we all know the drill, if you don't want a pokemon you go to any pc and release it. but the question is where do you think they go?

discuss, but keep the flaming to yourselves ok?
oh my god! my account still exists in this kiddie pool? guess what! these mods you are all bowing down to? they're all kids themselves! I swear it's like a real adult working at burger world and bowing down to the acne faced dweeb that is doing his high school homework in his little office while yelling at you to clean out the grease trap! it's just a freaking game!!!! eventually you will all grow out of it!!! see you in the real world. I'm out!!!

That's where they go...

75% of Pokemon gamers use cheats and specially made codes to make their pokemon battle-worthy. If you are one of the 25% percent that level their Pokemon up legally, put this in your signature.
I don't calculate stat values, I don't breed my way to perfection, and I don't care about natures. I catch my Pokemon the way they are, and treat them like individuals instead of brainless drones. If you use this philosophy, copy & paste this into your signature (however, I do build competitive movesets and do minimal EV training, just not ignore the Pokemon based on stats ;)).

I always thought about that and wondered. Say you were breeding Zangoose for the perfect one. You breed 50 of them, and then release every single one. What happens to all the Seviper? Do they all get eaten?!

There once was a group of people that breeded a seal for 10 years, and when they finally set it out into the wild it got eaten by a killer whale. (true story)

So there you have it...they get eaten by Wailords.

Actually when you release a Pokemon from your game you are actually deleting Pokemon and they cannot be retrieved. ETC legendaries for example. Once they are gone they are gone forever unless you clone them before tossing or you start over by formatting your game from the way it was brand new.:)

I think they are all gathering in the Dream World, lying in wait, plotting my death.

I had always hoped that the Pokemon franchise would have made this feature a bit more interesting...

I've always thought it would be neat if the Pokemon you release into the wild really did go back into the wild, but with it's stats intact. Obviously, there would be a limit to the number that would do this, but it would have been a neat hidden feature to randomly have a chance to encounter an old friend, or see another Pokemon Trainer NPC with it. =P

If I release a Pokemon, I do it in the city next to the route I caught it on, or if it was bred, next to where a lot of those Pokemon are found in the wild. I can't bear the thought that they have to travel half the region to get 'home' lol

They get sent back to the wild.

When I was younger, I always thought that we could encounter that same pokemon again xD

Agree with the poster above me. ^

Besides the Pokemon going to the wild again, maybe they could get caught by other trainers again. In technical terms, they just get deleted. xD

Because you can't catch them again I assume they either go to a shelter or something or they never encounter trainers because the feel no reason to.

There are the other possibility:
- They are alive after we released that pokemon. For Pokemon that smart enough to remember how to return to their origin place, they will return. For Pokemon that can't remember the road, they will just get lost, or probably get killed by other species at other wild area.
- They are also alive, but they are killing their self after we released that Pokemon, because they feel be dumped.
- They are just death when you released it.

Haha, but imo they are just death when you released it.

Guys releasing a Pokemon is a form of deleting it from your game. Rather than saying delete they use something Pokemon related. Once you release a Pokemon no matter what level it is at does not mean that it will be catchable again. Once it is gone it is gone for good. The only way that you can retrieve a Pokemon that you deleted is to shut off your game before your next save. Once you save your game there is no way to retrieve it ever again. It is like deleting an email or something else XD. That is all RELEASE on your game means. It is to delete a Pokemon from your game. They really don't get released back into the wild XD.:)

Someone's taking this a bit literally. We're talking about it flavourfully, what it means to 'release' a Pokemon. Obviously the Pokemon gets deleted, I mean what is 'the wild' in the game? Nowhere.

IMO, they just get... released, I guess ._. Into the wild, I guess. Pokemon are smart, they're not like animals who'll get used to people. They can adapt.
Everything ends,
and that's always sad.
But everything begins again, too,
and that's always happy.
