I think that Pokemon should either have a "Game+" mode like a lot of other japanese games, or difficulty settings.

1. level cap system - Your pokemon can only level up to level 10. After that, you need to earn a badge from a gym leader to raise your level cap. Traded pokemon can level up beyond your cap, but they wont obey you when they do that.

----------- This would prevent the player from acidently overleveling the boss and make the boss battles easier to design (if you control the player's level, you have total control of the boss's difficulty.) Immagine you have to beat a boss with Lv. 14 pokemon, when your level cap is 10.

1. Gym leader Battles - If the Gym Leader has 3 pokemon, you can only use 3 pokemon against him. Much like Battle Tower, you have to select 3 pokemon before the battle begins.

-------------- This also controls the difficulty. I often switch in a 'lame duck' pokemon to have an extra turn to use items. This option would prevent that, and prevent the player from useing 6 against 3.

Well, this is a good way to make fight against Gym Leader much harder and I like that! Gym Leaders are like boss, right? What's the point fighting bosses if they are too easy to beat?
New Game+ can't work well for Pokemon, seeing the nature of the game.

The only game improvement I'd like to see is customizable trainer characters. I don't want to be stuck with the same trainer sprite as almost everyone else.
Yeah! After 1,000 hours of Diamond/Paltinum it would be nice to put on a new hat or something. It's not like the current games are maxing out the DS's potential. There's so much they could do with this.

Don't try to take away my ability to level up my team so they're 16 levels ahead of the gym leader, lol. Though I wouldn't have a problem with using the same number of Pokemon as the Gym Leader... or have all the leaders use six Pokemon, for that matter.

As for improvements I would like to see, customizable trainers and outfits would a good start. Also, would it be too much to ask to upgrade from the boring old bike to maybe, say, a Segway? Trainers on Segways would be awesome.

And of course, and Pokemon game could be greatly improved with the inclusion of two characters: Leaf from FR/LG and Miror B. from Colo/XD :P

I've been considering that Nintendo and Game Freak need to realise their current way of distrubuting event Pokémon doesn't work nearly as well anymore.

It's not 1996, or 2000 any more. The day that Black and White came out in Japan, maybe even the day before I don't remember when exactly the ROMs came out, we had sprites and information on every single Pokémon in the game, including the as of yet unrevealed event Pokémon Genesect, Meloetta and Keledeo.

They're no secret. Every Pokémon website worth their salt will have details on these Pokémon, and even the special in-game events related to owning them. They all have detailed Bulbapedia articles.

Meanwhile, Nintendo likes to pretend they don't exist in any official media, and they're probably going to be unveiled to tie into a special event like the next movie they churn out as some kind of shocking new discovery - but it's not particularly unreasonable to believe they'll never come out for people who only own Black or White versions, at least not for a very long time.

So to get these guys you've got to wait an unspecified amount of time until an event comes up which (providing you're able to make it to a movie premiere, a particular promotional event or maybe lucky enough to get it distributed over wi-fi) either hands the Pokémon out or gives you access to a small area where they're lying in wait to capture.

I think there's not enough taken advantage of the oppurtunites for sidequests like in other mainstream RPG titles, accomplishing feats or beating challenges that aren't a part of the main game's story to unlock access to a legendary Pokémon in game. Nearly all of the time you either encounter them in the story or gain access to them as a result of beating the game or getting an ability you needed to beat the game in the first place.

I agree. It was the same with Arceus. It was all over the internet, then they were like "OMG A NEW POKEMON SPECIES CALLED ARCEUS OMGZBBQLOLWTF" and I was like, Pssh, that's old news. Now gimme my Azure Flute.
I'm normally against hacking, but I was so frustrated by the lack of any announcements of Keldeo/Genesect/Meloetta events that I used an Action Replay to get them. I would support the idea of more content being in-game as opposed to being dependent on short-lived events that players may be out of town for or otherwise not know about.

Well, there is a gameplay improvement I just thought up recently. Any secondary effect moves like paralyzing effect on some electric moves should have its percentage shown. Maybe it can add more depth to strategy.

Character customization is the only improvement I would really want to see. Everything else is fine imo.

1) Customizable characters, without a doubt. Not sure why this hasn't been done already. Used to think it was because they wanted to market the games more by having the female protagonist of the game travel alongside Ash in the anime, but Best Wishes has proved that theory wrong. They could go about marketing in other ways.

2) Natures for the HP stat. We have every other stat, so why not?

3) Able to equip some kind of accessory on your Pokemon that would be present in all their battles. So like, if you added a ribbon to your Skitty, it'd be seen with the same ribbon during its battles. Trainers should have some of their Pokemon customized, too (not often though or it'd kill the uniqueness, just sometimes they'd send one out with a ribbon or a bandanna or something). It'd make things a lot more unique and you'd remember ingame trainers, who would otherwise be nearly irrelevant, that way.

4) Battle combinations, like combining a jump with a Thunderbolt or something for extra damage/other effects depending on what you're fighting/etc.

5) Trainers you battle actually move around and don't stay in the same spot for their whole life. Would be fun to fight a trainer in the 2nd gym town and then run into that same trainer, with better Pokemon, around the 6th gym town.

6) Your Pokemon have a chance to get sick if you send it out to battle during snow/rainy days. Cures would be buyable in the Mart. If they get sick in the middle of a battle, their stats drop until they're cured.

7) Flying minigame when you fly. You'd see the cities/towns/etc you pass by as you fly to your destination and have to fight off other wild flying Pokemon that may attack you. This could be annoying though, since we usually have stuff to do when we fly from one location to the next.

All I can think of right now! This is just my taste, so it may not appeal to everyone.

One Advance I want to see is a fair battle. I believe its mentioned in your post and I actually aid it. Both trainers must battle with same number of Pokemons, much more like the anime do. You know...3 on 3, 1 on 1, or 6 on 6 full battle in Leagues :/

The main purpose is to add a bit logic but I also want it for a better challenge. Simply, because the Bots you play against don't require a thing but a higher level PkMn, not hard to achieve....

Above all that, I think I might request higher resolution Sprites, especially with the battle sprites, they are extremely pixelated. So if it is possible, even at a system after the DS, I'll be grateful.
