Hi, everybody! I'm deoxys121. Welcome to my new challenge, The Painfully Slow Challenge!

How to Play This Challenge:

The concept behind this challenge is to only use Pokemon with a very low base speed. Specifically, you cannot use Pokemon with a base speed higher than 40. This can be somewhat annoying because you will in most cases not be able to move first in the battle. As with most challenges, ultimate runs are not only allowed, they are encouraged. For Pokemon whose evolved forms qualify, but themselves do not, you may use the pre-evolved form until its earliest evolution opportunity. Ex: Once Combee reaches Lv21, don't press B!

Rules:
  • Emulators and the speed button are allowed.
  • Trading/Hacking/Cheating regulations: You may only do this if there are no qualifying Pokemon obtainable before the third gym, you need to hack (if you can't trade)/trade to evolve a Pokemon, or if you want to use a Pokemon with egg moves, meaning you can then trade/hack in ONE egg at the earliest opportunity. Also, the egg must be of a Pokemon obtainable before the Elite Four.
  • You can use a non-qualifying starter until before the third gym. Before said gym, you must capture the first Pokemon you intend to use.
  • HM slaves are allowed, but no battling with them.
  • Note that there are a few starters with 40 or less base speed when unevolved.
  • If you have a Pokemon with 40 or less base speed that has more than 40 base speed when it evolves, you cannot evolve it.
  • You are not allowed to use increased priority moves or moves that primarily increase your speed, primarily decrease your opponent's speed, have a Pokemon hold Quick Claw, or use Carbos or any other speed-enhancing items on your Pokemon. Note that moves that effect speed secondarily (Mud Shot, Rock Tomb, Flame Charge, etc.) are allowed.
  • For Black and White, you cannot add Reshiram or Zekrom to your party after catching them. Therefore, you must have 6 Pokemon on hand at that time, whether you battle with them or not.
The following moves are the ones that are not allowed per terms of the 7th rule. If a Pokemon knows one of these moves when captured, do not use the move in battle, and forget the move ASAP:
  • Speed Enhancers: Acupressure; Agility; Autotomize; Dragon Dance; Quiver Dance; Rock Polish; Shell Smash; Tailwind; Trick Room
  • Increased Priority Moves: Helping Hand; Protect; Magic Coat; Snatch; Detect; Endure; Follow Me; Fake Out; Rage Powder; Wide Guard; Feint; ExtremeSpeed; Aqua Jet; Bide (Gen IV and V); Ice Shard; Mach Punch; Quick Attack; Shadow Sneak; Sucker Punch; Vacuum Wave; Ally Switch
  • Speed Depleters on Opponent: Cotton Spore; Scary Face; String Shot

Your challenge is complete when:
  • Red/Blue/Yellow: Defeat the Elite Four.
  • Gold/Silver/Crystal/HeartGold/SoulSilver: Defeat Red.
  • Ruby/Sapphire: Defeat the Elite Four.
  • Emerald: Defeat Steven
  • FireRed/LeafGreen: Defeat the Elite Four. Second round optional, but recommended for more of a challenge.
  • Diamond/Pearl/Platinum: Defeat the Elite Four. Second round on Platinum optional.
  • Black/White: Defeat the second round of the Elite Four.
Extreme Mode Rules:
  • If you want to have an extra amount of difficulty, you can try an Extreme Mode challenge.
  • For Extreme Mode, all previous rules apply, but the maximum base speed is dropped from 40 to 25.
Qualifying Pokemon for Extreme Mode:

Nincada evolves into both Shedinja and Ninjask, the former of which has a base speed of 40. Would it be alright to train Nincada and evolve it to get Shedinja, then ditch the Ninjask? Still debating on whether or not I want to enter, since I'm kinda not gonna have much time for this, but figured I'd ask.

[...]No trading, hacking, or cheating unless no Pokemon with 40 base speed or lower are available before the third gym. The exception is for evolutions that require such. You may also hack for trade evos if you can't trade.[...][
How about another exception to this: Everstones. Since there are probably quite a few unevolved forms going to be used and failing to press B in time is quite likely to happen, it might be worth allowing to somehow "acquire" them early in the game. By other means than catching 200 Geodudes.

Yeah, that's fine. There are a LOT of Pokemon out there that qualify when unevolved, but don't qualify when evolved. Ex. Cubchoo is eligible, but not Beartic.

KoboraX: You've been added to the list. Good luck.

And for my first update on FireRed:
- Chose Squirtle, beat Gary, did all the boring intro stuff.
- Soloed with Squirtle all the way to Pewter City, very easily beating Brock, then continued until I could reach Mt. Moon.
- At Mt. Moon, I caught a Geodude and a Paras. Thus, I boxed Squirtle for future HM use.
- Grinded them to Lv14, then went back to battle some trainers I skipped on purpose.
- Went through Mt. Moon, fighting all those trainers, stopped at the Mega Punch tutor to teach that to Geodude.
- Got to Cerulean, healed, then beat Gary.
- Beat the trainers on Nugget Bridge, and north thereof, got the S.S. Ticket from Bill.
- Went to the Cerulean Gym. Paras soloed Misty with Bullet Seed and Leech Life.
Team is now:
Spoiler:

Nobody else has posted, so now for a new update on FireRed:
- Went south to Vermilion, fought trainers on the routes around Vermilion, got 10 Pokemon in my Pokedex.
- Did the S.S. Anne, got Cut, which I taught to an HM Slave Oddish.
- Went to the Vermilion Gym, beat the trainers, did the door puzzle.
- Parasect soloed Lt. Surge with Dig.
- Got Flash, taught it to Oddish.
- Went to Cerulean, then east to Rock Tunnel, fighting trainers.
- Went through Rock Tunnel, fought all those trainers, stopped along the way and taught Graveler Rock Slide.
- Healed, then went west, skipped most of the trainers on purpose for future Snorlax training.
- Got to Celadon, then went through the Rocket Hideout quest, got the Silph Scope.
- Went to the tower, beat Gary, then went up to the top, skipped about half the trainers for Snorlax training.
- Saved Mr. Fuji, got the Poke Flute.
- Went to the west of Celadon, caught Snorlax.
- Got Psychic from Saffron to teach Snorlax, bought enough coins to get Shadow Ball, taught those two moves and Shock Wave to Snorlax.
- Used Snorlax to beat all the skipped trainers, then soloed the Celadon Gym with Snorlax. Psychic was useful against Erika.
Team is now:
Spoiler:

I also have Oddish for Cut and Flash slave, and Pidgey for Fly Slave.

I have a slight problem with acquiring my Pokemon. I've chosen; Slowbro, Gloom, Rhydon and Lickitung. But Slowpoke and Oddish are version exclusives... ;-; Could I perhaps hack in Oddish; since I'm playing LG? also could i use Oddish as my starter? ._.

Since there are other qualifying Pokemon available prior, no to the hacking, sorry. I'll set this restriction: catch the first Pokemon you want to use before the third gym. For LeafGreen, perhaps you could try catching a Geodude at Mt. Moon, because Graveler also qualifies (but not Golem). Maybe you could try FireRed instead? Let me know what you wanna do.

- Flew to Saffron, beat the Fighting Dojo, then took care of Team Rocket in Silph Co.
- After that, I healed, then went to the Saffron Gym.
- Once I reached Sabrina, I would have done better if it wasn't for that Reflect. But, I won regardless.

- Went to the Viridian Gym, beat all the gym trainers, then healed, and went to Giovanni.
- Giovanni got soloed by Parasect, who used SolarBeam on his two Rhyhorns (which could have already evolved at their levels :\) and his Dugtrio, and Dig and Aerial Ace on his Nidoking/queen.

Luigi-San, you're on the list!

Here's my next FireRed update:
- Beat Gary on the route to the reception gate.
- Went through the badge check gates, then went through Victory Road, fighting all the trainers.
- Did some grinding to bring my team to Lv60.
- Went through the Elite Four. They were moderately difficult, but not too bad. Lorelei was mostly taken with Thunderbolt, Bruno with Ice Beam and Aerial Ace, Agatha (the easiest) Earthquake and Shadow Ball, and then Lance was Thunderbolt, Rock Slide, and a LOT of Ice Beam.
- Then, the champion, Gary. He was tough, but I won regardless.

Due to major difficulties, I can't finish my first update. It's a story not worth telling. Anyway...the next update is from the end of Driftveil to Victory Road.

Update #2 on White.
  • Started in Driftveil Gym.
  • Owned Clay. I realised Psychic type moves don't do well against Steel types.
  • Owned Bianca.
  • Survived Route 6.
  • Reached Chargestone Cave.
  • Owned N in Chargestone Cave after surviving it.
  • Arrived in Mistralton City.
  • Went to Celestial Tower.
  • Caught Bell Masta the Elgyem in Celestial Tower.
  • Rang the Celestial Tower bell.
  • Owned Skyla in the gym in Mistralton City. Elvis did the entire job without being touched.
  • Beat Cheren near the Twist Mountain entrance.
  • Crossed Twist Mountain in 5 minutes.
  • Arrived in Icirrus City.
  • Owned Brycen. I hate Beartic now.
  • Beat the Team Plasma grunts in Dragonspiral Tower.
  • Went to the Desert Resort to look for the Dark Stone with Alder and Cheren.
  • Arrived in the Relic Castle.
  • Got the Plume Fossil, and owned the Team Plasma grunts in the Relic Castle.
  • Got the Dark Stone from Lenora back in Nacrene City.
  • Got Roshi (From DBZ) the Tirtouga from the Nacrene City museum by having my fossil turned into a pokemon.
  • Quickly went through Route 8.
  • Beat Bianca for the final time at the entrance to the Turbline Bridge.
  • Crossed Turbline Bridge, having a short chat with Gethsis on the way to the exit.
  • Dashed through Route 9.
  • Arrived in Opelucid City.
  • Listened to part of the second speech Gethsis rambled on about.
  • Went to the gym.
  • Survived the gym.
  • Beat Iris after a rough gym. Not so tough after I got Fraxure and Haxorus to sleep with Dream.
  • Got a Master Ball from Juniper.
  • Healed, then headed for Route 10.
  • Awesome music. :D
  • Cheren...PREPARE FOR OWNAGE!

For the E4, I have this thing planned and ready to go, but you'll have to wait to see it.

About time someone else posted! Now then, first update on Sapphire (HUGE like Xbox):
- Chose Mudkip, did all the boring intro stuff.
- Went on the way through to Petalburg City, talked to dad, did the tutorial.
- Went on through to Rustboro City, fighting trainers.
- Caught a Nincada, then a bunch of Zigzagoon strictly for Pickup and HMs. Pickup is extremely helpful.
- Grinded to Lv16, then fought the gym. Mudkip soloed Roxanne.
- Went to Dewford Town, got Flash, went through the cave without using Flash, got an Everstone for Mudkip, delivered the letter.
- Did a little grinding, then beat the gym.
- Went to Slateport, fought the trainers and Team Aqua, blah blah blah.
- When Nincada reached Lv20, I ditched Ninjask for Shedinja.
- Went north fighting trainers. Fought May. She's tough when you just have a Mudkip and Shedinja.
- Went to Mauville, beat Wally, beat the gym. It was the toughest gym yet because Mudkip is weak to Electric and Shedinja (with 1 HP) kept getting confused by Supersonic, then hurting himself.
- Went north and caught a Numel, bought the necessary coins for Flamethrower for Numel, fought available trainers.
- Went north all around through to Meteor Falls, got Dig for Shedinja on the way.
- Stopped and healed when I got back to Rustboro, then went back to Mt. Chimney and beat Team Aqua.
- Went down to Lavaridge Town, healed, then went to the gym. Numel soloed Flannery.
- Beat the trainers in the desert, then went to Petalburg city, beat the gym.
- Got surf, then fought all the trainers on the water and at the abandoned ship.
- Surfed east and fought the trainers on the route to the Weather Institute and Fortree city, including Team Aqua.
- Caught a Kecleon to replace Mudkip, trained him to match the rest of my team at Lv38.
- Beat the gym. It wasn't too tough.
- Went south to Lilycove City, healed, then went to Mt. Pyre and fought the trainers there, got the Blue Orb.
- Fought the remaining trainers to the south.
- Went back to Lilycove, beat May, went to Slateport to find out about Team Aqua, then beat them at their hideout.
- Fought all available trainers on the newly accessible water.
- Now then, the Mossdeep Gym must prepare to get pwn'd!
Team is now:
Spoiler:

Final update on Sapphire:
- Beat the Mossdeep Gym, went to the Seafloor Cavern and took care of Team Aqua.
- Went to Sootopolis, beat Kyogre in the Cave of Origin, then beat the gym.
- Fought all remaining available trainers, including at Meteor Falls (where I also got Iron Tail).
- Went through Victory Road, fought every trainer, then did some grinding and used my 15 Rare Candies (thank you Pickup slaves) to bring my team to Lv63 across the board.
- With the Elite Four, everyone dropped like flies. A lot of their Pokemon couldn't touch Shedinja (some that could didn't use their effective moves for some reason).
- Then, there was Steven. He wasn't too hard, only had to revive once. I hate the fact that he has 4 Full Restores. My battle with Steven can be viewed here.

First update for Platinum:
- Chose Piplup, beat Barry, did all the boring intro stuff.
- Fought trainers on the way to Jubilife City, did what needed to be done, went east, beat Barry.
- Continued east fighting trainers, reached Oreburgh City.
- Went to the mine, fought the trainers there, found Roark, went to the gym and beat him. (all this time cancelling Piplup's evolution)
- Went back to Jubilife, beat Team Galactic, went to Floaroma Town, fighting trainers.
- Beat the Galactic Grunt in front of Valley Windworks.
- Went back to the Meadow, took care of the grunts, then got a female Combee in the Honey tree.
- Boxed Piplup, then caught a Shellos, trained both Shellos and Combee to Lv16.
- Took care of Team Galactic in the Windworks, then healed and went north through Eterna Forest. Combee evolved on the way through.
- Went to the Eterna Gym and took care of Gardenia.
Team is now:
Spoiler:

Hidden Power is Ghost-type with 63 base power. Got lucky there.

I plan to do this one with only these two Pokemon. My slaves are currently Piplup and Geodude.
