You all know about the different generations of Pokémon - well, which is your favourite and why? Could it be because the originals were.. well, original? Or could it be that the newest generations showcase Pokémon's modern ways?

Honestly, I sort of like/liked? the originals better because the designs were... simpler, I guess? I had issues with the later Pokemon because their appearances were reminding me more and more of something like Digimon or something piecemealed together and not what I was used to seeing. Not saying I don't like the newer Pokemon; I'm just saying I guess I had a preference for the older 'looks'.

When I look at a game I look at a couple things such as Pokemon, Region, Innovations to the game like(Types, EVs, Natures,)

Pokemon - When I first saw Kyogre and Groudon I thought they were so of the coolest looking legends from the get go, so I was pretty pumped from the beginning. Then when I saw all the starter choicest it was one of the toughest discussions I have had to make while playing pokemon. I absolutely love ever family the starters had to offer. Then there is the two Evo Stone Families Ludicolo and Shiftry love both of there designs, Exploud line, Agrron I thought was beastly when I first saw him, Maectric line, Flygon line, the two rivals Zangoose and Seviper, Armaldo, Milotic, Dusclops line, Tropius, Walrein line, the two pseudo legends Salamence and Metagross these two are some of my favorites out of any game. Rayquaza and Deoxys I thought were cool as well.

Region - Not really my favorite region to explore, since I liked Johto myself. Way too many water routes for my liking. It still had a lot to offer, and if I remember right this was when weather in the games came about so there was a uniqueness there.

Innovations - This probably goes more with regions, but having two opposing teams was awesome in my mind. Then two rivals in May/Brandon although that one was a push over Wally made up for it. This was also the Gen that came up with Battle Frontier which I enjoyed. And for all those battlers along came the EVs.

Generation I is the best for me by far. Pokemon red was one of the first games I got completely addicted to. All my friends were playing it and everyone at school was playing it. Nothing like going to class and talking about pokemon all day (since there was no real work back in elementary school).

Fast forward to now and the reasons I love Gen I are different. I like it because it's a very familiar game. I know all of the pokemon, I know all of the moves, I know the type strengths/weaknesses and I know the region. With newer games (even gen II), I'm always so lost because I haven't played the game enough to know all of these things. Another strong thing with Gen I is the graphics and music. The music is very nostalgic and is actually my all time favorite video game music. I think 8-bit music is amazing and the original pokemon games put the modern games to shame in this department. It should also be mentioned that the pokemon are actually cool looking with good names. Whenever I hear a new pokemons name from B/W I usually lol and then proceed to google what it looks like. I then lol again at how lame it looks and think "Wow, Nintento is really grasping for ideas now".

Generation I definitely has to be an acquired taste. For Christmas last year we went to my grandparents house so I brought my GBA SP so I could play pokemon blue. My 10 year old cousin was playing Diamond and when he saw what I was playing he asked why it looks and sounded so old. He pretty much just said he would never play the game because it looks too bad and went back to his crappy game lol

I loved the 1st and 2nd generations. They were the original and funnest to play. Though I really can't judge on the 5th generation yet.
