    Version Exclusives

We all know that there are plenty of Pokemon that can only be obtained in White, or in Black, but not in both. These version exclusives have their ups and downs, making it impossible to complete the local Pokedex on your own, but also making for some interesting differences between versions. They also share many similarities, such as Vullaby vs. Rufflet and Solosis vs. Gothita.

    Discuss:
-How version exclusives affected or did not affect the version you chose
-Whether or not one version has an advantage over the other due to exclusives
-The benefits of having version exclusives, and whether all new Pokemon should be catchable in both games

For reference, here are the exclusives in each game:

Personally, I think White has the best Pokemon exclusives, though it isn't why I chose the version I did (since I got both but White is my main). I noticed though, that most of White's exclusives line up the exclusives of my past games, so it kinda works out.

Though I do think Basculin should be exclusive to each version and not just "rare", same for Sawk/Throh. Disappointed when I found that out. :(

I'm not sure. White has Solosis, while black can get Shroomish, and therefore Breloom.

It's a tough choice, but I think I'd have to say white. Solosis and its family are so much cooler than Gothita and co.

As much as I wanted to play White first due to its "better" version exclusives, I went with Black instead because of Reshiram.

I love all of Black's exclusives (except Gothitelle line sorry sorry) but I would love to have Thundurus and Reuniclus if I could. Those are the two big ones from White that I wasn't able to get myself cos I had Black. >:O

I think that if they indeed made all Pokemon catchable in the next generation, they'll need to do a lot of varying with rarity levels. Like, it should be possible to catch everything on your own should you want to but it'd be much much easier if you were to trade between the versions. Things that are rare in one game would be common in the other etc and promote a lot of trading. :B

Yes, I'm supposed to get Black but White has a better Pokemon so I went for White instead.

As I said, frankly, I think White exclusives are better. Plus, it has more version exclusive (Including White Forest)... so...

I would have originally gotten White purely for Petilil and Lilligant, but I also wanted Black for Reshiram, so I got that one instead. I now have realised that Cottonee is at par with them, and even though White has Reuniclus and that family, Black yields Sawk primarily, as well as Volbeat, Shroomish and Vullaby/Mandibuzz, which I think personally are better than their White version counterparts. :)

Can't you just trade a Cottonee for Petilil anyway? So those aren't exactly version exclusives...

Actually, according to me version exclusives SHOULDN'T be there, because people like me, in countries like India, don't get access to the Wi-Fi from the DS, plus, there isn't any support and Pokemon people playing here.

I actually purchased White for Zekrom xD I was also happy to find out that all of White's exclusives are actually pretty good, some of which are my favorites. Reuniclus and Braviary = awesomeness :3

I wanted Mismagius and Solosis sooo bad, but bought Black because of Gothitelle D: I'm still happy w/ Black but I want to know how White Forrest is.. D:

About that... it seems like the White exclusives are getting better treatment than the Black exclusives. Makes me sad tho because I am currently playing white but I hate hate hate Renuclus because it's too perfect and gets special treatment while they treat their other like a POS. They spent more time on that Pokemon then they did making Gothitelle just as good as everyone else.

I think that's the idea behind version exclusives - you have to have people that have either version. And the people who can't find someone with the other version will probably have to go buy it if they want to get them. REMEMBER CHILDREN, MONEY IS EVERYTHING. :(

They're still unobtainable in the wild in opposite games which "technically" makes them exclusives. :c

I think both of them have good exclusives, but I picked white because...of the forest I guess.

Lol, but really, after buying the second game, I get the version exclusives, but to trade them I'll still need another DS. Which, btw, is pretty rare here.

lmao, I prefer Black exclusives over White, just because Reshiram is damn sexy, Gothitelle is a tank, Beedrill over Butterfree anyday, Whimsicott can destroy Lilligant, and Mandibuzz has access to Dark Pulse without breeding.

Oh, and, first pure Flying-type ever. Suck it.

Well, I mainly got White for Zekrom (HE'S BLACK, OH YES!). But, I agree with ohsoRANDOM, the Black exclusives are better (Except for Zekrom :P).
