The Pokemon Type Chart and Type Effectiveness

Types and their in-battle effectiveness against other types is what makes the Pokemon World go 'round. The type chart has been altered from generation to generation, although this only happened once, with Poison now being neutral to Bug and Bug being not very effective against Poison, as well as Ghost being Super Effective on Psychic. That's not to say the type chart is perfect, for example, one could argue that Electric should be Super Effective against Bug, since things like Bug Zappers exist, or that Steel should be super effective against Dragon, since Knights [who wear armor] slay Dragons.

-If you could make any changes to the type chart, what would they be and why?

-Do you think any types are too powerful or weak? If so, which ones and what would you do to change that.

-As a bonus, if you could add a new Pokemon Type, what would it be and what would it be like against other types, both offensively and defensively?

I think it'd be cool if Poison resisted Dragon & was super effective vs Dragon. I mean, it doesn't make much logical sense but neither do a lot of the others (Bug NVE vs Ghost???) but it'd put Poison into relevancy as an actually useful attacking type and also make it an even -better- defensive type. Things like Weezing could tank Outrages and OHKO with a Sludge Bomb in return. It'd seriously derail the abuse of Dragon-types in competitive battling (especially since Magnezone wouldn't be able to trap the only Dragon-type resist anymore!). Plus Poison actually has cool neutral coverage when you use it with other things like Water-type moves and stuff. I think it'd make Poison a lot more relevant and useful and awesome. Poison is generally considered like the worst type overall so yeah, I think it'd be neat. XD

I'd never add another type. The chart is more or less perfect the way it is and I'd rather they don't make such a radical change. :)

I think the Ground being super effective against Rock should be switched to neutrality because rocks do stay on the ground, I pick them off the ground a lot to throw them at people and the rock is never harmed

Powerful: hmmm i really dont know and as for Weak, Psychic types in my opinion get KOed too quickly

I wouldn't add any more types, there are enough

Poison should be super effective against Water. No one wants poisoned water, do they? Wouldn't mind if Grass' weakness to Flying was removed too. It makes Grass weaker. 5 weaknesses really sucks and it makes me personally not wanna use a lot of Grass types. But Petilil is a flawless goddess and I would use it if it were weak to all types tbqh.

That being said, I obviously think Grass is too weak. There are exceptions. We know there are great Grass types (Petilil, Ferrothorn, Petilil, Whimisicott, Petilil) but even still, that's a lot of weak points. Dragon is too strong also, but I can't think of anything that could be done to neutralize it.

I would not add any other types to the mix.

Like people have sayed, make poison types stronger (I miss having it be SE against bug), and dragon types weeker (should be weak to steel i think that makes sense :P)
Bug types should also have more neutral in terms of attack, they cover dark, psychic (that make sense to anyone though?), and grass but have 5 different NVE slots! I say take out fighting and ghost to make it more balanced.

-Do you think any types are too powerful or weak? If so, which ones and what would you do to change that.
Yes bug and grass are too weak other than that I think its pretty well balanced

-As a bonus, if you could add a new Pokemon Type, what would it be and what would it be like against other types, both offensively and defensively?
No what else could they possible think of next? Wood type? It'd be the same as Grass, no I think they should stay away from new types, everything is pretty much covered already. Anything else would be just too similar

Finished the FR/LG monotype a loooooong time ago. Not that anyone cares though.

I will make dragon super effective because a dragonite can just a caterpie.
What? lol

Anyway, I'd make Ice SE against Rock types, and Rock neutral against it. Rock and Ground are very similar, if Ice can be SE against Ground then why can't Rock? ;;

I'd also improve Ice a bit my losing it's Fighting weakness. Ice types are great because they usually have high SpA but are troll'd by their many weaknesses.

Like everyone else said I'd make Poison types have more coverage. I don't think Steel should be immune to it, it also should be SE against Bug types again as well as something like Water? lol

I wouldn't add another type. It would make things even more complicated. Even if y'all want your Light type.
