Which do you prefer? Do you own both or only one? Do you run a certain OS on laptops while you run different ones of desktops? Explain your reasoning for your choice.

I would choose desktop. I never really go anywhere and desktops are cheaper. We do have a webtop but I don't like it much. Desktops also usually have much larger screens. And I love that.

I own and quite like both and don't really have a preference. My desktop has always been slow but reliable. And I like having a mouse (don't use one with my laptop 'cause I haven't bought one for it yet). My laptop is nice for portability and the speed at which it runs things, but it's quirky and I still haven't quite figured out Windows 7 lol. I still like XP, even though it's hella old.

I only have a laptop and I intend to keep it that way. I use my computer in my room, my mom's room, the living room, I take it to college and in college I bring it everywhere with me in case I'm stuck and need something to do. I don't use my desk at school, and I would hate having to set it up new every year. Laptop is the way to go for a busy college student, lol.

Laptops, please. I only have one desktop in the house and that's the family computer. I prefer my own custom laptop (currently an Acer Aspire 4937 with Win7 on it). My family crave protability so much that my mother has an Asus, my father has another Acer (like mine but newer) and a Acer Aspire netbook, and my younger sister has her MacBook Lite iirc.

Once I got a laptop, I thought I'd never like desktops more but... then I got an HP laptop and learnt to loathe the thing and the desktop I got to replace it is so awesome that I love it to pieces. I have a netbook as well, because sometimes you just need portability, but I've used it less and less since I got my smartphone. I'll only bring it with me somewhere if I know there will be wifi and that I'm going to want to do more than casually browse on my phone. :P

Laptop, I mainly use it in my room, but I also take it to work, and use it in the living room, if there something good on SKY(NZ's cable basically)

I use it for mainly web surfing and game/android development.
I also have a PS3 + HDTV in my room, which I use to game on. With my laptop sitting next to me either listening to podcasts or on gaming forums.

I service computers and i prefer the laptop, just because its easier to get into it and find the problem.. not only that, but you can also hook up a desktop moniter to a laptop and use it as a desktop.. depending on your laptop or desktop.. im using a HP pavilion G6 from the G series.. and i honestly love it.

Ofcourse, desktops have advantages, like a larger memory or better graphics, but a laptop has its advantages too, like its portable. Desktops have a better protection against the weather (what i mean is, where its at and if theres alot of dirt and grime around it). Some laptops are customizable, different colors or a LED keyboard(which is what im workin on getting).

Desktops are usually faster than laptops, but they are more liable to get viruses or other things you dont want, now im not saying a laptop isnt just as vulnerable, but like i said:
because its easier to get into it and find the problem..

So i prefer the laptop over the desktop.

Your Own Room + Headphones + Laptop + Internet(2mb) + Lights off.
Hell yes. I do this when i'm alone in the house and watch(not nroP) and do everything i could.
Laptops are better, they are semi-portable. Carry it everywhere, go hunt a WiFi spot.
Right now, i'm using the laptop i bought from my savings. Got it cheap, but a very good quality. Cheap Bargain, i'm so lucky to have an AMD Turion64/Sempron with ATI Radeon XPRESS 1100. Laptops win.
But i hate to put it on my lap--the net also said it could burn your skin.

Well, other than the fact that I only have a laptop right now... :/
Take it anywhere..... play your games while relaxed on the couch....... Awesomeness!!!
Also for work/school, I have a second screen to connect up to when I fell like it's time to go "Business Like" :)
otherwise I'll do it on the local dining table :D

I use a combination of devices. I have a desktop that serves me as a home server and major workhorse for larger projects, I have a laptop that I use when I travel and for classes that may require me to use a projector with keynotes, an iPad for classes that allow me to get by with an ebook and sparse note-taking, and for everyday use I have a smartphone for times I get bored or need to look things up on the spot.

This is pretty much my exact situation, lol.

I built a desktop at the beginning of the summer and I really love it. If you have no need for portability then desktop is really the way to go. I had a Macbook Pro 2008 which crapped our right at the end of school, which was fine and all, but having a desktop makes much more sense now.

They both have Pros and Cons really, Laptops are portable, Desktops more reliable, I prefere Desktops but I like both My Laptop & Desktop and use both so I'm okay.

Laptops were made to be convenient, and they do just that. While there are some big laptops out there that can rip into programs and games, a laptop isn't made for that, and it's almost impossible to change the inner hardware of them. I still use one though :P

Desktops beat all because they can have shiny neon lights.

But seriously, there is no limit in customization of desktops with processors, graphics cards, internal HDD's and so on. They're perfect for people who do live streaming from gaming consoles or games, the people who want to get serious about PC gaming, graphics designers etc. They're more multimedia based by far.

The only disadvantage is if you invest in a super-desktop, it's gonna definitely stay where you build it.

I own two laptops and a desktop (a netbook, a Mac, and a custom built PC), and I'd have to say it depends on what you want to do. Given as the Mac is three years old, it sees a lot of general use (web surfing, music management, a little bit of production, word processing, etc). The desktop is used for more resource-intensive tasks like gaming or complex production, and the netbook is really only for work.

I'd say laptop for general use, PC for everything else.

Laptops are waaaaay better. They're portable, and they're easy to go around with. The smaller the laptop, the more awesome. But the risk of falls runs pretty high for them.
