The Move Challenge

What's this challenge?

The Move Challenge is fairly simple. After you join, I assign you six random moves. As you play through the game, you must teach each one of your pokemon one of these moves. This can be fun and tedius as I may give you a great move, a generic move, or a useless move.

Rules
  1. Before you enter the Elite Four, all six of your pokemon must have learned the move they must have.
  2. Once your pokemon learns its move, it can NEVER forget the move.
  3. Legendaries are not allowed. Feel free to catch them, however.
  4. The pokemon must learn its move by level-up. For example, you may NOT teach Thunderbolt by TM.
  5. Emulators are allowed.
  6. When using an emulator, screenshots aren't just welcome, they're recommended!
  7. Ultimate Challenges are allowed and recommended for enhanced fun.
  8. No hacking or cheating.
  9. You must have your first pokemon by at least the 2nd gym. After that, your starter gets boxed unless it will learn a move.
  10. How to beat each region:
  • RBY/FRLG: The Elite Four is defeated.
  • GSC/HGSS: Red is defeated.
  • RSE: The Elite Four is Defeated.
  • DPP: The Elite Four is defeated.
  • BW: Champion Alder is defeated.

okay that's fair :) I'll use these pokemon for my team:

1. Uproar - Dodrio
2. Lick - Granbull
3. Psychic - Xatu
4. Morning Sun - Espeon
5. Sweet Scent - Vileplume
6. Guillotine - Kingler

krabby can be obtained the 2nd gym, so I can see it working.
oh wait, a question, does the pokemon with uproar have to be obtained before the 2nd gym? if so then I'll change it to noctowl although I prefer dodrio.

Hey, I'll try this!

Name: Jdthebud
Game: FireRed
Ultimate: maybe

How do you determine the moves, anyway?
I use this Metronome Generator. For 5th Gen, I'll pick 'em myself.
  1. Megahorn
  2. Wing Attack
  3. Rapid Spin
  4. Constrict
  5. Agility
  6. Transform
I'm feeling a bit insane, so I'll give it a shot as an ultimate...

Name: Seren
Game: Blue/Gold/Emerald/Diamond/White
Ultimate?: Yes
  1. Rain Dance
  2. Growth
  3. Whirlwind
  4. Psybeam
  5. Confusion
  6. Guillotine
Could I have a move list please? I'll do my best to do the challenge, although I'm extremely busy at the moment so can't promise anything.

Name: Sammu
Game: Soul Silver
Ultimate? No
No problem. ;]
  1. Flamethrower
  2. Magical Leaf
  3. Light Screen
  4. Astonish
  5. Rock Slide
  6. Ice Beam

Time for my update.

  • So, I started up Emerald
  • Named myself Sire

  • I adjusted my clock to the right time
  • Then I visited May
  • I then saved Professor Birch, picking Treecko

  • Nicknamed Treecko Thasos
  • After killing one and tediously trying to get a decent nature, I finally caught a Ralts with a Naive nature, which I thought was good enough (found 6 Seedots and only 3 Ralts)
  • Nicknamed him Complectus

  • Helped out Wally, then went through Petalburg Forest, beating the Team Aqua member
  • Obtained Cut
  • Beat Roxanne

  • In the process, Thasos evolved into Grovyle

  • Caught a Taillow with a good nature after two tries, nicknamed Hirundo

  • Helped out the Devon guy again, beating the Team Aqua member for the second time

  • Got Steven's letter and the Pokenav
  • Defeated May

Transform? Constrict? Rapid Spin? Really?

anyway, here are my choices:
  1. Megahorn - Nidoking
  2. Wing Attack - Pidgeot/Scyther
  3. Rapid Spin - Blastoise/Starmie
  4. Constrict - Tentacruel
  5. Agility - Pidgeot/Raichu/Hitmonchan
  6. Transform - Ditto (wow. just wow.)

Generators fault, sorry man. xD

I can change Transform to Iron Tail. Transform should probably be ruled out, anyways. I was hoping for diversity and the last thing I want allowed is a move that only one pokemon can learn. ;]

I suppose Rapid Spin could be replaced for Pursuit. Now that I think of it, its effect is useless and the only thing I really see it is for is making sure that you keep your starter.

Constrict, can't do nothing about. Effect works, even it if isn't too good.

Thanks for bringing those moves to my attention. :)

Iron Tail is the same, though, since Onix is the only one in my game that can learn it by level up, so I'll take Pursuit and leave Rapid Spin in there, if you don't mind.

So that means my planned team is now:
  1. Megahorn - Nidoking
  2. Wing Attack - Pidgeot
  3. Rapid Spin - Blastoise
  4. Constrict - Tentacruel
  5. Agility - Jolteon
  6. Pursuit - Tauros

UPDATE

just finished bugsy and got my second gym badge. folkner was pretty easy, but bugsy was a NIGHTMARE with that scyther of his. seriously. u-turn took a chunk of health off krabby each time, and twice I was in a scenario where krabby had half of it's HP left and scyther had a tiny little bit, but scyther used u-turn and got a critical hit. so damn annoying. I got him down in the end though. :D
now that we can move on, krabby's not too far off learning guillotine. I can also obtain oddish now, so that should cover sweet scent.

TEAM

Krabby - Level 20 // Mud Shot, Bubblebeam, Vicegrip, Metal Claw

Flamethrower, Magical Leaf, Light Screen, Astonish, Rock Slide, Ice Beam... WOW. What a list! I really got lucky with those moves.

Two questions though - firstly, what's the rule about moves learned by Heart Scale? Strictly speaking they ARE level-up moves, but I wondered if they were disallowed.

Secondly, is it ok to trade across all of my team at Lv.1 before the 1st Gym?

My team will be picked from the following (all Pokemon I want to raise, which I can trade over right at the start):

Flamethrower – Ninetales
Magical Leaf – Tropius
Light Screen – Starmie
Astonish – Stantler
Rock Slide – Tyranitar
Ice Beam – Glalie
Sapphire - Pearl - Fire Red - Soul Silver - Black
