I like the path Mario is on now for the core series. I wasn't super thrilled with the franchise from Super Mario 64 to Super Mario Galaxy.

But Super Mario Galaxy 2 completely blew me away. It captured the spirit of the original Mario sidescrolling platforming titles perfectly, but as a 3D adventure platformer instead. It did, in my eyes, what those previous 3D adventures could not replicate. It was what the two New Super Mario Bros. games should have been.

Super Mario Galaxy 2, for me, is entirely deserving of the title "Super Mario Bros. 4" (or 5, I guess, since Super Mario World is number four.)

And Super Mario 3D seems like it's going to be more in that vain, so I'm thrilled.

I still like the Kart series, but the other sports titles are needless. Back in the N64 days, Mario Golf and Mario Tennis were the best golf and tennis games out there, that's not the case anymore.

Personally, I don't think they should take it anywhere. Mario has been used for years and years and they have done pretty much every game possible, racing, football, tennis, normal platforms and so on.

I think if they want to keep releasing Mario games, they should just stick to their core games and not these horrible knock off games. Just my opinion.

Mario Solitaire!

Mario has always been an icon for Nintendo, they are already creating some new games for him on the 3DS, not sure what they'll come up with for the Wii U but I am sure it will sell well, like the majority of Mario games. The series has been milked and it always will be. If anything I would love to see another RPG with Mario or maybe a dark adventure like Epic Mickey(well how it originally was meant to be), and hopefully there are no FPS' xD

Time travel. He's been to space. Twice. How can you top that?
Or, alternatively, they don't do anything. Nintendo has dome almost everything with this series, and you can only re-release the classics/same game for so long before people catch wind of what you're doing.
There are 9 Mario Partys and they stopped being good around 3. :\
Both the 'core' and 'spinoff' series seem to be doing well. Both are starting to run dry I think.
@Neo- They tried that with Sonic. Remind me of how that went?

They already did time travel. Have you played Partners in Time?

There isn't really anything new that I can think of for Mario to do. The only thing I want to see is some support for some of my favorite Mario games, Paper Mario and Super Mario Sunshine. (and maybe a remake of Super Mario RPG)
What do you mean? Like a sequel to Super Mario Sunshine?

I like what they're doing right now. I enjoyed Galaxy 2, I love New SMB Wii and thought it was an amazing throwback, while still having it's own original flair. Throwback Galaxy teehee. But I agree with the Captain, the sports series needs to stop lmao. It's just ridiculous now. Kart is SUPER fun though. Keep that forever and ever Nintendo, please. lol <3

yeh i agree on the sequel for sunshine, really don't know what they could do though other than have different areas, powers etc. maybe a remake would be better suited?
i really do love mario's 3d games, and i hope they can do more games like that.

Well I can't say space due to Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 and I would say water levels but there are various of water levels in the Mario games and it would be pointless in my opinion to make a game based on Water. Fire would be stupid because he moves like a maniac when he gets burned....so I just say that Mario is perfectly fine the way he is. The new development of Nintendo gaming systems will of course make his appearance look a whole lot better.

I think that they should take Mario various places. They should definitely continue the core games, meaning the sidescrolling adventures as well as the 3D ones. I also like the Mario Kart series, and it's pretty successful already, so it should definitely be continued. Another thing that I would love to see continued would be the RPG series. I like what I've played of Super Mario RPG and The Mario and Luigi games, though I liked Super Mario RPG better. Paper Mario is also a very good series that should be continued. Other than that, I don't really think that there should be any more spin-offs. It's unneeded.

I kinda want the "New Super Mario Bros." sub-series to die-off. They're sub-par compared to Super Mario Bros 1 - 3, and Super Mario World.

Advances and game play features that were in 3 and World aren't in the two NSMB games and that's baffling. Just kill of the sub-series and bring us "Super Mario Bros. 5"

I agree with this. I love Mario and Luigi and Mushroom Kingdom, but I do not have any interest in seeing battle it out with Sonic the Hedgehog in the Olympic Games. Just stick to the core adventure games, plus MarioKart, and ditch all the rest.

Sidescrolling platformer games, 3D adventure games, RPGs, and Mario Kart. I'd leave it at that.

Tennis was a good game on the N64, Golf too, but now they're not and they're needless. As is all the other Mario sports stuff. Mario Part is dead. etc.

I'd keep the Wario, Luigi, and Yoshi games though. I see them as separate franchises

I agree; I've never really liked the New Super Mario Bros. series. It isn't is good as the older Super Mario Bros, and really shouldn't be gettting all of this attention. I liked the other Super Mario Bros that I've played(1-3, Advance) and Super Mario World. Nintendo really should revert back to the classics and just make Super Mario Bros. 5, as TRIFORCE89 said. The concept is getting really ridiculous, and the only new powerups that I really like are Ice Mario, Penguin Mario, and Boo Mario. They may as well just keep those powerups and make a new game. Either that, or New Super Mario Bros. "Mii" has to be a lot better than the others.
