As the title says, what's your favorite Harry Potter book and/or movie?

My favorite book wood have to be Order of Phoenix, and my favorite movie would have to be Goblet of Fire/Prisoner of Azkaban.

Order of Phoenix (Book) - It's one of my favorites because of the detail.
Spoiler:
The part when they go into the Ministry of Magic was by far one of my favorites, detailed. Very detailed. I can remember the detail Rowling put into the room they were in during the battle. I loved it. The battle I loved it. When Sirius died, I was shocked, but it still made me like it even more because of the twists and turns. And I'll admit, I haven't read it in a while and I forgot some things, but I'll read it again sometimes this year.

Favorite book is definitely Prisoner of Azkaban. I read it about 8 times one year, haha. I knew that thing front to back. As for movies, my favorite is Chamber of Secrets. Maybe it's cause it's the first one I saw...not really sure why it's my favorite, but it always will be I guess! PS: Watch it in Spanish. ;)

My favorite movie is definitely Prisoner of Azkaban. I like that it was kind of dark, but still had some good humorous bits. I love the Whomping Willow in that. It was a lot better than the ones before it, and the ones after it didn't seem as good on the whole.

Goblet of Fire was my favorite book. It was the latest one to come out when I first got into Harry Potter so it kinda left the biggest impression. The first three I read so quickly I can't really remember a lot that happened in them.

Half-Blood Prince is probably my second favorite book and movie. I just thought I should add that. :)

My favorite Harry Potter movie is Deathly Hallows part 1 because that's the only one I've watched. As for my favorite book.... I don't have one because I hate reading. >w<;

I haven't watched either of the previous two Harry Potter movies (the last one I saw was Half-Blood Prince when it was in the cinemas two years ago), so I really can't remember which movie was my favourite. For the time being I'll go with the Prisoner of Azkaban, though that's from memory.

As for my favourite books, I haven't read any of the books since I finished the last one shortly after it came out. The second half of the last book is probably my favourite, though the first half of that book was terrible and cancels it out, so I'll go with... the Half-Blood Prince here.

I think I like the 3rd most!
I like several of the characters introduced there :3 I was quite shocked how much info they skipped in the movie though D:
1~2 were already missing a lot but part 3 had so much missing that it made me wonder how people who haven't read the books can actually fully understand it. I've asked my boyfriend about it (he hasn't read the books) and he agreed - some things were simply not explained well enough. Charas/things/infos popped up, you knew theyre there but you didnt know where they came from x.x
But anyway.. if its the books - I like part 3 the most.
As for the movies.. unsure I'm currently re-watching them and I'll decide when Im done :3 I could imagine it will be part 7 though.

favorite movie: for the longest time it was Prisoner of Azkaban. I just kinda liked everything in it, especially the new characters (lupin, sirius, ect.) And it was probably the funnest of the movies. However, my new favorite movie is Deathly Hallows Part 2 Despite some parts being left out, and mistakes along the way, I think the last movie was done beautifully. I'd say why, but I will make this a spoiler free thread.

favorite book: Deathly Hallows without a doubt. everything was brilliant in it, and it was probably the only book I couldn't put down. It took me 2 days to finish the first time, and the next few times it took me a little less than a day. Every time I read it, it just sucked me in. I only put it down for food and br breaks lol.

My favourite book is the first. I've been rereading all of them (well, listening to the audiobooks, anyway) and this one is the one I've enjoyed the most. I think I like it the best because of nostalgia for my childhood. The books literally grew up with me and got darker and more "mature" if you will, but that one always brings me back to being a kid and reading it for the first time while on vacation.

My favourite movie, when I marathoned all of them with my friends a few weeks ago in preparation for the final one, ended up being Deathly Hallows Part 1. I've seen Part 2 and I loved it, but I'll need to see it a few more times, and probably back-to-back with Part 1 before I can make final judgment. But I'm pretty sure part 2 will be my favourite simply because it's not just camping and emo and more camping. XD;

God this series gets me so emotional. ;_; I'm tearing up just thinking of the idea that I've seen every movie and read every book and I can never say "so far, my favourite is..." Guysss I'm gonna miss having milestones and release dates to look forward to! What if Pottermore doesn't fill the void? ;__;

My favorite book is Order of the Phoenix. I can't really say why, just that it is.

OotP's my favorite movie, too--mostly for the same unexplainable reason that it's my favorite book, but also because it was the first one I saw in theaters, and though I've seen every one since then (with the exception of DH Part 2, which I hope to see soon), being the first makes it kind of special. ...Plus I love that part where Filch is staking out the RoR and they leave just around the corner XD
My favorite book is The Half Blood Prince. I loved how much focus was on Voldemort and everything in his past life. All the parts where Harry and Dumbledore would venture into old memories of Voldemort and his family were amazing.

My favorite movie is The Chamber of Secrets. I don't know what it is, but I just love everything about it. I've seen it so many times I can pretty much quote the movie and if I see it's on I have to stop and watch just a little bit of it!

Since I've seen all the movies now, ─ crying on the inside ─ my favorite would be Order of the Phoenix. I just loved the chemistry between all of the students working together and then near the end where they came together to fight against the Death Eaters as Harry attempted to save Sirus Black thinking Voldermort was going to kill him was one of my favorite moments in the movie. And as much as I hated Umbridge in the movie, she played her character out well and made the movie more enjoyable for me. After seeing Deathly Hallows: Part II on Friday, I'd say it's going to end up tying as my favorite movie with OotP.

Sadly, I never did read all of the books growing up, so I can't say which is my favorite [just yet]. I'm currently reading the Chamber of Secrets though, and am hoping to complete the entire series by the end of the year. I'm looking forward to reading the Order of the Phoenix and seeing if it'll be my favorite book of the series just like the movie was.

Half-Blood Prince for both. I quit reading the series after Goblet of Fire and quit watching the movies after Chamber of Secrets and it wasn't until I was forced to the midnight premiere of Half-Blood Prince that my love for the Harry Potter series re-ignited. I re-read the entire series (excluding Goblet of Fire) and then saw all the movies again. And while they're all enjoyable to me now, HBP will have a special place in my heart because it brought me back to the series :)

Order of the Phoenix and Prisoner of Azkaban are tied as my favorite movies- I blame Buckbeak. Seriously, the hippogriff is awesome! And the Umbridge (really bad with celebrity names) actress was amazing. She wasn't a toad but that made her all the more easy to hate. Prisoner of Azkaban brought a brief little hope spot with Sirius and I really like the idea of the Marauder's Map.

Bookwise I would have to say Order of the Phoenix and Deathly Hallows are also tied. The fifth book was showing Harry struggling with feelings about himself: the want to be acknowledged and the want to be left alone. It was more so than with Goblet of Fire, where things started turning nasty. And the seventh brought the grey morality of the whole story into view. I mean, it could have been maybe a bit less rushed and scrunched together but it did work. I enjoyed seeing that even Dumbledore has humanity and that even Malfoy could be redeemed.

Oh man this is so hard.

For my favourite book, I guess I'd be a tie between Chamber of Secrets, Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows. Man I'm indecisive, aren't I?

As for movies, it'd have to be Order of the Phoenix or either half of Deathly Hallows

I guess the reason it's so hard for me to choose is because the child inside me is struggling with the adult, and we each enjoyed different things about the books and movies! That's the trouble with growing up with a franchise - you look back and remember how much you loved the happy magical elements of the earlier books as a child, but the adult in you prefers the darker, more real things toward the end. That's how it is with me, anyway.

Order of the Phoenix. It's the longest one, tells a lot about the characters' inner feelings, has a different "villian", and ends with an epic fight and a slap in the face for everybody. I loved it.

Hard to remember the books, it seems like so long ago now. From my (very poor) memory, I'm going to say Half-Blood Prince. For me, Order of the Phoenix acted as a sort of bridge between HP being for children, then for teens. Half-Blood Prince was the first that seemed to take a totally different direction from all the rest. The first three I can barely remember; I had a love-hate relationship with Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix; and the final book was good, but I just don't remember it being as consistently good as Half-Blood Prince was.

Choosing a film is even harder... I loved Chamber of Secrets, but if I re-watched it now I bet I probably wouldn't. I'm not a huge fan of the first, third and fourth films. It's a tie breaker between Order of the Phoenix (re-watched recently, liked it better) and the final film.

Agreed with Vendak. I think the series took a turn at The Order of the Phoenix, for the better, and probably because it had to cater to its fans growing up as well as its characters.

That being said I prefer the later books in the series, those being five through seven. I liked the darker tone they all had. My favorite is The Deathly Hallows both in the movie and book section, though the movie is part two. I feel like each book and movie was better than the last.

I do like the older ones, but I think I liked them more as a kid. They really are great movies and books, just not as good as the last ones to me.
