Hey look its a me.

Anyways I'm at my grandparents computer/house. And they are running Windows vista as far as I can tell. But their taskbar has a Windows 98 design /so no areo. and their IE looks, not normal as well.
The only details I got from her rightnow is that she had a question pop up on her computer (im not sure what she was doing at the time) that said something like "are you running windows 98" she clicked yes.
Sorry if this is a bit confusing.

I have the same in my parents' PC as well (running Windows Vista). That's because Windows Aero is turned off so that way the computer can run smoothly and a bit faster.

Patchisou showed a good link about it, adjusting from best appearence to best performance changes how the computer runs. It's recommended to read carefully on each checkbox so you won't mess anything up. xD

They didnt know how it got there, so i doubt its that "old feeling" lol.

Yeah it was for the performance. How they did it, I dont know. My laptop usualy goes to windows basic /so no areo.

Thanks.

If you know what you're doing use msconfig.
This. You're pretty safe if you ONLY stick to the Startup tab. NOT Services. Don't remove touchpad or sound utilities. Graphics and antivirus need to stay, too.
