Ever since Generation II we have had evolutions and pre evolutions in previous generations, ending its run with Generation V. I hear some people say they like it, others say there are too much, so people hate either the evos and like the pre or vice versa. Here are evos and pre evolutions by the numbers.

Sorry if I got the numbers wrong. By the numbers Gen IV evolutions only trump Gen II and III combined. So this raises a few questions for me.
What are your Opinion of Evolutions & Pre-Evolutions?
Which do you favor more Evolutions or Pre-Evolutions?
What is a moderate number for you too have overall between the two?
Was Gen IV going overboard on the Evolutions?
What is your opinion on Generation V having none, do you like it or dislike it?

What are your Opinion of Evolutions & Pre-Evolutions?
I don't mind them. I find most of the time pre-evolutions and evolutions are added to Pokemon who have nearly been forgotten or have lost their luster. So it's nice to see Pokemon in the shadows come back out into the spotlight again.

Which do you favor more Evolutions or Pre-Evolutions?
I prefer evolutions. A lot of times when a pre-evolution is added on to a Pokemon I just continue using its base form and never get around to using its baby form. Pikachu is a perfect example of this. Pichu has been Pikachu's baby evolution for the longest time, but I've never raised a Pichu. I always start out with a Pikachu.

What is a moderate number for you too have overall between the two?
I can't really think of any specific number. As long as there are weak Pokemon who I don't mind seeing an evolution added onto I don't mind. As for prevos, they could give every Pokemon a prevo if they wanted to. I don't really care since I barely bother with them now.

Was Gen IV going overboard on the Evolutions?
Yes I really do think so. I tend to consider the first generation Pokemon "untouchable". Meaning They've been the same way for so long that I would prefer if they were left untouched forever from now on. My biggest complaint being with Rhyperior. Rhydon was the first Pokemon ever created and a real Pokemon classic in my opinion. I just feel like they completely ruined it by adding on a hideous evolution like Rhyperior.

What is your opinion on Generation V having none, do you like it or dislike it?
I would like it more if they didn't create Pokemon that now look like they should be certain evolutions to some past Pokemon. I know it's a whole different region far away so the new Pokemon are suppose to be new yet similar, but the whole Luvdisc and Mamanbou situation still bothers me. :/

I actually kind of liked Rhyperior compared to ones like Ambipom, Magnezone, Yanmega, Probopass. I didn't mind so much that it was Generation I one pokemon they were touching, but the fact that they could be using those slots on new unrelated too previous generations pokemon. Some of the designs really didn't change much like Rhyperior so there wasn't much of a ah that's cool feeling for them. As for Mamanbou I wasn't too happy that they created that too look like a Luvdisc.

What are your Opinion of Evolutions & Pre-Evolutions?
Evolutions I don't mind so much, if they actually put some work behind their design, and actually give them additional/new moves on top of the evolution. Pre-evos seem like unneeded slots too me, they could be using those slots too make new pokemon that are actually worth while. Sure they may be "cute" but I am not into the whole cute thing.

Which do you favor more Evolutions or Pre-Evolutions?
For me it is always evolutions, as I generally don't see the need for pre-evolutions. Both as previously said are used to bring the pokemon back in the limelight but I would rather not see them if they come in the form of a pre-evolution. That's one thing if the pre-evolution Budew is accompanied by and evolution Roserade, thus completing a evolutionary line.

What is a moderate number for you too have overall between the two?
I would like too see no more then 10 pre evolutions ever. Over 10 seems way too many. As for evolutions if it goes over 15 seems too much. 30 combined now I really hope I never see that day.

Was Gen IV going overboard on the Evolutions?
22 evolutions alone if that isn't too much I don't know what is. Sure I am glad they added ones, but some just didn't seem like they warranted one i.e. Magnezone, Rhyperior, Electivire, Magmotar, Dusknoir. Not too say I don't like them, but there previous forms seemed plenty powerful as is.

What is your opinion on Generation V having none, do you like it or dislike it?
A change of pace, and a sense of freshness I like. What I don't like about it is pokemon that might appear too be interrelated with previous generation pokemon. Basically ones that have a striking resemblance too current ones.

What are your Opinion of Evolutions & Pre-Evolutions?
I think they were necessary in G/S/C because a lot of the game mechanics changed and the Pokemon needed to be changed as well.
Which do you favor more Evolutions or Pre-Evolutions?
I favor evolutions more because baby Pokemon like Budew and Mime Jr. are uneeded and if anything Mr. Mime needs an evolution.
What is a moderate number for you too have overall between the two?
For Pre-evolutions about 13 or 14 should do it. As for evolutions about 25 should do. I thought all the G/S/C pre-evolutions and evolutions were needed because of the new type additions and new way of gameplay.
Was Gen IV going overboard on the Evolutions?
YES! It gave Pokemon like Dusclops evolutions when they didn't need them. Some Pokemon, however needed evolutions, like Aipom. If only the evolutions weren't so ugly.
What is your opinion on Generation V having none, do you like it or dislike it?
I didn't really like it. I wish Alomomola was Luvdisc's evolution.

What are your Opinion of Evolutions & Pre-Evolutions?: They're good ways for a Pokemon to get stronger, statistically. Some Pokemon got pre-evolved forms to advertise breeding in Gen II, but I think that's a gimmick.
Which do you favor more Evolutions or Pre-Evolutions?: Evolved forms.
What is a moderate number for you too have overall between the two?: I don't know any specific numbers.
Was Gen IV going overboard on the Evolutions?
:Some Pokemon needed evolved forms, like Gligar, Yanma, Sneasel, Tangela and Togetic. Others were unnecessary, like Rhydon's and Dusclops'.
What is your opinion on Generation V having none, do you like it or dislike it?: I hated it when I learned about Gen V not giving Pokemon evolved forms. They showed us Alomomola, only to reveal that it won't evolve from Luvdisc. They also didn't give Pokemon like Farfetch'd and Pachirisu evolved forms.
