That comes as a suprise to me, I'd never think of AOL actually going out and doing free e-mail. :/

Yay! I'll sign up for AOL free e-mail for spam because that's all you really going to get. :)

Really, I don't need another e-mail account. I have MSN/Hotmail for eBay, Yahoo! for public, GMail for... er, nothing right now and Verizon for personal/private.

gmail is free but don't you have to be recomended for it?
do you think i'll be able to get my old aol username back? because that would be very good.
and, aol doesn't do good things. it's pretty funny, if you have the aim taskbar (i don't anymore, but i used to) it has popup blockers. when you go to aol or to aim.com your popup blocker is disabled.

Yes, they are the worst. A horrible piece of mutilating software with dumbed down everything all in one program. Crappy dial up, and very scandalous policies. I could go on and elaborate, but I don’t know too many of the specifics. Take a look around though, I’m sure you’ll find many educated AOL haters…and that’s not a coincidence.

At least they aren't like my aunt's internet provider... they put an ad on every page! :(

...and guys, GMail invites & stuff is against Sawah's rules.

x_X Talk about GMail invites and stuff through PMs... not here.

To be honest, I think this is too little too late. It doesn't measure up to Yahoo or Hotmail which have been around longer, thus having a much bigger presence in the free e-mail department. Plus, with GMail and everything, I don't really see any sort of appeal AOL might have to the general public. o_O; Pretty much anyone who WOULD use AOL's free service are probably already subscribed to AOL for their internet connection.

Gmail rules all! I dont think that even Yahoo, Hotmail, or AOL will compete with Gmail if they ever come out of the beta stage and give 1 free GB to everybody.
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete

Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
