I need your help. I'm going to be working on a Pocket Monsters screenplay for a live-action feature-film as a personal project this summer. Being the picky person I am, I didn't want to go ahead without input from other fans, so I've decided to construct a few polls and questions to help me make my screenplay appealing to the largest number of people possible. That being said, I will most probably be posting a new question every week or so(if that's alright). While answering this poll/question, please keep in mind the following:
1) This is not anime; it is live-action(real people, real constraints).
2) Giving reasons for your poll choice/elaborating deeply in a post on this thread is extremely helpful, and not at all a waste of time.
3) While I'm trying to keep my screenplay as true to the games as possible, similarities to the anime and manga will probably pop up once in awhile; and that's fine. That being said, so will entirely new concepts. It is live-action and, therefore, I want to keep it as close to "real" as I can without butchering the series. Another reason as to why I need your input.
4) This isn't an official screenplay. It is a project.
Thank you!
Question #1:
Because of Pokemon's lengthy game plot, I may find it impossible to use the same plot-line/main characters in my screenplay. The idea is to incorporate new characters into the world of Pokemon so as to make it appealing to both fans and, well, those who have no clue what a Pokemon is. That being said, the question is the following: Should my live-action Pokemon screenplay be set before, during, or after Red's Kanto adventure from the original games?
