The last non-triggery poem on my dA.

Spoiler:
Hint on reading this: Like a lot of my other poetry, it's a little bit more serious than it looks. Cookies to the reviewer who figures out the theme this time.

[AGELIMIT]anyone but the easily offended. This poem talks about naked chicks bathing themselves[/AGELIMIT]

Scrub

She always likes warm showers
but takes scalding ones when she's upset
because she always felt more comfortable
in warm than in cold
(she believes
that the reason is very Freudian in nature
and has to do
with the tight clench of a mother's womb
not that she longs to be a mother
or misses her own all that much)
and the way she used to bathe
was with a washcloth--
soft and spongy--
because that was the way her mother taught her,
but as of recent,
she began to use a bath puff
because she likes the way
it scrubs against her
almost painfully
like it's taking off
all her skin
layer
by
layer
until
she
scratches
away
all
the
dirt,
but her privates
she does by hand
and she does last
because under the warm water
watching the soap spiral down
the stainless-steel drain
she feels that it's the only way
she can get to know herself.
Professional ninja. May or may not actually be back. Here for the snark and banter at most.

Peeling her skin off layer by layer makes me think she isn't too fond of what people see, or if she feels dirty maybe someone(people?) have touched her sexually. Her vagina might be what she feels is the only thing that defines her as a woman. Or in retrospect, maybe she's a virgin and feels like this is the only way she'll ever really know herself. Scalding hot water is indeed a form of warmth, something maybe she can't seem to find in anyone. So, she tries scrubbing off her own skin hoping to peel off what other people find so repulsive about her.

Idk. I can't think of a single theme that would really fit this besides feeling 'alone' forever or 'knowing yourself' both inside and out.

Even if I don't get a cookie though, at least I have pie.

tell me later? pretty please with sugar on top?
