just got it. its a model t3042, i think i heard bad about it.
There's next to no info on the net for that model. Give us the spec when you get the chance.

Also, if you can gt your hands on it, 1GB of ram is a good idea, even for basic use.

It's a AMD Sempron 3000+(no clue what that means) and it's 2.0 GHrz with 448 MB of RAM.

Graphics:Nvidia Gforce 4 MX Integrated GPU.

Everything works fine and is alot faster than my previous machine. However I'm going to hold off on moving my other drives into this one. I have a Bentec PSU which I heard fails easily. It might be okay If I give it room to breath and keep the temperature at a good rate.

When I got it it had XP. But the jey expired and since my XP disc was....(burned) it didn't have the Boot file where it could load up by just turning on my machine. So I had to put 98 on here first before putting XP on here with a good key. Most of the drives have been updated via Windows Update except a couple for some reason.

PCI Bridge
SM Bus controller
and USB controller.

I wonder why, the USB ports work fine..

I couldn't justify getting a better PSU for that machine. For basic internet/jukebox use, it's okay, but the Sempron was AMD's super-budget CPU at the time.

If you're looking for drivers, you can usually check the manufacturer's website. I'll do it for you this time: http://support.gateway.com/us/en/emac/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=1540

Sadly, there's nearly nothing there.

When searching for drivers, you can open the device in Device Manager, look at the properties and go to the IDs tab. There, you can find the VEN and DEV 4-digit codes for each device.

Entering them here will help you find which device it actually is: http://www.pcidatabase.com/

Good luck.

Thanks for all that. I have driver scanner and have pretty much updated everything. Except IDE controllors or whatever, it said it was risky to update so I let it be.

As for the PSU, it's been doing okay, but still can never be too careful. I put one of the other drives in to get some more space. Usually the PSU gets a bit cool on its own after awhile, it hasn't today though. Wonder if it's because I put another drive in, or maybe I have to wait a bit. It's a 300 Watt PSU and I heard 350/400 are recommended ones. I have no money to upgrade the PSU sadly..

My temperature of the machine was 118 degrees fairenheit I believe(48 degrees celseuis) is that bad?

Actually I wouldn't say it's that bad. I remember my AMD Duron 1000+ 1ghz, lol I had Windows 7 on it with all the windows XP drivers (No BSOD XD), 1 gb of PC133 ram rofl, I also had an EVGA Nvidia 6200 with 512mb and it ran full aero xD I could play NFS MW at medium rofl 800x600 res with FPS hitting a bit over 40 and it was a 10 year old machine. If I could do that with a simple 40$ upgrade and that ooooold PC I bet you can equal me with that Emachine, Sempron == fuuuun, Owned 3 loved them, just get a nice graphic card. I'm guessing it's DDR1 so get atleast 2 512mb sticks a decent AGP/PCI card and you're good to go, you should be able to easily play games before 2005 with those 2 upgrades, not only that, anything that requires a graphic card (Youtube, flash intensive sites, etc, etc) Will love the PCI Graphic card... Only thing is finding it, Ebay, only place x3

I actually can play quite a few things, and youtube is good too. The graphics card isnt bad, but when I updated with Nvidia's drivers the in game graphics became crapped up and looked horrible, so I had to revert to the microsoft drivers. The only thing good about the newer driver basically was more resolutions were unlocked.

My PC is barely able to play dreamcast though, it can at like 20 frames, but it was with Sonic and I heard that game has problems on a computer, haven't tried any others. MGS 2 plays well.

Still, that Sempron (Even tho you might call it "Weak") has a lot of potential and the On-board GFX card ain't that bad but it could be better. Also, don't let that fool ya, Nvidia is famous for it's drivers, I'm sure they did something else to increase performance in certain games. I'd say try installing again, maybe corrupted install?

http://cgi.ebay.com/nVIDIA-GeForce-6200-256-MB-PCI-Dual-VGA-Video-Card-SFF-/270742112183?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item3f097cc7b7

That ^ paired with a gig of ram should allow you to play even GTA SA on medium with a nice resolution. I know you don't want gaming specificly but it will also take some stress off the board and release some ram, it'll also allow you to keep the PC for longer, even if it's a bit outdated... Lol, sorry I'm probly getting overexited for ya xD I'm just like that when I get old PCs.

Lol, no its fine. I really like the machine, when I have money I'll most definatly get some more ram. Only problem is my PSU, the other day it smelt like burnt popcorn for a moment(which means bad)..
