Do you feel that Black and White were more for kids?

Well, I just thought that Black and White has been MUCH easier than the other games. You get to battle legendaries as much as you want, the level of the pokemon in the E4 have been drastically reduced the first time through compared to kanto, johto, and hoenn, and you get given stronger pokemon. I think the only hard part is ghetis's hydregion. but what do you think?
Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites. -Karen

Just making a game 'easier' doesn't mean it's for kids, and in any case, I didn't feel that it was. The unfamiliarity of the new Pokemon was enough to add that extra level of difficulty for me, as well as the engineered level jumps. It was possible to beat Iris with a very low-levelled team, which made the Elite Four kind of difficult, and then again after that was the infamous second half of Unova with its level 65+ Pokemon. It seemed fine to me.

No, definately no! Wait till E4 redux. Then you get lv. 71 for EACH AND EVERY E4 member, ad then champion is lvs. 75- 77 77 is very high!
Plus, more mature plot, and older characters. The wild pokemon SKYROCKET you can face a wild dragonite and tyrNITAR FOR A 1 % CHANCE IN SHAKING AREAS! Lv. 70 wilds

And u can't face legends whenever you want!

well the whole refacing legends thing isn't new. in the older games (as well as gen V) if you KOed a legend, you would just have to beat the elite four again and it would be there again for you.
but the reshiram and zekrom continuous re-battle is so you can proceed in the story.
all in all i think this gen was even geared to an older generation of players this time. i was happy when i saw the new main characters because i didn't feel like going out on another adventure at the age of ten.
but it had a simplicity to it that would attract younger players as well.

I thought it was actually aimed at more of an older audience this time round. The plot was more developed - as were the characters - which made the game a touch more immersive or realistic to me.

And I found whilst the pokemon may have been leveled lower, the difficulty level still remained quite consistent and it wasn't too easy.

Quite the contrary, i thought it was more difficult, its the First time I wiped on a gym leader in a LONG TIME, *1st time yellow version long* and it Discourages you from power leveling one pokemon.

Plus the story was more complex... It was still slightly above mediocre bu it isnt, Go stop team rocket/aqua/magma/plasma/Ect. because they are EVIL. Alot of them thought they were doing the right thing, although all the comments from the grunts at the end disipointed me.

Actually the game seemed to improve for Kids and Adults under all catigoties EXCEPT the fact that this generation solely brought the most abomination pokemon than any 2 other games gens combined.

Not at all... I actually found it more for older teenagers this time around. I don't see where it was easier than any of the past games... in fact, I found D/P/Pt to be more for "kids" and easier than any of the other games. B/W, though, I felt was somewhere in the middle.

I don't know Isn't the term "just for kids" subjective? It really matter on how you determine "kiddish" behavior. Doesn't it?

I mean I watch anime and my girlfriend says that it is childish to watch cartoons, no matter how deep the plotline is.

So now I watch them in secret under the covers with the lights turned off. (renting an apartment in college suuuuucks when your roomie/gf doesn't approve of what you're doing.)

The point is you can like different things in pokemon games the art, gameplay, characters etc etc, and enjoy those things without being ostracized or judged as a kid for it.

Agreeing with most others. However, I think the storyline is aimed at an older audience, but it makes enough sense so that kids first playing can understand it. But the easiness is only due to getting kids into the games for the first time.

I think it balances both age groups fine.

I found no discernible difference in difficulty as compared to the older Pokemon games. If anything though, B/W are a lot more mature simply because of the darker story. XD
I agree with you. I didn't find the difficulty any different. And yeah, the story is definitely for an older audience. I wouldn't understand it if I were little.

It had a deeper story.
On the other hand, it did dumb a few things down. They filtered names, made TMs reusable, and made poison almost exactly like burn. Still a great game, nonetheless.

I want to say the battles were also a lot easier, but it might just be me getting older.

I thought it was the same as all other games. It had its challenges, versing Ghetis and N after the E4, the outrageous level jumps, traveling back and fourth through the map etc. With the lack of Surf it just had straight forward routes (except P2 lab and route 18) so there were easy and hard parts.

As for the game being suited for children, I think all the games are suited from young children to young adults. There are various levels of complexities in pokemon and I think B/W was the same.

The Pokemon series has always been a game primarily aimed at kids but generally has a peripheral demographic. I don't see how it is any different with Black and White.

It had a deeper story.

There is a difference between dumbing down and improving. What does filtering names have to do with a dumbing the game? Is it about Cohagrigus because that would be a security issue not a gameplay one. TMs being reusable just removes the incredibly tedious task of getting the TMs over and over again. Removing the out-of-battle poison damage is a good thing. I would actually be amazed if anyone actually liked having their Pokemon getting damaged constantly for having poison out-of-battle.

Dumbing down would be something like simplifying the battle system, like removing the hidden values and such. Those changes you mentioned were just made for convenience.

Besides all the random doctors and nurses everywhere, and the "fall behind in training and get more exp so it's easier to catch up" part of it, Black and White seemed pretty similar to other games. However, the whole storyline and plot this time around seemed a little more complicated. Or is it just me?
