Trying again...

Pokémon FireRed Version
Nuzlocke Challenge

Chapter #1 - Road to the Boulderbadge!

Last time I played on FireRed, it wasn't very successful so now I am trying this again. I started off my file and named myself John, and then ran out into the fields but Oak stopped me and took me to his lab. I decided to choose Squirtle, who I named Max. I then took on my rival, Green, and after a Tail Whip I used Tackle until his Bulbasaur fainted.

I then started to head to Viridian City, and on the way ran into my first wild Pokémon, a Pidgey. Sadly, I had no PokéBalls so I couldn't catch it. I found a few other wild Pokémon and Max eventually leveled up to Level 7. I decided I should go to the mart to buy some PokéBalls, but the nice clerk asked me to deliver a Parcel to Oak. I did so and back in Pallet Town, after I delivered the parcel, Oak gave me and Green a PokéDex and 5 PokéBalls. I thanked him and head back to Viridian. On Route 22, I found a wild Mankey, and caught that with my PokéBall and named it Kevin. I grinded it to the same level as Max, Level 9. I wanted one other Pokémon before I faced Green again, so I head to Route 2, where I accidentally killed a wild Rattata. I head into Viridina Forest and caught a Level 3 Caterpie who I named James. While grinding, though, Caterpie collapsed under pressure and died. We took a rest at the Pokémon Center after that very solemn event, and decided that the forces that we had now were enough to take on Green. Alas, they were, but Mankey had very severe cuts and bruises, but the Pokémon Center was able to restore him before anything deadly happened.

We head back into Viridian Forest, giving us all bad memories of our fallen friend, and took out our sadness on every Bug Catcher in there without a problem. We popped out on the northern section of Route 2, and strolled into Pewter City where we healed our injuries. We decided that we should raise our levels a little bit, and after both of the Pokémon were at Level 12, we head into the Pewter Gym, where the Camper was promptly destroyed. We head back to the Pokémon Center one last time, healed, and head to face Brock. Kevin used 4 Karate Chop attacks and it was over. We had won the Boulderbadge!

Challenge accepted. I'll be doing my run in HeartGold, I'm choosing Cyndaquil, and I'll follow the following rules: 1, 3, 5, 6, 7.

Notes: I'll only catch side legends for the pokedex entry.
I'm using an actual DS, so prepare for less pictures and more word walls.

Chapter 1: The Beginning
Spoiler:
Obtained a male Cyndaquil, named it Pyro.
I obtain the running shoes.
I'm sure the first Pokemon rule doesn't count since I can't get pokeballs yet.
I named my rival dirt. I'm with a Lv. 7 Male Cynaquil so far.

Time to update my Nuzlocke challenge in Leafgreen! After beating Brock and catching Globus the Pidgey, we ventured cautiously into the cold and threatening Mt. Moon...

Progress so far:
Spoiler:

We gained a new friend in Mt. Moon - not a Zubat, but a male Geodude! His name is Ravel, and he was invaluable in mowing down the hordes of winged frustration.
Eld the Beedrill had a dangerous run-in against Lass Iris and her Clefairy, but managed to hold on and clinch the battle.
Hecate the Rattata learned Hyper Fang, and together with Ravel they handily dealt with the Rockets. Even the final villain's Raticate fell to a Magnitude from Ravel.

The six of us reached fresh air again after picking up a strange, dome-like fossil... there we met two rather strange men, dressed in white. They grunted and groaned, and offered to teach my pokemon to punch and kick with amazing power. Ravel the Geodude learned Mega Punch, and Riptide, now a Wartortle, learned Mega Kick.

Our new friend for Route 4 was a male Spearow, whom I named Wario. Fearing the creepy spiky-haired boy who would be waiting on Nugget Bridge, my party and I knuckled down to grind. Hel the Rattata was placed in the PC at level 17 to make room for Wario in the party.
Globus soon evolved into Pidgeotto, and Hecate into Raticate. Yet it was not long before disaster struck...

In battle with a Rattata 4 levels lower than him, Wario was the victim of a cruel trick of fate. The foe surely must have been related to Joey's Rattata, as it landed a double consecutive critical hit with a Quick Attack before Wario could subdue it with Fury Attack.

And Wario fell, never to rise again. We put up a small stone marker where he last rested, and spent a day in mourning before redoubling our training efforts to avenge his life.

Many a Rattata was beaten into submission after that incident.

With my party at level 17-20, we challenged Pedo on Nugget Bridge. Ravel the Geodude led off, crushing his with well-aimed rock projectiles. Globus the Pidgeotto bravely challenged the Ivysaur, eventually blowing it away with gusts from its majestic wings. Abra and Rattata were no problem to dispatch with my team's morale flying high. Pedo marched off in a huff, after 'gifting' us an item he deemed useless and telling us to see a Pokemaniac at the Cape.

The Nugget Bridge trainers fell in the blink of an eye.

A wonderful new companion joined our team on Route 24: a female Bellsprout whom we named Weedeater. She licked a few Hikers to grow to level 17, while the rest of my team (sans Hel, once again in the PC) took down the other Route25 trainers. We encountered another Bellsprout there, but a merciless critical hit from Eld made it bite the dust. I think she must be jealous.

Now at the Cerulean Cape, a young couple told me I looked lonely on my own there. I replied I was never alone if my pokemon were with me. They just nodded.

We knocked on Bill's door and were answered by a Clefairy! Startled, Riptide Mega Kicked it straight in the gut, sending it flying into a stack of notebooks. Climbing back up, it proclaimed that it was Bill himself, transformed into a Clefairy. Convinced that Weedeater must have gotten a little Stun-Spore into my water bottle, I nevertheless placed the little pink pokemaniac in his machine and ran it. Lo and behold out stepped a rather winded-looking young man!
He looked warily at Riptide and thrust a cruise ticket into my hand, muttering his thanks. He quickly shepherded us out the door, leaving every one of us utterly confounded.
To this moment I don't know what happened to that poor Clefairy.

After heading back to Cerulean Central, we decided we weren't quite ready for the red-headed gym leader. Weedeater and Globus trained a little on a thieving rocket, and then we headed through the Gym doors to test our luck.

I failed to notice that I had nothing stronger than a Potion in my pack.

Anyhow, Weedeater Vine-Whipped Misty's entourage into oblivion, growing to level 18 in the process. Feeling fairly confident, we confronted her. The battle proceeded thus:

Misty sent out Staryu!
Go, Weedeater!
Staryu used Water Pulse!
Weedeater used Vine Whip!
Staryu used Water Pulse!
Weedeater used Vine Whip!
Staryu fainted!
Misty sent out Starmie!
Come back, Weedeater!
Go, Riptide!
Starmie used Water Pulse!
Riptide is confused...
Riptide used Mega Kick!
Starmie used Water Pulse!
Riptide snapped out of it!
Riptide used Mega Kick!
Starmie used Recover! (Fffffuuuuuuu...)
Riptide used Mega Kick!
It missed...
Starmie used Recover!
Riptide used Mega Kick!
It missed...
Come back, Riptide!
Go, Hecate!
Starmie used Swift!
Starmie used Swift!
Hecate used Scary Face!
Hecate used Hyper Fang!
Starmie used Swift!
Come back, Hecate!
Go, Globus!
Starmie used Water Pulse! (That hurt...)
Globus used Sand Attack!
Starmie used Swift!
Come back, Globus!
Go, Eld!
Starmie used Recover!
Eld used Fury Attack!
Starmie used Water Pulse!
Used Potion on Weedeater...
Starmie used Rapid Spin!
But it missed!
Come back, Eld!
Go, Weedeater!
Starmie used Water Pulse!
Weedeater used Sleep Powder!
Starmie fell asleep!
Weedeater used Vine Whip!
Weedeater used Vine Whip!
Misty used a Super Potion!!!
Weedeater used Vine Whip!
Weedeater used Vine Whip!
Starmie woke up!
Starmie used Water Pulse!
Weedeater used Vine Whip!
STARMIE FAINTED!

And thus, after a long an arduous battle, with our highest level being 20, we defeated Misty with no casualties.

That is were I shall leave you for now.

Ignore what I said a few posts above.
I'll be doing the challenge in Emerald, not Crystal.

Anyway, I've just started, and got myself a female Treecko, which I named Scout.

Kanto - Johto - Hoenn - Sinnoh - Unova
Solo Challenge- Arbok - Red
Nuzlocke Challenge - Crystal

There's nothing for me here...

Pokemon Blue:
The Nuzlocke Challenge

Rules:

1. If a Pokemon Faints, its dead, release it.
2. You can only catch/recieve one Pokemon in each Area. A town is one area, a route is one area, a cave is one area, etc. Should you fail to catch a Pokemon for any reason (other than game corruption) than too bad.
3. You must nickname all of your Pokemon (optional, but highly reccomended)
4. No catching legendaries.
5. Trading is disallowed, but the reasons following this clause are allowed. Egg trading is okay, same thing with Pokemon that can't have eggs. (optional) Trading simply for the purpose of evolution is perfectly OK.
6. You can only use normal Pokemon balls to capture Pokemon (Safari balls are the only exception)
7. Though gyms - once when you enter a gym, you can't go out unless you beat the gym leader and you have to beat all trainers
8. You can't run away from wild Pokes unless your Pokemon's ability is Run Away (self destructing Geodudes will be a pain in the neck)
9. Each Pokemon can't be less than 5 levels lower than the highest level Pokemon

That's my sign up form and also my format for the future updates.

I'm actually starting a challenge in Emerald now.

This is what I've got so far:

>Started the game, named myself Moon (yeah...)
>Defeated that Zogzagoon and picked Treecko, which I named Lorenzo
>Went through Routes 101 and 103 to May, who was defeated easily.
>Got the Pokédex and went to Route 102, where I caught a Poochyena called Youngblood.
>Went through Route 102 and got to Petalburg, where I helped Wally catch his annoying rare Ralts -.-
>Trekked to Petalburg Woods through Route 104 - encountered a Poochyena there but decided not to catch it.
>Reached Petalburg Woods. Found ANOTHER Poochyena but decided against catching it.
>Battled Bug Catcher Lyle and Youngblood died to his second Wurmple, at lv. 5. RIP Youngblood ;_;
>Continued on through Petalburg Woods with just Lorenzo, defeating the Team Aqua Grunt and that annoyance James.
>Went though the north of Route 104 toward Rustboro City, skipping a few Trainers for training later.
>After healing in Rustboro City, headed automatically to Route 116 instead of going to the Gym
>Upon reaching Route 116 I found a Skitty on the first try! Caught him and named him Cook (after the character from Skins)
>Headed back to Route 104 to rebattle those trainers and train Cook to lv. 10.
>Now we're at Rustboro City Gym, about to take it on with our trusty Treecko, Lorenzo and Skitty, Cook.

TEAM:

Lorenzo - lv. 12

Cook, lv. 10

THE GRAVEYARD:

Youngblood - lv. 5

I'll update more later, since I'm still playing atm.

Game: Pokemon Heart Gold

Rules:
1. If a Pokemon Faints, its dead, release it.
3. You can only catch/recieve one Pokemon in each Area. A town is one area, a route is one area, a cave is one area, etc. Should you fail to catch a Pokemon for any reason (other than game corruption) than too bad.

6. Trading is disallowed, but the reasons following this clause are allowed. Egg trading is okay, same thing with Pokemon that can't have eggs. (optional) Trading simply for the purpose of evolution is perfectly OK.
*I am also adding another rule for myself: no duplicates. That is, if the first Pokemon I run into on a route is one that I already have in my party, I am not allowed to catch it, and that route is over. Tough luck!

Progress:
Spoiler:
  • Acquired Cyndaquil from Elm (nicknamed Rush)
  • Grinded Rush in the grass until I got to Mr. Pokemon's house
  • Got the Pokedex from Oak
  • Barely beat my rival... his Totodile got a Critical Hit and nearly knocked out Rush, but I got lucky and won before he could finish. Phew.
  • Got back to New Bark, named my rival Markus, delivered the egg to Elm, and Lyra taught me how to catch Pokemon. Like I didn't already know. Got some Pokeballs.
  • Caught Pidgey (nicknamed Tebow... yes, that is a reference lol)
  • Worked my way past Cherrygrove, and ran into another Pidgey, but since I couldn't catch it, I just KO'd it for some exp.
  • I grinded Rush up to level 10 so he would learn Ember, then did some training on Tebow since he was only at level 2.
  • Entered Route 31, though "hey, this is a great chance for me to catch something new!" Well, ran into a Caterpie, and friggin Tebow Critical'd it :/ so nope, no Caterpie for me.
  • Got to Violet City. Taking on Sprout Tower.
  • Inside Sprout Tower, I caught a Rattata (nicknamed Cooke). Beat all the trainers, but had to heal a couple time en route to the top.
  • Took on the Elder at the top in my toughest battle yet. Or well, supposedly. Rush burned both Bellsprouts with Ember, but Hoothoot gave me the most trouble. Cooke couldn't get the job done, so he's my first casualty. Tebow finished off the job with Gust.
  • Next update, I'll take on Falkner.

Team:
Spoiler:

Rush the Cyndaquil, Level 12 (M)
Met at Elm's Lab

Tebow the Pidgey, Level 11 (M)
Met on Route 29

Spoiler:
None yet!

Progress:
Spoiler:
  • After grinding outside Violet City for ages, I evolved Rush into Quilava and leveled both Pokes up to 15-16. Now to take on Falkner.
  • First up, Falkner's Pidgey versus Tebow. I had the edge in levels here, so a couple of Gusts did the job no problem.
  • Pidgeotto was harder. I still had the level advantage, but Pidgeotto was pretty strong and kept using Roost. That got annoying fast. Seriously, three Roosts in a row... I had to use a Potion on Tebow to keep him from fainting ._. And then Tebow got down to about 5HP so I switched to Rush, who struck with Ember a few times to win it. Phew.
  • I got the Egg from Elm, then headed south to Route 32.
  • First Pokemon I come across is a Bellsprout. I haven't trained a Bellsprout since Pokemon Gold on my GBC. Well, I guess that's the fun in this challenge! Caught it and nicknamed her Venus.
  • Grinded all the way down Route 32 until I got the Pokemon Center, then went back and grinded some more! Grinding is fun!
  • Tebow evolved. Now onto Union Cave.
  • Caught a Zubat on the first try, nicknamed him Batman.
  • Grinded through the cave, came out the other side. Found a Spearow in the grass, but KO'd him by accident ._. Oops. Oh well.
  • Took on the Rockets at Slowpoke Well, make easy work out of them! Now to grind some more, and then the Gym.

>Obtained Tepig from Prof. Juniper, nicknamed him Blaze.
>Beat Cheren and Bianca easily.

>Arrive in Accumula Town and complete all the events. Beat N easily.
>Proceeded to Route 2, where the first Pokemon I encounter is a Purrloin, Level 5. Catch him and nickname him Jay.
>Reached Striaton, beat both Cheren and Bianca without any problems. Got the Pansage from Dreamyard, and nicknamed her Chief.
>Almost died after battling the first Trainer in the Gym, so decided to go ahead and grind a lot ;~;
