I enjoy mixing romance and action in my fanfictions, and this one is no exception. It isn't completed, but i'm hoping through constructive criticism and story ideas suggested by the readers, I may get this moving that much faster. I'll upload as much as I have completed.
Chapter 1: Remembering Cerinia
{The Lylat System}
The large, empty vacuum of space. All around various planets and moons rotated around Solar, the systems one and only star. A few defense satellites were floating around, as well as a few cruisers and transports. Most of the debris left behind from the war on Venom had been cleaned out, though much was still left. The Space-ways were fairly empty at this time. It was only early morning at the Cornerian Spaceports, and most of the people who made their living in the sky had yet to lift off. This meant that nearly all the ships were on the ground, and this didnt make the leader of the Star Fox Team very happy.
"Well never find a parking space!" Fox grumbled to himself after contacting traffic control and hearing the bad news. "We should have stayed a little longer at that last space station on the way back." The red vulpine seemed thoroughly upset. He was not in the habit of wasting anything, and waiting in orbit over Corneria for ground space while burning their already limited resources was not his idea of saving. Nearby, the blue avian by the name of Falco Lombardi seemed just as upset by Foxs complaints.
"Excuse me, but if I recall correctly, it was you who said we should hurry up and leave, and my idea that we stay and relax longer." Falco declared snidely Fox. glared at him but didnt contest it anymore. Instead he sighed and sat back in his chair. He looked at the display monitor on the arm of his chair.
Indeed, he had been in a hurry. The Great Fox, the large Carrier Class cruiser on which they were traveling, was in terrible condition. From a distance, no one would even know that is was the same ship that had helped to destroy the maniacal scientist Andross and freed the Lylat System from his tyranny. Most of the outer hull was scraped and badly damaged. The fuel cells that normally shot a cool blue flame from the back which propelled them through space now burned red as the coolant had run dry. Many parts were missing or in need of repair. Some rooms they even had to airlock because a window or two had been broken by a stray piece of rock or metal. It was the biggest piece of garbage the Lylat System had ever seen, but it was all the Star Fox Team had.
They seriously needed this vacation they were coming up on. He had been looking forward to it ever since he had left Dinosaur planet. Normally he wasnt one for vacations because of what they usually cost, but after spending weeks on end down on a planet without so much as a bathroom, he was willing to spend a little. Besides, with the large amount of money they had received, they just might be able to get some repairs done on the Great Fox and have it look more like the valiant cruiser it used to be.
Fox looked around the control room. Slippy was working cantankerously with his jukebox. Probably trying to find another way to make it louder to annoy Peppy. Ever since he got that thing, he had been fascinated with hard rock. Fox didnt mind it, but his sensitive fox ears couldnt handle the racket when Slippy raised the volume. Fox shuddered in anticipation of the pending jukebox blast. He looked around the room, and noticed that someone was missing.
"Hey, have you seen Krystal lately?" he asked. Falco shrugged.
"I think shes down in the ship bay." Fox nodded and stood form his chair, eager to have a reason to leave the room. He walked out the side door and sighed audibly as the sound proofed barrier slid shut behind him. Suddenly he could practically feel the air pounding against the door behind him. Slippy had turned on the jukebox.
A split second later, Falco ran out with his wings over his ears. The sound escaping from the room was almost too much to bear, and Fox raised his hands to his ears as well flinching. Once the door slid shut, Falco looked at him accusingly.
"You should have told me." He grumbled as he rubbed his ears. Fox grinned.
Sorry pal. Come on, lets go find Krystal." Falco nodded to Foxs suggestion and followed him down the hall, still grumbling about hearing loss.

All was peaceful. Krystal sat cross legged on the top of her small space transporter bay, trying to concentrate on her meditation. She couldnt help but feel content with herself, looking out at the stars through the fighter bay. Small flickers of blue revealed the forcefeild keeping the oxygen in. Although at first she had been skeptical about the trustworthiness of the forcefeild, Fox had assured her that it was probably the only part of the ship that was safe (small comfort that was). He said he had used some "special parts" to reinforce it. Although she was certain as to what he meant by that, he had saved her life once, so she wasnt going to question the legality of his actions. Besides, as far as she could tell, no harm was being done.
The blue vixen smiled humorously. She never had let her mind wander like this before. Usually when she meditated she would always be completely focused. Shed think about her home planet of Cerinia, where she has been, or the places she had seen. But recently, every meditative moment she had, her thoughts ended up drifting to the orange vulpine who had saved her life. She couldnt help but wonder what that meant.
"Its beautiful, isnt it?"
Krystal jumped in surprise and looked over to see Fox kneeling down beside her, looking towards the fighter bay door.
"Yes, it is." She agreed. There was a moment of uneasy silence as they watched the stars eventually the large, blue and green orb that was Corneria rotated into view. "You know, I never stopped to enjoy the view during my travels. I never realized how grand space really was." Krystal admitted. Fox grinned.
"To tell you the truth, neither have I. Im usually too busy blasting enemy fighters and stopping evil tyrants from taking over the universe." Fox chuckled. Krystal giggled at his attempt at humor.
" So anyway, why have you come to see me?" She asked. Fox shrugged.
"Just to check up on you, see how your doing, though mostly to escape Slippys Jukebox."
"This Jukebox is the brightly colored contraption that plays music in the control room, correct?"
"Yeah, thats the one."
" I see. Im afraid Im a bit new to the technology and customs of those in the Lylat System. Maybe Ill experience the sounds of a jukebox myself someday."
"Well then heres a tip. When looking for a jukebox, dont use Slippys." Krystal giggled again.
"Where are you from anyway?" Fox asked. Krystal suddenly looked solemn and got quiet, and Fox began feeling like he shouldnt have asked that question. " I guess thats a sensitive subject, huh?" he said, trying to lighten the mood. "Why dont we talk about something else?" Krystal shook her head.
" No, its okay. I dont mind talking about my home planet. Its been a while since anyone cared enough to want to know." She took a deep breath, then began to tell her story.
" Im from a place called Cerinia that was in another system about ten or twelve light years from the Lylat System. I cant really remember much about it anymore, it has been so long since Ive been there. I do remember, however, that we were a peaceful people who lived simply and only had technology for the simplest forms of transportation and communication.
"I remember I was eight when it happened. A large army appeared in the sky above us. I cant remember much what they did, it happened so fast. All I can remember is it was horrible. I dont know how I managed to escape them. Then I found a space shuttle in some old ruins and managed to use it to escape. Pretty good huh?" She smiled sadly. " An eight year old flying a space shuttle. Once I got about thirty thousand miles away, which isnt that far, something happened down on the surface and the whole planet exploded. I still dont know how that could have happened. All I remember thinking when I saw it was that my parents were still down there."
Fox shifted uncomfortably. He knew that it was a source of sadness for the vixen, but who knew his question would uproot a first person account of the death of a planet?! Fox never saw that coming. But there was still one question he had to ask, though he feared he already knew the answer.
"Krystal, did you ever find out who destroyed Cerinia?"
" After I had escaped in the ship, I started traveling around the galaxy to find out who was responsible and to find out how the planet could just blow up like that. That day inside the Krazoa palace, I saw the disembodied spirit of Andross. Something about him jarred my memory, and I knew that it was his army I saw that day."
Fox felt a bit disturbed, and also a bit guilty for bringing up her home planet. He cursed himself for opening his mouth before thinking about what effect it would have on her. "Im sorry." He apologized, trying to comfort the teary-eyed vixen. " If it would make you feel any better, I also lost my parents at a young age."
Krystal looked up at him and wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. "You did?" she asked.
"Yeah. About fourteen years ago, before the Lylat System had gone to war, my mother was killed in an assassination attempt on my father. He was the previous leader of the Star Fox team, and I guess the Venomians didnt want someone that good standing against them. Thirteen years ago they succeeded in killing my father when a member of the team betrayed them during a raid on Venom, and gave my father over to Andross. We were never able to recover his body."
Thats terrible." Krystal said sympathetically. < **** it Krystal, now look what you did.> she mentally scolded herself. < Here you go getting all weepy eyed and feeling sorry for yourself, and you end up making Fox have to remember bad things and make him feel bad. Smart move.>
"It wasnt all bad though." Fox had continued. " I always had my good friends to keep my company. With their help I formed the new Star Fox Team, and we went in there and we kicked Androsss *** so hard, the old fool didnt know what hit him." Fox grinned broadly. And Krystal found herself smiling as well. "I can still see the look on his stupid face when he realized the son of James McCloud sent him packing."
"James McCloud?" Krystal repeated, her ears perking up when the name was mentioned.

The house was dark. The stucco walls were a guide to the only lit room in the house: the Living room. As she walked into the room, her mother spotted her and walked over to where she stood.
"Mommy." Young Krystal pouted. "Im scared."
"Oh, whats the matter dear? You should be sleeping right now." Her mother cooed as she picked up here daughter in her arms.
"I dont want to sleep. Its too dark in my room." Krystals mother smiled.
"But if you dont sleep you wont get your rest. I tell you what, why dont you sleep in the living room? Daddy and I will be right there if you get scared."
"Okay!" Krystal said energetically. Krystals mother smiled and set her daughter back on the floor. Dragging her blanket behind her, Krystal went over to the couch and lay down with her back to her parents. She lay there for a few moments listening to her parents.
" Have you heard from James recently?" Her mother had asked her dad.
"Yeah." His deep voice responded. "McCloud seemed really happy. He said he and Delilah have managed to set up a new life in a solar system a few light years away. Said theyve even had a son, know about Krystals age."
"Maybe we should visit them some day. Just to see how they are doing." Her mother suggested. Krystals dad laughed.
"Wish we could. But it would take quite a while to scrounge up a descent shuttle to take us there. And since none of our shuttles contain a warp drive, it would take us at least a decade to get there. Theyll have our gravesites up saying the body was never found by the time we get back."
Krystals mother sighed in disappointment. " Why did they leave anyway?"
"Said they felt a bad vibe. Like something really horrible was going to happen and that it was better for them if they went somewhere else."
"What kind of bad vibe could be strong enough to scare them away like that?" her mother thought aloud. Her dad shrugged.
Once they had finished talking, Krystal listened to the silence for a couple minutes to hear if they would say something else, but then no longer cared as she had fallen asleep.
************************************************************************
"James McCloud." Krystal repeated, somewhat dazed from the sudden onrush of memories. "Was he your father?"
"Yeah, he was. Why, did you hear of him before?"
" I think my parents knew a James McCloud." She said. "I remember know they said that he had left and they hoped to see him again soon." Fox shrugged his shoulders.
"My dad always traveled around space a lot. Maybe he stopped by Cerinia once, and he got aquainted with your parents."
"Maybe" She said quietly, not truly convinced.
"Hey, I just thought of something. If Andross had never existed, and our parents really did know each other, you and me may have got to be friends long before now. Maybe even life long friends." Fox grinned
"Maybe." Krystal smiled warmly. " Or maybe we would have been married."
"What?!" Fox declared, very surprised by that statement.
"Well, on Cerinia it was customary for the parents to decide the mate for their son or daughter. If our parents really did meet, the could have decided to have us wed when we were of age."
Fox blushed and scratched the back of his head. "Yeah, I guess so."
"Fox, this is Peppy." Peppy spoke over the intercom. " Ground Traffic Control says theyve freed up some space for us and has given us authorization to land."
"Okay, Ill be right there." Fox answered. He heard the intercom cut off and turned back towards Krystal. "Well, I guess were about to land. Do you want to come with me back to the control room?" She nodded and together they slid down off the side of the shuttle back to the floor of the docking bay. As they landed, Fox noticed Falco leaning against the shuttle with a large grin on his beak, where he had been standing since Fox had climbed up onto the shuttle to find Krystal.
"What are you smiling at?" Fox challenged him.
`"Nothing. I was just thinking about my situation: blaring loud rock concert behind me and a mushy romance novel in front. I seem to be caught between a rock and a hard place." Fox glared at the cocky falcon.
"At least Im actually capable of romance, bird-boy." Fox shot back. Falcos grin visibly diminished. " Come on." Fox continued. " You heard Peppy. Lets go." Falco grumbled under his breath and the three friends headed towards the hallway leading back to the control room. Neither Falco nor Krystal saw the worried look on Foxs face.
Fox knew Andross. He had obeyed the saying "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" ever since Andross had killed Foxs parents. If there was nothing he knew about Andross, he may have been crazy, but he always did something for a reason. What benefit did the old maniac see in destroying an entire planet? And even worse, what about the whole Venomian fleet there that before Kyrstals story, no-one knew existed?

"So Doctor, what do you have for me?" The reptilian scientist looked up to see an ape in the traditional military wear of the Venomian army. The man who had spoken seemed very bored and a bit taxed with having to come down to the lab, but the Doctor smiled and stood from his desk.
"Ah, General Red." He said as he motioned the General to follow him. "Right this way." the Doctor pushed open a door and they stepped into the lab. Various gadgets and experiments lined the walls and covered the work tables. But he walked right past all those and instead approached a small computer and microscope and lifted a small glass slide with a single blue hair on it.
"This is the hair we found in the temple on Dinosaur Planet. After careful genetic study, I have been able to determine that the person who this hair came from is about 27 years old, approximately 5 foot 6 inches tall, a naturally shorthaired species, most likely vulpine. This person is also female, and"
"Get to the point!" the General roared violently. " Id hate to find out that I was called down here from the bridge to hear a bunch of useless information. You dont want me to make some adjustments to staff again." He said threateningly. The Doctor gulped as he remembered how he became the sole person on what once was a ten person science staff.
" The Genetic testing has shown that this hair has small traces of magic within it, and that the person in question is a Cerinian." The Doctor said quickly, not wanting to waste anymore of the Generals time. " It is a safe assumption that all Cerinians are vulpine, judging from her genetic make-up."
The general rubbed his chin thoughtfully. " So we have finally determined the specifics of our target. Do we know where she is located?"
"As a matter of fact we do." The Doctor said. " Rumors on Dinosaur Planet suggest that she left with the Star Fox team about four days ago. Judging form the direction they left and the speed they traveled, Ive determined her location to be somewhere in Cornerian air space or on Corneria itself. Suggested action would be to move in quickly with a collection team and gather our target before we lose track of her again."
"Dont tell me how to do my job, Doctor." General Red growled threateningly. "If we were to move in on Corneria, we would draw attention from the Cornerian army, something which we cannot afford to do. Instead, we are going to create a distraction that will draw the Star Fox team away from Corneria and catch our prey when she is most vulnerable. Do you have a problem with that?" The doctor quickly shook his head. " Good. Now get back to work, before I put you with the other nine." Despite being a reptile, the Doctor began to sweat as the General blew right by him and left the lab, the doors sliding shut forebodingly behind him.

Chapter 2: Corneria City
Fox could hear the hydraulics hiss to a stop as they steadily set down in the docking bay. The Cornerian Transport Air Station was built for the take off and landing of large craft like the Great Fox and would be a good place to make the repairs. Although the Military Air bases would be better stocked and with more room to work, he didnt feel like spending the kinda money necessary in order to gain rights to that equipment. Besides, with a couple trades and a few acquisitions from their enemies over the years, they had their own equipment to equal that of the Cornerian Military.
"Welcome Star Fox Team." A voice greeted through the communications system. Fox shifted from his thoughts to see the face of an elderly hound on his display screen. " We are happy to have you here at the Cornerian Transport Air Station. If there is anything you need, just let us know and well provide you with anything you want."
"Sure, well consider it." Fox said nonchalantly. Once the screen went blank, he rolled his eyes in his head.
"I hate it when they grovel like that." Slippy said from his workstation. " Its been almost a decade since we defeated Andross, youd figure they would move on with their lives by now." Fox grinned.
"You took the words right out of my mouth Slip. Okay everyone,. Time to move. Slippy, you start with the repairs."
"Can do." Slippy saluted.
"Falco, you help him with the repairs." Falco nodded.
"Peppy, sign us in at the front door."
"Will do." The old hare replied.
"And Krystal Wheres Krystal?" Fox looked around for the vixen, no where near the conference area.
"Wow!"
Fox looked back towards the front window to see Krystal gazing out at the terminal below.
"Look at all the people!" She said in amazement. " Ive never been on a planet this populated before! Wow!" Fox grinned as he walked up to her.
" I told you youd like it." He said. Krystal kept gazing out at the masses below. Most of them were different types of canines, although there were lizards and wolves among them. Fox was watching her excitement with his own level of amusement, when suddenly he got an idea. "Hey, how about I take you sightseeing?" he asked her. Krystal finally looked up from the masses with a look of excitement in her eyes.
"Would you really? That would be the best!"
"Sure. The others can hold things down here for now. I can show you the best places to eat and shop and whatever else you wanna do. Come on." He grabbed her hand and guided her toward the door. " Lets go." As they headed through the door, he called back to the rest of the Star Fox team, who was still watching. " Im taking Krystal for a tour of Corneria City. We should be back in about an hour or so." And then the doors slid shut behind them.
A few seconds went by with no one saying anything before Falco broke the silence. "Well thats just swell." He said with crossed arms. "We get to sit here and work while he gets to take the new chick for a walk."

" Wow." Fox grunted as he squeezed through the terminal doors. " That was a lot of people." Krystal breathed exhaustedly, nodding in agreement. They had barely gotten off the Great Fox before they were swarmed by hundreds of people. Some where just going bout their business, but then they were the people who wanted to shake Foxs hand and then there were the crazed fans who wanted a signature, no matter where he put it. Fox had strongly refused to sign a tongue while he was in there. And then the worst of it came. The Terminal Owner must have informed them, because then a celebrities worst nightmare arrive: The Media.
"Mr. McCloud, over here!"
"Mr. McCloud, what happened on your last mission?
" Do you feel that General Pepper is giving you adequate pay, Mr. McCloud?"
"How do you feel about those who consider your title as mercenary unethical?"
" Who is this woman, Mr. McCloud? Is she your girlfriend? Do you have any plans for marriage?"
Fox waved off the questions as best he could. But after the last volley of questions involving his relationship towards Krystal, he was so frustrated and angry he felt ready to pull his blaster on them. Krystal seemed upset with them herself and was going to tolerate no more. She grabbed her staff from the small leather strap on her hip and extended it to its full length. She then slammed the tip on the ground, which caused the media people to jump in surprise and look at her with a tinge of fear in their expressions. Fox couldnt blame them with the angry glare she was giving them. The questions had stopped and it didnt take long before they were alone again on the sidewalk.
"Thanks Krystal." Fox said. Krystal frowned in the direction the media people had gone before retracting the staff and replacing it back in the strap.
"Those people were very displeasing." She said disapprovingly. " Does everyone invade on a persons personal privacy?" she asked.
"Nah. Thats just the media. Its their job. Come on. We have places to go." Krystal nodded and began following him down the street. Various peoples walked by them as they passed many stores. Krystal was now examining everything she saw with more scrutiny than the excitement she had felt earlier, which was why she noticed something Fox didnt.
"Fox, these people are staring at me." She whispered to him uncomfortably. Fox looked around, and sure enough, many people found themselves watching Krystal as they walked by. Fox became a bit hot under the collar as most of them were men. He knew why they were staring. After all, Krystal had the most revealing outfit he had ever seen, what with the amazon style bra and loin cloth, it was hard to ignore her. These were the most decent people Fox could have known, but there was just no denying the fact that Krystal was a very attractive woman. But of course, Krystal was already having her doubts about Corneria, so he couldnt tell her the truth. Otherwise she would never want to come there again.
"Its because your fur is blue." He lied. "They arent use to that kind of fur color. Say, why dont we get you some new clothes?" He suggested. " Im sure you could use some new outfits. The clothes youre wearing are looking kinda worn." Krystal looked down at the old leather clothes she was wearing and couldnt help but agree.
"I suppose I do need some new clothes." She agreed. "But where do I go for them?"
"I know of a good place down town." Fox smiled. " It shouldnt take long."
________________________________________________________________________
"Yes, thats right." Slippy spoke over the phone. " We need about four thousand steel panels delivered to the Corneria Transport Air Station at Terminal three. Thats right I said four thousand steel panels. Yes, I know its expensive. No were not rich, we just got paid for a job for the Cornerian Army Yes, were the Star Fox Team. Im afraid Fox is out for now and wont be back for at least an hour, so he wont be here to give you an autograph when the steel panels are delivered No, the delivery cant wait!" Slippy shouted, beginning to get annoyed. " That delivery is important!.. Listen, either you get the delivery here on time, and you wont be getting anymore business from us." With that, Slippy hung up the phone and rubbed his forehead in exasperation.
Standing from the chair where he had made the call, he turned around to face the rest of the control room. Already it had been cleaned up some, although for the most part, the ship was still a heap. Peppy walked in at this moment, wheezing as if he had been running the mile.
"There you are." Slippy spoke. "What took you so long? I thought you were just checking us in at the front desk"
" I was. Those large Cornerian crowds are too much for this old hare. And then to make matters worse, when I reach the front desk the media shows up." Slippy winced. " They kept asking me weird questions about when Im going to retire and who Foxs new girl friends is, like Im supposed to know. I tell you what though, when I do retire Im going to go someplace with no crowds. Right now Titania looks promising." Slippy snickered at Peppys obvious sarcasm.
"Well, why dont you take a rest? Fox and Krystal should be back in a few minutes to help with the repairs, and the order for steel panels should be here any second. Ill go see how Falcos doing, and then Ill get to the main thrusters." Peppy nodded and settled into his chair for a well needed rest as Slippy walked out of the control room. As he walked down a hall, he heard a small rumble, and then felt the floor shake under his feet. Curious, he opened the door to the boiler room and was greeted by an overwhelming plume of black smoke.
"What the hell!?" he shouted in surprise before coughing violently on the smoke that now filled the hallway. " Computer, filtering system!" a small beep could be heard and then a row of small fans along the ceiling sucked up the smoke. Slippy was left wheezing in the hallway for fresh breath and found Falco leaning against the door frame in front of him looking tired and covered in ash.
" Hey, Slip." Falco grinned in embarrassment. " I sorta kinda blew up the boiler. The thing was older than I remember." Slippy looked over Falcos shoulder and sure enough, the boiler that was their only source of heat out in space had a large hole in its side, with pieces of charred machinery about it. Slippy gave Falco a look that said Youre testing my patience. And continued down the hall, muttering how Peppy wasnt going to be the only one retiring to Titania.

A few minutes walk and Krystal and Fox stood in front of a store called Star Fashions. As they walked into the store, they bumped into someone on their way out.
"Sorry." Fox apologized, not looking up. But he was a bit surprised when the person he bumped into greeted him warmly.
"Hey, Fox! Long time no see! When did you get back?" Fox looked up and then smiled to see the pink feline known as Kat.
"Kat! Good to see you! It has been a long time, hasnt it? We got back just today. How have you been?" Kat shrugged.
"Okay, I guess. Things have been kinda boring since Andross went down. I started getting tired of the army, what with all the formalities. So last week, I got a discharge from the army and went freelance. Im thinking of becoming a bounty hunter. You know, earn a little money by hunting bad guys." She winked.
Fox grinned. " You know, youll have to do a really good job if your to get the money instead of us." He teased.
" Well see." She smiled knowingly. It was then that she noticed Krystal huddling a bit shyly behind Fox. "Whos this?" she asked.
"Oh, thats right. I havent introduced you guys yet. Kat, this is Krystal. Krystal, this is Kat."
"Pleased to meet you." The feline greeted, extending her hand. Krystal stepped out and tentatively shook it. Kat shot Fox a quick questioning glance.
" This is her first time in a populated city in a long time. Shes a bit nervous." Fox explained.
" Oh, a loner huh?" Kat smiled. "Kinda reminds me of Falco. Havent seen him in a while either. Dont worry. "she spoke to Krystal. " Youll like it here. It just takes a bit of getting used to."
" I met up with Falco again. on Dinosaur Planet, the same place where I met Krystal. He should be back at the Great Fox." Fox spoke.
Kat raised an eyebrow in interest. "Really? So Falcos back? Ill have to remember to stop by and give him a piece of my mind for disappearing like that about five years ago." Fox laughed. "So, what were you guys doing here? I thought you didnt like shopping Fox?"
"Were buying Krystal some new clothes. Being out on her own for so long has kinda worn her wardrobe thin."
"I see." Kat grinned, although having known Fox for so long, she could tell that wasnt the only reason. Why dont we go back inside and Ill help you with finding some clothes?" She asked Krystal. The Cerinian nodded politely.
that would be appreciated. Thank you."
Once inside Krystals quiet demeanor suddenly disappeared as she looked around with wide eyes at all the different styles of clothing they had.
" So many different types of clothes. I dont know what to choose." She said breathlessly.
"Thats why Im here to help." Kat said as she began taking clothes off the rack. "What you need is some casual clothes like these." She said as she grabbed some jeans and T-shirts that looked about her size. "You also would want some formal clothes for like award ceremonies or stuff like that, which you probably will be attending if you keep hanging with Fox long enough." Krystal giggled as she winked and grabbed a few dresses as well. "And of course, we get these award ceremonies because theyre job is to go kick butt. So well also get you a battle outfit so when the enemy is about to get smacked, youll make a good impression on them." She grinned as she grabbed some black leather. " And of course, you need something to walk in." And dhe grabbed a few pairs of shoes, one pair to match each style of clothes. With the stack built high she then handed the clothing to Krystal, who seemed to almost buckle under the weight.
"How will I know they fit?" she asked nervously.
"They have a fitting room over there." Fox motioned towards the back. "You could try them on in there." Krystal started heading towards the fitting room before doubling back and, taking Fox by the hand, began pulling him behind her.
"What are you doing?" he asked in alarm.
"I want you to come with me."
"Krystal, I cant go in there with you!" he blushed.
"Well you dont have to go in with me." She laughed. " I just want you to be there. Ill need an opinion."
"Oh, uh, okay." He said nervously. Katy followed them. By this time they had reached the fitting room. Krystal gave Fox a comforting smile as she stepped into the fitting room. "Dont worry about it." She said with a soft caress of his cheek, causing the fur on the back of his neck to stand. " Ill be out in a minute." The door closed behind her, and Fox had a goofy grin on his face, his fur still standing on end. He looked around and saw Kat nearby grinning at him, obviously having seen his reaction to Krystals touch. Fox quickly cleared his throat in embarrassment and leaned against he wall in an attempt to try to look inconspicuous. Kat grinned and stood by a clothes rack nearby.
A couple minutes later, Krystal called over the door. " Im ready!" Fox stood up and turned towards the door. It opened and Krystal stepped out. She smiled at him and turned once so he could see her new outfit. She was wearing a pair of faded design blue jeans with a pink T-shirt. She had taken of the jeweled headband she had worn with her old clothes. "So tell me, what do you think?"
"They look good on you." He said honestly. " They fit nicely, not too tight, not too loose, the colors look good with your fur color, oh, and the shoes." He laughed. " New thing to see you wear shoes."
"So you like it?" she said hopefully.
"That outfit is you, dear." Kat encouraged. " The pink hues perfectly accent the blues of your fur. The same way that blue accents my pink fur. And the blue jeans feed into that which actually seems to give your eyes a sort of deep feel to them. All that, plus jeans are quite slimming on you." Both Fox and Krystal stared somewhat dumbfoundedly at Kats explanation. " What? Do you think that Id be this good looking and not know how to dress myself?" she demanded with a motion to herself. Fox rolled his eyes.
Krystal smiled and returned to the fitting room. "Ill be out with another one in a minute." Fox again leaned against the wall while he waited. It took her a little longer this time, but it still wasnt that long before Krystal was calling over the door for his opinion. Fox raised his eyebrow a bit as she came out wearing the black leather jumpsuit Kat had chosen earlier. With it she was wearing a pair of white gloves as well as a pair of white knee high boots. This time she wore the jeweled headband she had worn into the store. "Wow." Fox said, impressed. " Now that is a kick butt outfit." Krystal blushed.
"Im not sure if this is really me though." She said uncertainly.
"Nonsense!" Fox exclaimed encouragingly. " I saw the way you fought off those Sharpclaws back on Dinosaur Planet. And the way you started shooting at Andross? I swear you reminded me of myself when I was a bit younger." Krystal blushed again.
"Everything you wear seems to accent your blue fur perfectly. Im actually a bit jealous that I wasnt born that that coloring." Kat declared
"Well, I suppose if you like it Ill get it. Wait here and Ill put on another one."
And so it went, outfit by outfit. Fox was getting bored with the whole thing, although admittedly they all looked good on her. Kat seemed to be enjoying the whole excursion, providing reasons why she looked good in particular outfits in detail, which ultimately came down to the color of fur over and over again. He took a glance at his watch and cursed inwardly as he saw the time. It must have taken longer than he thought to get away from the crowds earlier because they only had about ten minutes left before the promised hour was up.
"Okay, this is the last one." Krystal called. Fox looked up from his watch and his jaw dropped in astonishment as Krystal stepped from the fitting room.
She was wearing a pale yellow dress that extended down to right above her ankles. The sleeves went down to her elbows. She wore a woven yellow hat upon her head with her ears sticking out through holes in the top. A gold charm bracelet was on each of her wrists. Her tail poked out through a slit in the back of the dress and her feet fit daintily into a pair of golden stiletto heels. All in all , she was drop dead gorgeous.
"So, what do you think?" She asked.
"U-uh, um, gee." Fox took a deep breath.
"What, dont you like it?" She asked apprehensively.
"No, no. Its not that. Its just that well.. I mean, you look.wow. There is just no other way to describe it. Wow." Krystal was now blushing so hard she put a hand to her cheek to try to hide it.
"Its that good?"
"Yeah. Hey, we need to start heading back, the hour I promised the others is almost up. Well have to finish the tour later. Why dont you wear that out of the store?"
"Okay." She walked back into the fitting room and closed the door so she could gather up all the clothes. Fox was still a bit dazed from the last outfit she had worn, and simply stood there.
"So, how did you like her?" Kat asked him. Fox seemed to snap out of a dream when she spoke.
"Huh? You mean the clothes? They were pretty good. What with the pink accenting her fur and stuff." Kat shook her head in almost a pitying way and smiled.
"I wasnt talking about the clothes."
"What are you talking about?"
"Im talking about Krystal. Ive known you for a long time, and Ive seen the looks youve given her, the kind way you treat her. I bet she has yet to see the brash and blunt behavior your so famous for. Your doting on her."
"W-what are you talking about? Im not doting."
"Yes you are. Being the popular girl I am, Ive seen similar behavior around myself. You have a crush on her, you just wont admit it." Fox blushed brightly, but was saved from any further embarrassing inquiries as Krystal stepped out of the dressing room again carrying a large stack of clothes.
"Okay, Im ready." She piped up. Fox glanced over at Kat who was still smiling in his direction and then they both accompanied her to the cash register.
Together they walked up to the clerk, paid for the merchandise and had it put in bags. One bag for her new clothes, and another for her old ones along with her staff. With everything paid for and ready to go, they walked out the door and started heading back to the terminal.
"If we hurry, we should be back to the Great Fox in about five to ten minutes." Fox informed them as he glanced again at his watch. "We better hurry." As they approached a street crossing, a military jeep suddenly pulled up in front of him, blocking his way. "Excuse me, could you move please?" He asked with obvious annoyance. A male collie about 28 years old got out of the back with a serious expression on his face.
"Are you Fox McCloud?" He asked,
"Yes I am. What about it?" Fox challenged.
" Im Colonel Grim. General Pepper has requested your appearance. It seems he has a private mission for you he wishes to discuss."
"Im kinda busy right now." He motioned towards the clothing bags they were carrying. " Cant this wait?"
" Im afraid not. General Pepper says it may be a matter of system security."
"It always is." Fox muttered to himself. Looked up he turned to Krystal. " Krystal, Ive got business to attend to. Could you do me a favor and go back to the Great Fox? Ill catch up with you later."
"Sure Fox." Krystal agreed, taking the bags from his hands.
"And Kat, could you make sure she gets there okay? Its Terminal three at the Cornerian Transport Air Station. C.T.A.S."
"No problem Fox." Kat reassured him. Fox nodded to the colonel and got in the jeep with him, which immediately took off for the nearest Military Base. Krystal watched him leave before turning to Kat.
" I dont understand. Why did he look so depressed? I thought missions were what he lived for."
" His priorities have changed." Kat winked at her. " I think he may have a crush on someone."
"Really?" Her eyes lifted in interest. "Who?"
"If you dont know, I wont tell." Kat shook a finger at her. Krystal stood there for a moment to try to read Kats expression before speaking again.
" You laugh and smile about Foxs feelings like its no big deal. You act like this is a big game."
"Hey, Im a feline. For me, everything is a game. Come on, lets get you back to the Great Fox." Krystal glanced down the street Fox had gone before nodding her consent and following Kat back to the Great Fox.

Chapter 3: Things are Heating Up
General Red was pleased with their progress. They had made a short trip by Katina to drop off a large group of their soldiers at one of their old ground bases, obvious enough to get the attention of a Cornerian Spy Satellite. Hopefully the weak spined Cornerians would send out the Star Fox team to investigate instead of their own men. They always do.
After that, General Red had decided that he needed to find the members of Star Wolf. They carried upon their bodies interesting technology Andross gave them that General Red was sure his employers would want to see, and they were also the last people alive to see Andross in the flesh. If this operation was to be successful, hell need all the information he could get his hands on. And so, through a few leads and connections to Lylats lowest crooks, General Red had found himself in his flagship floating over Aquas just within its atmosphere.
" Sir, scanners indicate that the only form of civilization is a few biological posts here and there on the surface." A technician declared from his station. "All are Cornerian. Biology stations have about three or four DNA patterns that are Cornerian. The rest are animal."
"What about the lab where Andross developed his Bio weapons for navy warfare?" General Red asked.
"Its located about twenty miles North North-West from here. Scanners are having trouble getting anything from that place due to radio-wave interference but from what the scanners are picking up, they say its abandoned. Either everyone was captured, or the biological weapons were too much and everyone was killed."
"Pity." General Red said with no sign of remorse. " Start the search there. Dispatch a search team for Wolf O Donnell. Send Nash and his Marines. Make sure they bring him back alive."
"Roger." The technician flipped a few switches and the bio scanner blinked over to a ship to ship communicator. The face of an ape no older than thirty saluted.
"Sir, Captain Nash speaking. What are your orders sir?" the personage on the screen asked.
"Search the old Bio labs for our prey." General Red informed him with the air of utmost boredom. " Try not to kill him me before we get what we need. The technician here will send you the specs of who you need to catch."
"Roger. Well get the job done." Captain Nash saluted again and then the screen went blank.
"Sir." One of his advisors, a female chameleon about twenty-five years old interrupted meekly. "Pardon me sir, but if that is an abandoned bio lab built by Lord Andross, isnt their a high likelihood that they may be killed by any roaming experiments they may come across?" She quivered in fear as he turned to look at her, a look of annoyance on his face. It didnt matter that the advisors where given the highest pay and benefits. General Red was famous for his low toleration of advice and could have the poor chameleon killed in an instant. She was very much surprised to see his expression turn from a frown to a smile.
"Thats the idea. Even if they do find O Donnell, any rogue lifeforms would finish off Nash and his pathetic squadron. If he hadnt slipped up back at Cerinia, we wouldnt be chasing the ****ed girl halfway across the galaxy!" The chameleon backed away as did everyone else as General Reds rage and frustration over the last few years finally slipped through. He glared angrily at no one in particular as he breathed deeply in an attempt to regain his composure. " If Nash were to pass away, it would be no loss to this army." He said carefully through gritted teeth. " His ship would be reassigned to a different legion and we would be much better off without him."
" But then why do you keep him around?" the chameleon ventured. General Red glared at her, causing her to gulp in apprehension.
"You ask too many questions." The ape said slowly. " Go back to your quarters and dont bother me anymore today." The chameleon eagerly bowed before taking her leave. Its seemed she may have gotten away still alive.
"Guard." General Red called as soon as the advisor had left. The soldier standing nearby immediately snapped to attention and rushed over to the ape.
"Yes sir?" he saluted.
"Catch up with the advisor of mine that just left and escort her to the nearest airlock."The guards eyes widened as he realized what General Red was asking him to do.
"Sir, shes your advisor." General red glared at the soldiers comment.
"Would you rather join her? If not, then youll do as your told."
"N-no sir. Yes sir." The soldier stuttered and hurried out the door. General Red sighed and looked around the large control room, noticing that everyone was staring at him.
"WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT?!" he roared angrily. "Get back to work!" everyone immediately fixed their gazes on their control screens, not daring to risk another glance lest the General sentenced them to death as well. With everyone seemingly doing their job, General Red occupied himself with staring passively out the view port, just in time to see a chameleon body float by.
________________________________________________________________________
"That fool." Nash muttered after he had hung up with General Red. " If he keeps throwing about our already limited resources in such a wasteful manner, pretty soon well be using our own **** for shuttle fuel." Nash may have been only a ship Captain, but he was still very experienced and probably would have made a better leader than General Red could. In fact, he was a General himself before Red found an excuse to get him demoted thanks to that one incident.
It was a small accident that happened over twelve years ago, though General Red made sure Nash never forgot it. Andross had appointed General Red with the assault of Planet Cerinia, while General Nash was there to make sure that no one escaped his dragnet. Something about the Cerinians had Lord Andross severely worried and he wanted to be sure that none of them survived. He wouldnt tell them why. Nash put up the best defensive wall he could but somehow, despite his hard work, a small civilian class transport , no different than a family minivan, slipped through his defensive barrier and jumped to light-speed. Ever since then, theyve had to hunt down the single Cerinian that escaped and he was demoted to the Captain rank for the slip up. Now that they were working for a new power in the universe, their job was to catch the Cerinian girl instead of kill her, which made finding her that much more difficult.
"Captain, weve docked at the bio lab." Nash was startled out of his memories by the voice of his first in command, Lieutenant Bradly. He looked up to see the female iguana nearing the age of thirty smiling curiously at him. "You seem troubled. A penny for your thoughts?"
"Just thinking about stuff." Bradly nodded in understanding. Having been working for Captain Nash ever since he was known as "General Sam Nash", she found herself able to read him like a book.
"You know it wasnt your fault." She reminded him. "The patrol craft in that area had a faulty fuel line. It wasnt able to give chase. Besides," She smiled again. "Genocide was never your style. You care too much." Nash grinned sadly. There was a moment of uncomfortable silence before she finally spoke again. " You know, you could always defect to the Cornerians" she suggested.
"Out of the question." He said irritably. " Red already doesnt like me. If I were to even think about defecting, he would kill me on the spot. Besides, if I managed to live through General Red the Cornerians would probably throw me in military prison for all the war atrocities Ive committed during my life." Turning back to the console, he opened the file he had received form the technician on Reds ship and immediately saw the face of Wolf O Donnell. The mercenary hadnt been seen nor heard since his fall on Venom about seven years ago. The first time he and his team appeared they were normal looking enough. Wolf himself was a simple gray lupine with a patch over his eye with skills of a veteran. It was often said that Star Wolf could rival the skills of Star Fox. But after a mysterious visit to Lord Andross, they had mechanical upgrades to their bodies, giving them the skills of more like twenty veterans. No one knows by what miracle Star Fox had actually survived them. These mysterious mechanical upgrades were why their new employers were very interested in locating Wolf and the rest of the Star Wolf Team. He sighed as he stood from his captains chair and headed towards the door. " Stuck working for a tyrant, running from the strongest government in the Lylat System. I think this is what ancient civilizations call being stuck between a rock and a hard place." He grumbled sarcastically.
" Maybe your were fated for this position." Bradly tried to comfort him as she followed a few steps behind.
" I control my own fate." He said darkly as the doors closed behind him. They walked down the hall and rode the freight elevator down to the air docks, which were now open to the pier connected to the Bio lab. Many of his men were already out here with boxes and crates of weapons and armor open. A soldier noticed him disembarking and immediately saluted. " Captain Nash, sir, were ready to begin the infiltration of the lab."
"Good. Ready the teams and let them know Im coming with." Nearly every singly soldier who heard him stopped and stared in disbelief.
"But sir, It would be very dangerous in there! Are you sure you think its necessary?"
"Of course." He said stubbornly. " Im tired of the boring captains chair where I just sit and give orders and give that ****ed General Red another excuse to put the blame on me! Now lets get ready." He said as he reached into the crates. " Were going to make this mission count." Everyone lagged for a couple seconds before finally returning to what they were working on. Satisfied, Nash pulled out a kevlar vest and strapped it around his waist. He knew that kevlar only repelled shrapnel while they were dealing with possible laser fire, but if things were gonna get hot, any form of protection would be needed. With the vest secure, he reached into another crate and pulled out the basic laser pistol. It was standard issue in the Venomian Army and would be good for getting out of tight situations. The last crate he reached into with some boyish mirth as he pulled out a large tank destroyer class rapid fire plasma cannon. T.D.R.F.P.C., or Trash Maker as they liked to call it. A big, black, two handed weapon with about twelve barrels and two triggers. It probably wasnt the weapon to use against Wolf since their mission was to bring him back alive, but with the big fascination the good doctor Andross had with building bio weapons big and dangerous, it would more than likely be needed.
With the plasma cannon in hand and the laser pistol on his waste, Captain Gantly looked around proudly at his regiment, who were more or less equally as prepared as he was. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a layout of the lab and spread it over one of the closed containers.
"Okay everyone, this is it. Gather round." Nash raised his voice so he could be heard. The soldiers moved closer to him in order to see the layout. " Its going to be dangerous in there, so be on your guard and consider anything you dont know a dangerous opponent. Now, this building is split between floors both above and below the sea line. Most of these floors are below the water line. Three are above it. Now if Wolf really is here, he must have brought his Wolfen fighter with him. It would have been too much trouble for him to lower it to one of the underwater floors so were going to start with one of the top three floors and look for the Wolfen before we take any unnecessary risks by searching the lower floors. Any questions?"
"Sir, no sir!" the masses replied in unison.
"Good." He smiled as he shouldered his plasma cannon. " Now move out!" A group of ten or so soldiers saluted before approaching the double doors leading into the lab. Four stopped about ten feet from the doors and readied their own plasma cannons. Two of them kneeled down while the other two stood behind them. Two approached each door while the last two stood at the ready. The four that now stood at the door looked back at Gantly as if they wanted to be sure he was still safe. Gantly nodded and with that confirmation, the fours soldiers kicked down the doors!
Everyone waited tensely with their cannons raised as if expecting some horrid creature to jump at them from the dark corridor now staring them in the face. Only after many seconds of quiet and motionlessness did they finally settled down.
"Okay everyone, lets go inside." Nash sighed as he stood up to follow the troops now walking towards the door.
Suddenly without warning a pair of turret cannons extended from the ceiling. The muzzles glowed a dark red as they began to power up.
" The Auto-Defense System!" a soldiers voice yelled. "Pull back!"
TSEW TSEW TSEW TSEW! The laser cannons began firing rapidly at the now retreating soldiers. Five went down immediately with holes burnt right through the middle, spilling blood all over the stainless steel pier. Some shots went awry and burned small circular holes through the weak hull of the ship still parked nearby. Nash managed to duck behind a steel crate just in time to avoid a laser blast aimed at his head. Many soldiers took his lead and managed to find shelter behind various crates and other storage devices.
"Take out those turrets, men!" he shouted over the screams and the laser fire. " We cant get in there until these turrets are dealt with!" As if in emphasis, Nash then jumped up and fired his laser cannon at one of the turrets. The turret flashed for a moment before it erupted with a small explosion, sending sparks and metal fragments all over the place. Gantly breathed a small sigh of relief, but was quickly replaced with a gasp as two more turrets extended from the ceiling and proceeded to fire upon the hapless Venomian troops.
"Its a Gorgon Defense Grid!" a soldier close by shouted with fear. " We cant beat that, Captain! Every turret we take down, two more will take its place. Its unstoppable!"
"Everything has its limits." Nash reminded him through gritted teeth as he felt the heat off a nearby laser blast. " These things will run out sooner or later. Keep firing." Gantly stood again and ran to another crate a little closer to the turrets, strafing them with the laser cannon as he did. As he ducked safely behind the crate, he could hear a few explosions from where his shots connected. When he looked up again, he was staring at an army of twelve turrets lining the door to the lab. He looked around and saw various degrees of fear and hopelessness on many faces. Some had stopped firing back all together.
"Dont give up!" he shouted, trying not to sound desperate. " Keep shooting!" He blasted three more, and was relieved to see that they were no longer being replaced.
" Now is our chance! They ran out of turrets!" an Orangutan soldier said excitedly. He jumped up and began running forward, blasting away with his pistol as he went.
"What do you think youre doing?!" Nash shouted at him. " Get out of the way, you ****ed idiot! Youre gonna get shot!" the soldier didnt have time to respond when a red beam of light tore through his left shoulder, sending blood through the air. The soldier cried out in pain and dropped his gun, falling to his knees as the pain overrode his senses. Nash watched in horror as the turret powered up for another shot, aiming dead center at the soldiers chest. He didnt even think as he ran out into the battle, hoping he could get there in time.
TSEW! The red beam of light passed just over his head and blackened the dock as Nash tackled the wounded primate to the ground and out of the way of the deadly laser. He wrapped his arms around the soldier in an attempt to lift him, but he was just too much to move. Nashs head snapped around as he heard the laser charge up for a third shot. It was locked right on both him and the wounded soldier. His heart began to beat uncontrollably as he watched helplessly. This was not the way he wanted to die.
KRACK-BOOM! The air snapped like a whip as a concussion grenade impacted the lead turret and exploded on contact. The turret was destroyed instantly and four others where terminated in the shockwave. The remaining turrets were quickly dealt with by other soldiers with simple lasers blast, so they were no longer in danger of being shot.
They had taken the front door.
Nash looked to where the grenade had come from to see Bradly standing on a crate with a smoking grenade launcher in her hands. They shared a brief smile before a groping hand clutched the front of Nashs jumpsuit, attracting his attention. It was the wounded soldier, whom Nash had saved. The captain winced as he saw the lifeless hunk of flesh that used to be the soldiers left arm, deemed useless by the laser burn. His face was contorted in pain as he clung to Nashs uniform, making it almost impossible for the soldier to be heard when he began to speak.
" S-sorry Captain. I-I guess I l-let the t-team down." He muttered weakly.
"Dont say that." Nash scolded. " Everyone soldier is expected to make a few mistakes in his lifetime. It cant be helped. All that can be done is try to live through it and learn from it for next time. We sacrificed no more than what we needed to in this battle, and after youre feeling better, youll be a better soldier for it." Nash was somewhat surprised when the injured man laughed weakly.
" I dont think I-Im going to live l-long enough t-to learn, Captain." He said weakly. " I lost too much blood f-from that l-last attack."
"Crazy talk!" Nash said stubbornly, starting to get a bit panicky. " Youll be fine. You just have to try to get better. Youre not fated for this."
" Oh p-please captain." The soldier said chastisingly. " A man can only change his fate w-when its n-not upon him. I-Im going to d-die here, sir, and t-there is n-nothing either of us c-can do about it." Nash wanted to say something, anything that would fix the problem. But the fact of the matter was that the soldier was right: there was nothing he could do.
"D-dont worry about it Captain. I-I just want you to know It was an h-honor to serve under you." The soldier smiled one last time, then closed his eyes. His grip on Nashs shirt front loosened, then his hand dropped lifelessly to the ground.
Nash stood up, his face bearing no expression. Bradly dropped the Grenade Launcher and ran over to his side. She took him by the arm, a look of concern in her eyes.
"Captain, are you okay?" she asked worriedly.
"Sure Im fine." He said, pulling way from his first in command as he did. He looked up and motioned for another soldier to come here. The man Nash chose immediately ran over to him and saluted.
"Get a medic team down here to take care of the wounded. And give the dead a proper burial at sea." Bradly watched painfully as Nash gave one last look to the motionless body on the floor, before turning and heading to the all but forgotten Biolab.
"Okay everyone, lets move." He called out as he walked by the troops left alive and unhurt. " We still have a mission to complete." He shouldered his Plasma Cannon and approached the door as the remaining troops gathered behind him. "Lets not make anymore careless mistakes." Bradly watched her captain uncertainly as he walked into the building. Finally she ran over to pick up her grenade launcher before running after him into the darkness.

The chameleon backed away as did everyone else as General Reds rage and frustration over the last few years finally slipped through.

"Its amazing how they say its an emergency and then they have his secretary keep me waiting out here for hours." Fox grumbled in annoyance. He looked up at the clock and measured himself to have been their about two hours and fifty minutes now. Fox stood and paced around impatiently. Nothing bothered him more than having his time wasted.
"Mr. McCloud." Fox looked up to the receptionist who called his name. " General Pepper will see you know." Fox nodded and the receptionist pressed a button on her desk. There was a buzzing sound, then the door behind her swung open. Fox walked through and was greeted by the visage of the elderly hound sitting at his desk. The door closed automatically behind him.
General Pepper opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by an annoyed Fox.
"Whats the deal having your boys hunt me down as soon as I pull into port like some urgent business, then having me wait in your lobby for hours?" he complained. General Pepper frowned.
"Paperwork, Fox. And you know that if you were with the army, that comment would require serious reprimanding."
"Two reasons why I didnt stay with the army." Fox scoffed. " The paperwork, and the chain of command." General Pepper cleared his throat.
"Well, while your here, you should take a" General Pepper stopped when he saw that Fox had already sat down. " Youre not one for formalities, are you?" he said bluntly.
"You should know me by now, General." Fox responded. "So what am I looking at here? Scolding for doing something illegal? Trying to get me to join the army again? Or" he paused for emphasis. " You have a death defying mission for me, despite the fact that in my last transmission, I clearly stated that I was on vacation?" he glared at the old hound as if daring him to agree. General Pepper sighed. It was always a tough time trying to talk to Fox in person.
"I know youre on vacation." General Pepper began apologetically. " But we have no one else who can do it. It would only be a reconnaissance mission. Simply in and out and find out what the bad guys are up to. What do you say?"
" I say its your problem." Fox grumped, sitting back in his chair with his arms crossed. " I just got out of a mission to some crazy falling-apart-magic-planet you sent me to, and I intend to enjoy my vacation. If your boys cant handle it, then they need better training."
"Please Fox." Pepper begged. " You have the experience on your side. A large force has overrun our bases on Katina and taken over. We believe they might be Venomian Troops." Fox ears pricked up at the mention of Venomian and quickly sat up in his chair.
"Venomians?" Fox asked. He couldnt help but remember that large Venomian force Krystal had mentioned earlier. Maybe they had finally returned home. General Pepper was encouraged by Foxs sudden interest.
" Spy satellites picked up a large force of Venomians seizing our bases on Katina about nine this morning. We also got a bit of sketchy reports from our boys there before the Venomians cut the power. We couldnt see a motive behind this sudden attack and the Venomians are usually not this sloppy. We think they might have an ulterior motive and we need you to find out what that motive is without showing our hand. Because the last thing we need is another all out war." Fox gulped. He could remember the last time Venomians caused all out war. It had resulted in the death of both his mother and father, leaving him an orphan at the young age of thirteen. Peppy had been his surrogate father until Fox was old enough to run the Star Fox Team and get even with Andross for all the pain and suffering he had caused Then again seven years later at Dinosaur Planet. Now Fox was interested. It was a mission where only he would be involved, where if he did his job right, no one else would get hurt. Not Corneria, not Peppy, not Falco, not Slippy, not Krystal
"General Pepper." Fox said slowly. " I accept this mission."
So that is what I have so far. Currently in the process of writing chapter 4, whciih describes the venomian hunt for Wolf. Again, any constructive criticism or story point ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know the Star Fox series very well, so I can't really judge if the character personalities match, but with Fox being like leader and all I, I can his personality through the fan-fic.
It just seems to be moving slowly, the majority of it is basicaly diaologe between characters and there really isn't much action going on, but since it just up to chapter 3 maybe thats how you wanted it planned.
Also, it would be a better thing to do to post chapters more steadily, insted of just dumping the reader with so much, that it gets predictable on what happens next. Its better to post chapter at a time, it leaves something that makes readers come back XD.

The thing I don't like posting that slowly though is that then I tet suggestions for the next chapter, which in reality has already been completed. so I save both myself and the reader trouble by letting them know exactly how much I have done.
edit; And besides, in what I have of chapter 4 I crammed in so much action I think I over did it.
