Grocery shopping poll FTW! If you don't do grocery shopping yourself yet, answer as if you were your parents/whoever does the shopping.

Where do you prefer to do your grocery shopping? Any store in particular?

How much do you buy? A variety of food to feed the entire family or just snacks an drinks to tide you over between meals at college?

Do you try store brands? What do you think of them?

Do you like grocery shopping?

As for me:

I prefer shopping at a regional southeastern grocery store chain called Harris Teeter. The stores are clean and bright and I know my way around them and prices are pretty good. Yes, Wal Mart Supercenters are cheaper, but I can't stand their drab stores or the questionable quality of their store brands.

Since I have no cooking ability, my shopping is usually limited to sodas, juice, snacks, and whatever other necessities I might need (paper products, batteries, cleaning supplies, etc.) My mom typically buys a whole bunch of stuff, though.

I use store brands quite a bit, and most I've found to be quite good, and cheap :P One exception: Wal-Mart's sodas and snacks suck and I stay clear of them.

I don't mind my quickie trips to the grocery store, but I don't like those extended trips to the store my mom takes. I usually stay at home for those (and also because she likes to shop at the dreaded Wal-Mart).

I prefer to shop at Food 4 Less, which is a western supermarket chain that has very good fruits & veggies. My sister & brother in law prefer to go to Walmart, but we both made a deal: I do my own shopping, while they do theirs.

How much do you buy? A variety of food to feed the entire family or just snacks an drinks to tide you over between meals at college?
I tend to buy $80-90 worth or groceries. Double that price if I went and shopped for two weeks worth. And it's just for myself.

Do you try store brands? What do you think of them?
I usually stay away from store brands. Brand names ftw!

Do you like grocery shopping?
I kinda do, and sometimes I don't. I consider this a chore for me.

Where do you prefer to do your grocery shopping? Any store in particular?
Our family usually goes to three places, which would be Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, or Save-A-Lot. Depends on what time it is and what mood my mom is in at the time.

How much do you buy? A variety of food to feed the entire family or just snacks an drinks to tide you over between meals at college?
We buy a variety (both meals and snacks), and enough to at least let us have enough food for about one-two weeks. This varies though, depending on the last time we went shopping and how much food we have left when we do go shopping. The price usually doesn't exceed $200 though.

Do you try store brands? What do you think of them?
We don't usually buy store brands, so I don't really have much of an opinion. However, there have been some store brands that I've actually liked more than the other brand, and vice versa. With this, I can say that it would depend on which store brand we're talking about.

Do you like grocery shopping?
I do. I prefer it much more than clothes shopping, but perhaps that might change when I start shopping on my own. I also usually have my sister with me when we're shopping, which brings laughs and giggles sometimes. Shopping alone would probably make the experience less fun.

Target. Cheaper than anywhere else around here, and I get %15 off every time I shop there.

How much do you buy? A variety of food to feed the entire family or just snacks an drinks to tide you over between meals at college?
Depends on who I'm shopping for.

Do you try store brands? What do you think of them?
I prefer whatever's cheapest because the taste difference is negligible for the money you save buying the cheapest one.

Do you like grocery shopping?
Not really. It makes me hungry and I find it boring.

Where do you prefer to do your grocery shopping? Any store in particular?: Safeway. I've gone there so many times that I'm rather fond of it.

How much do you buy? A variety of food to feed the entire family or just snacks an drinks to tide you over between meals at college?: I buy enough to feed the family, as well as snacks that I want.

Do you try store brands? What do you think of them?: I don't really remember.

Do you like grocery shopping?: It's okay I guess.

Where do you prefer to do your grocery shopping? Any store in particular?
For larger grocery runs, I just go to Wal-Mart. Do it every paycheck. I usually need something non-food anyway so Wal-Mart is the easiest. :/
I prefer this local-owned grocery store right by the mall. It's on my way home, and it's small, so if I know what I want I'm very in and out. Only problem is it's not as cheap as other places, so I avoid doing super large grocery runs there.

How much do you buy? A variety of food to feed the entire family or just snacks an drinks to tide you over between meals at college?
On paydays I get enough to last about a week or so, and enough meals to actually be meals. After payday, I buy small amounts, usually not more than $20. At that point I have to carry it home in my backpack, so I can't get too much.

Do you try store brands? What do you think of them?
I get store brands all the time. They're cheaper, and for most things I can't tell the difference. Some items I'll buy name-brand, though. Like syrup, apparently...

Do you like grocery shopping?
Yeeeeeees. I love food. :)

Grocery stores = my favorite topic.

Where do you prefer to do your grocery shopping? Any store in particular?
My family has shopped at the same store for nearly thirty years now. It's the same store that I work at currently, so of course we shop there. I get a 10% discount off my entire order, which helps with the bill. And since there hasn't been any problems at that store for that length of a time, we're going to continue shopping there.

How much do you buy? A variety of food to feed the entire family or just snacks an drinks to tide you over between meals at college?
Since I still live at home with my parents, the grocery bill encompasses the entire family. So we plan out meals and buy enough for the entire week to feed everyone. Including the pets. There's meals and snacks and necessary supplies that we buy.

Do you try store brands? What do you think of them?
If the store makes a version of the product in their brand, we get it. There are a few exceptions though, where there is a noticeable difference between store brand and name brand (like paper products). But since my family's all about saving money, we go with the cheaper-but-still-as-good product.

Do you like grocery shopping?
Quite, actually. It's my favorite kind of shopping to do. It's not like I can hate being in the store, since I work there. But even if I didn't work there, I find grocery stores so fun to walk around that I have fun shopping.

Where do you prefer to do your grocery shopping? Any store in particular? Family Dollar. Because of our stupid Super Wal-Mart that opened up five or six years ago, all our grocery stores have went out of business and I refuse to shop at Wal Mart unless I absolutely have to. So, I do most of my grocery shopping at Family Dollar. And I get the meat from Wal Mart because I have no choice...

How much do you buy? A variety of food to feed the entire family or just snacks an drinks to tide you over between meals at college? I usually just buy food to get me through a couple days. I don't do the main grocery shopping in this house.

Do you try store brands? What do you think of them? Pfft, all the time. I generally buy whatever is cheapest. In my opinion, there isn't much of a taste difference at all. The only brands I'm picky about are Campbells (it's the only soup I'll eat) and soda. The taste of store brand soda is gross.

Do you like grocery shopping? No.

I love grocery shopping, mainly because I love cooking. I shop at Fry's out here in Tucson, they have great selection and good prices so I can't imagine going to any other store.

I like grocery shopping for myself since i'm so picky with food and I can make sure I get all the right flavors and food :) I mainly shop at our near by grocery stores, but once a week I go to an organic food store to get my gluten free dairy free good food since there isn't much of a selection in regular stores around here just yet for that.

I'm just gonna say right now that I hate grocery shopping. XD;

Where do you prefer to do your grocery shopping? Any store in particular?
I like the Loblaw's stores because they have the President's Choice brand of stuff that I really like. And their Blue Menu ("healthy, low-fat" stuff like breads, sauces, etc.) are actually pretty good, too.

How much do you buy? A variety of food to feed the entire family or just snacks an drinks to tide you over between meals at college?
I don't cook, so I buy a lot of canned stuff and fruit if I'm buying things for myself. But my parents do the groceries sooo...

Do you try store brands? What do you think of them?
Oops, guess I answered this question already. XD The Loblaw's President's Choice items are pretty good (I especially like their pad thai sauce - the best pad thai you can have that's not from a restaurant imo).

Do you like grocery shopping?
I answered this already too omg. I should really check these questions before talking! Anyway, no, I don't like it haha.

Well, they're cheaper and my mom does like cheap things, so she tends to buy them.

Do you like grocery shopping?

Nahh. I don't really like it.

My family shops at Wal-Mart, as we live close to the town where it started, and because we don't really see anything negative there like some of the posters before me have. We occasionally go to Target, but they don't have produce so..

How much do you buy? A variety of food to feed the entire family or just snacks an drinks to tide you over between meals at college?
We just usually get enough to get us through the week. Occasionally we will go during the week to pick up something else, but we don't do that very often.

Do you try store brands? What do you think of them?
It just depends on what it is. We usually don't though, unless we have tried it and know that it is okay.

Do you like grocery shopping?
Generally, yes, but I usually depends on what I am doing/want to do when we go.

Safeway and Target for me. I always go there, as they're near by, and usually have everything I need.

I buy a lot, but we don't go to Grocery stores often. It's kind of buying stuff to survive until the next trip.

Do you try store brands? What do you think of them?
I've tried a few, but I stick to regular brands most of the time.
Do you like grocery shopping?
Yes. It's fun to buy stuff. XD
I like getting out of my house, every once in a while. It's fun not doing hw.

I tend to go to the Publix across the street from my apartment complex the most because for one, it's closest, and for two, it often has buy-1-get-1-free sales on things I get a lot like cheap pasta, snacks, Mountain Dew, and cat food. A friend of mine from school also works there.

The other store I go to is the fanciest Kroger ever (Krogers are normally kind of dumpier than Publix as they're the 'cheaper' store). I go there when I need to buy a lot and spend less and for things that they have that Publix doesn't carry (which is actually a lot of stuff). I like that they have a self-checkout, too.

We go grocery shopping nearly every day. Sometimes multiple times a day.

We pick up all of our lunch stuff (cold cuts, cheese, antipasti) at a nearby Italian food outlet. Buns, we try to get from a nearby bakery when we can.

Most everything else comes from the two major grocery stores in the area.

When we need seafood, we go to a nearby seafood wholesaler.

I like food shopping. I like all shopping, really, but food shopping means I can take a drive to the supermarket and have a wander round and not feel guilty for buying a lot of stuff, considering nothing it massively expensive (as opposed to DVD or clothes shopping, where lots of stuff IS expensive)! For the most part, I go to Sainsbury's, as it's relatively near to my house, has a fairly wide-ranging selection and has good parking facilities. It's not massively cheap, but it's not horribly expensive either.

With regards to own-branded products, I tend to avoid them on the whole. I don't think I'm a brand snob but, for the most part, my parents will have tested them out on my brother and I when we were younger, and we'd have revolted at them! I guess it's from that, really...
