I made a thread in new users with my old account asking if there was a way to wipe my data and if they still did name changes. They told me no, so I posted on this account and..
My thread got removed by Meganium. But I read the announcement and it said "make a new account if you want a new user name from now on"...
Someone please explain, my head hurts :12:

You aren't allowed to make a new introduction thread. A simple post in your old thread(so long as it hasn't rolled over the death date) saying: this is my new account would be sufficient. It's to prevent the actual new members from being missed. If you don't have a thread to post in, you could go around and VM/PM your old friends. Hope this helps.

Then perhaps Meganium removed it because your thread wasn't so much an introduction or something? If you want to know the reason you can shoot her a PM. She is also a new moderator, or so I've heard, so it isn't like she is abusing power or holding personal grudges, just learning the ropes a bit. It'd be best though, like I said, to message Meganium and ask her why it was removed.

EDIT:

Just checked your thread. She checked the IPs and they matched up, of course. I'm guessing that she didn't realize that it was your new account? But like I said, it'd be best to ask her.

Yeah, I think the mod just misunderstood what you were doing and thought that you were sockpuppeting, using another account and pretending it wasn't related to your original. Unless you got an infraction for it (which I doubt you did), I wouldn't worry about it, it's just a locked thread. :)

Wait... You can check IPs? Now I'm a little scared. I'm not socking, I can assure you that, but it's really that easy to do?

Staff can check the IP of an individual who has posted in the board that they moderate. This is to check against any sock puppeting or any other rule breaking.
However, we do so with the greatest respect to a members privacy and only do it if we desperately need to.

Oh yes, so we can, I forgot about that. But my above comment still stands.

Checking IPs is built into the forum software itself pretty sure, so it's basically something mods can do on various forums like this one and I suspect with many others as well.
