I was inspired to write this by the recent attacks on our troops in Iraq. Please, don't flame me because of my views. I won't post the views here. Just..I'm sorry if this is controversial..>.>;; Please critique it.

Is it worth it?

Some call me a murderer
others call me a saint.
When I think about what I'm doing out here
my stomach turns over.
I may be fighting for my country,
but does my country fight for me?
Our President dosen't send us equipment
and our tanks have no armor.
To top it all off, when we die,
we simply become "casualties of war".
We're turned into a statistic
and our families are forgotten.
Sure, we might get a fifteen second mention
on your local 6:00 news;
But after that, we are forgotten
by all but our friends and families.
I ask myself every day
whether or not it's worth it
the answer is simple and always the same.
As long as my country's safety is threatened,
I will continue to fight, regardless of facts.

I think your poem captures the feeling of going to war that soldier have, not only in Iraq, but just war in general dating back to World War I and even before that.

It was well written, its sort of a combination between a poem and a solider's diary. Nicely done ^^.

It's very beautiful, And I completely agree with the poem, as my cousin in in Irag right now, and every time she comes home, she says how horrible it is, always wondering if she made the right choice, if what she is doing really good.
Happily paired with Trap-door57!

I love Edward Elric!

Thanks a lot ^.^ I figured that soldiers felt like this a lot so that's why the soldier in the poem said that he/she thought about it a lot ^.^
