
Don't Get Me Wrong - This one seems to have an unknown bit of humor to me. I don't know. Nice job.
Insecticide - A funny structure you've used. I like it!

It is. It's a poem about identity. You know, knowing exactly who you are at all times, not just on a literal level but also in terms of gender, religion, sexuality, and so on and so forth. (That and I was very drowsy at the time.) Thanks, though.

Thanks. XD It's probably because it's very blunt, although it actually is supposed to deal with a lot of other darker themes. (Namely, communication on an obvious level; slightly less obviously, the feeling of being controlled; and even less obviously, being judged by one's viewpoint of the world. I can't tell you how many times I've been labeled as being ignorant just because I'm not as liberal as my friends.) It just has a little bit of sarcasm on the side because the speaker is pissed off that zir message isn't getting through.

Thanks, but I do have to say that it's concrete poetry meant to resemble a dead ant.
