So you've beaten 16 gyms, the Elite 4 and Red.

What now?

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do or people to battle...

Any ideas?

I do the Battle Frontier (and train Pokemon for it) when I'm done with everything in the main storyline.

train your pokemon to battle on the wifi. :D And do the events on every game you have. Right now I'm training my monoferno and gastly to become one of my team.

Conquer the Battle Frontier, the Pokeathelon, and the Gym Leaders and Elite Four rematches; catch all the Legendary Pokemon; and play through the Arceus, Shiny Pichu, and Celebi events.

Alternatively, or after doing the above, transfer everything of importance to another 4th Generation cartridge and restart, using a different team. Explore and conquer Johto one last time before Black and White are released.

Oh, and try to fill your Pokedex completely and not just see them all, but have all the Pokedex info filled out.

That should keep you busy until B/W comes out :)

I destroyed the Pokethlon, and I already caught em' all and conquered the Battle Frontier in Platinum. Either this game needs more replay value, or I just have too much time on my hands.

It's the former. :(

Platinum offered much more replay value. HGSS doesn't offer much at all aside from the copy-and-pasted Battle Frontier, the admittedly somewhat fun Pokeathelon, and the Kanto region (which maintained the awful level curve from the original games).

You could rematch the Gym Leaders and the Elite Four (they all have higher levels and different Pokémon). There's also some other in-game events you might not have done such as the double battle with your rival against Lance and Clair.

Level curve?

Not to get too off-topic, but basically, the trainers and Gym Leaders in Kanto are severely underleveled, and their levels don't increase as you progress throughout the region (as the entirety of Kanto is accessible from the point you reach the Power Plant and Cerulean). This, combined with the fact the majority of them use Pokemon which aren't fulled evolved (or even stage-one Pokemon), makes the Kanto region extremely easy to conquer. And though I didn't mention it before, the lack of direction and plot in Kanto also contributes to its overall monotony.

I actually support the decision to do that. Players could go into Kanto and train up a totally new team.

You'd be surprised. I don't have the patience to get all the gold prints at the Battle Frontier, but I easily got all the silvers on my first or second try. The problem with the 4th gen Battle Frontier is that every facility is pretty much just regular old battling with a small twist. The Hoenn Battle Frontier was a lot more challenging and interesting because it had larger twist that forced you to devise new strategies.
I only collected Pokemon when I was bored. It took about a year to catch em' all, but again, I wasn't very consistent with this. People say it's impossible to catch em' all nowadays, but it's really not that hard when you have the GBA and Gamecube games, plus the GTS. People exaggerate about the GTS. It's bad, but not that bad.

Well I find there's more end game in platinum than HG.. maybe its coz I played the original... I find the wifi stuff a bit tedious to do but I think it's as I'm not too familiar with it. I'm planning to focus on gold - between my friend and I we're working on our johto pokedexes (do you have to actually capture all of them or just see all of them??)

I just found out about how you get the gym leader re-matches. I'm a bit lost on the battle zone stuff. I like the one where you pick a poké and then do 10 battles and you pick the type and it gets harder (pink tower... upper left I think)
