a) it's in the no-eggs egg group, and b) it's the lowest of its evolutionary line - that's enough. While I haven't played the TCG beyond a few forays messing about, I don't really think you can apply its rules and customs to the video games, because it's a completely different ballgame.

... Eh, I see it as a baby Pokemon, for the reasons stated by the above member. But also due to the fact that in the original G/S/C, it could only be received from an Egg, which makes it count to me. And it is so darn cute (and in theory all unevolved Pokemon that could be evolved that hatch from an egg could be called Baby Pokemon. They evolve into something bigger, so are kinda like children, for example Charmander. Cute little critter, evolves into a dragon-like thing eventually. In reality, David Attenborough would call it a baby or a child, so why can't we...)

But that is my opinion. Feel free to argue with it, but I won't really respond as you believe what you want. Unless you try to force your opinion onto me.

Togepi is a baby pokemon. I've been in an argument about it over in the roleplay section, in the thread The Red plague. Also, you can only get it if you hatch an egg containing Togepi. You can only get most baby pokemon by hatching them.

I know I'm all for you saying it is a baby, but if we count D/P/Pt as well, it can be received from Swarms in a route, instead of an egg. Which I found weird. But for the most part, it is found in an egg, and if I recall was the Pokemon that the Pokemon Company first used to illustrate baby Pokemon anyway.

Of course it is a baby Pokemon. Maybe it was because this card was made before 'baby' Pokemon were introduced? And also, it's in an egg. 'Nuff said.

Seems like the perfect baby pokémon to me.

I think the problem with the TGC is, the only make baby pokémon, "Baby" if they were introduced a generation or more after it's evolution - take that cleffa for example, it's evolution was in generation 1, cleffa is from generation 2.

Another reason could just be the TGC is wrong. xD
There was nothing. Followed by everything. Swirling, burning specks of creation that circled life-giving suns. And then we reached to the light.

However consider the fact that many breed pokemon and nearly all can be hatched from eggs. So if I bred a pidgeyand it hatched form an egg, iit's classified as a baby pokemon?

I only classify baby pokemon to be pokemon that have been released before the next evolution.

For example:

Say Ivysaur was invented - which it is- but bulbasaur isn't. Say it's invented in the year 2000. Say the next year they create a pre-evolution for Ivysaur... bulbasaur. Because the bu;basauris a pre-evolution of Ivysaur in this case and it was released after Ivysaur, I classify it as a baby pokemon.

However, TCG wise my view is sketchy.

If you look at the top of the cleffa card it says "Baby pokemon count as basic pokemon".

No. That Togepi card was printed in the first set to include "Baby Pokemon", so that's not the reason.

This is precisely why the "Baby Pokemon" classification exists in the TCG in the first place. The lowest stage is classified as a Basic Pokemon, though when there's an even lower stage introduced a generation or two later, that new lowest stage becomes a "Baby Pokemon" in the TCG, since the evolution already is a "Basic Pokemon", and they're not gonna change a Pokemon's classification just because of something introduced later.

It can't breed, therefore it's a baby Pokemon.

Some people don't care about the TCG, XD the activity in that forum proves it.
HEY NOW. THE ACTIVITY THERE HAS MORE TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT THIS SITE IS VIDEO GAME ORIENTED THAN LACK OF INTEREST. That and I'm too lazy to generate more activity there myself
