Why is grass super effective against rock?

You ever see Grass growing in the Sidewalks? There is grass in various locations in the mountains. Special underwater grass grows in rocky surfaces under water. Rock is just more condenses form of ground (dirt/soil) It doesn't hold as much nutrients but they can hold some. Grass roots are strong enough to break through most rocks and rock like items like concrete and Cement.
