Have you ever been on a vacation, where you left town and visited somewhere else? Is it something you do often if you have? Where did you go? If not, why not? Is there somewhere you'd like to go?
You can answer them in bullet form if you want but it's not necessity.

Also, don't be afraid to tell stories! I want to hear about your awesome times or your not so awesome times, if you have any you're willing to share. :D

---

Anyway, growing up, our family wasn't really too much on vacation, and when we did go it wasn't for very long and usually not anywhere fancy. Our family had plenty of money to survive but we weren't rich by any means. It wasn't a guaranteed yearly thing. A few years, we went up to Wisconsin to visit extended family. I always enjoyed those because I got to see family, and my grandparents would buy me stuff. /shallow
Now that I'm an adult, it's weird. I don't feel like I can afford vacation, but I get vacation time at work. Last year we ended up heading to Wisconsin mid September to attend my great-grandma's 90th birthday and visit family. This year, I've scheduled it the week of my birthday, but I don't think I'll take a proper vacation. I don't have the money.

The best vacation we took was to Hawaii. We were moving away from Japan back to the US, so Hawaii was on the way. Since it was an official move, the Air Force paid airfare; my stepdad manipulated the system where he had us layover in Hawaii a few days, so we didn't have to pay to get there. We didn't stay in some super luxury hotel on the beach, so even then it wasn't too fancy, but I still remember having fun. We did some swimming (and the beach was beautiful), went snorkeling, ate at some tasty restaurants... just a few days of fun, really. Felt bad for my parents because it was so expensive, though. :p

When we lived in Germany, we also had a mini-vacation to Paris. This was a guided tour instead of a free-for-all like in Hawaii. It's a big city, so we didn't see much. I also got homesick after the first day, but the second day we visited the Louvre, which was sooo worth it. We weren't there near long enough. (And yes, we went to the Eiffel Tower, and was too scared to go to the top.)

...sorry for the tl;dr. :( I like babbling.

Ohh yes we vacation every year. Except it isn't that far usually. Last year we went to Canada (I'm pretty sure it was Ontario). And I traveled north to Maryland, south to South Carolina and down farther to Florida where some of my relatives are.

I have been on a lot of vacation before. I usually go to Oklahoma to see my family. I have also been to Kentucky, Florida, Kansas, Arkansas, and Colorado. I enjoyed Kentucky because it is a lot like where a live. I liked Florida because of the beaches. I think Kansas and Arkansas are so boring. I loved Colorado because it is so pretty up there and I love to ski, snowboard, and snowmobile.

I love vacations:D

My father is a tightass frugal man, so we rarely went on holidays when I was growing up. The last holiday we had was in 2006 and that was to nowhere interesting, and before that we went to Canberra (i.e. Australia's Washington... lol) in 2002. On that trip we stayed in a trailer park, and Mum was not happy about that at all lol.

I'd like to go to England, France and America one day, but I'd like to be a bit older so I wouldn't feel pressured to do the usual 'young people' stuff on a vacation, like... getting drunk and stuff.

Usually, I leave home to go to the US once a year for my summer vacation for 2 months. With my family, however, we leave the country to go to new places once in a while (for vacation) and go to places such as Korea (and sometimes the US).

We used to go vacation to our cottage every year for like, 12 years. I don't have something to disclose from this kind of vacation.

The vacation I really enjoyed was the camp that I used to go with my friends. We did it for 3 years and they were the best vacations I have ever done. We did some really crazy stuff back then. Crazy, but hilarious.

So you wanted to hear a story? Here goes one from the camp, then:

So there was a bunch of kids (me being among them) sitting at the track field of the camp and chatting. It was getting dark and the track field was surrounded by pine trees so our line of sight was getting gradually smaller. Anyway, when it got too dark (we almost couldn't see at all) we decided to go back to the main camp.
But being our first time in the camp that year, we took the opposite path and ended up in the woods below. We were lost for 3 hours, until the team leaders found us. The most fearful thing about that is that we were told that bears roam these woods. It was a dark evening indeed, I'll never forget it-also because of that event I made up with a friend that I had a fight with the previous week.

This is my December . . .

I haven't been on vacation holiday for a while now... mainly due to the fact that I haven't renewed my passport (eep!), but I used to go on holiday with family every year. My faves have been to New York when I was 15, and Paris when I was 19. Nothing really happened that would provide the basis for an amazing story, but I just had really nice times in both those locations. I definitely like cities more than anything else for a holiday. Beaches are a definitely no-no.

Back when my family was a nice happy family we could go on a nice vacation every Summer or so. These vacations ranged to going to another state (which back when I live in Colorado the state was none other than the state I live in now: Florida), or for our longer vacations we went to Central or South America. When I was in Third Grade (entering Fourth, I think), my family took a trip down to Ecuador to visit family for well.. basically the whole Summer. My mom enrolled us into school (they had school at that time) so we could learn more Spanish. My Brother quit after like... the second day, my sister never went because she was too young at the time, and I quit after I discovered the wonderful N64 and Kirby and the Crystal Shards. Eventually they took the station away from me and told me that if I were to stay home I couldn't play the game. :P

Oh, and I got pinched by a crab. /why I remember that I don't know, but I did.

The more recent long vacation (and our last one as a whole family) was our trip to Honduras for two weeks. It was fun, except that I got sick while I was there with I think was the stomach flu. Someone I knew also got sick there when he went, so we both assumed that it might have been the water or something. It was terrible, I had to sit in a small room during my Great-Grandmothers 90th birthday party listening to a bunch of people who were watching the World Cup. Happened to have been the Brazil vs Spain (I think) match too. =3= But all in all it was fun.

The last one I think was San Francisco for my Uncles Wedding. That Vacations didn't exactly end well. v_v;

Since then my siblings have gone on vacation to visit my Dad's side of the family, but my Mom hasn't really joined us since we went to San Francisco. The last family Vacation (though excluding my dad) we went to was Colorado. That vacation was quite fun, and I was able to see the old houses we lived in. n_n

I've gone on a few vacations since. My siblings and I went to Phoenix twice since, and we also went on a Cruise with my grandparents for a graduation present. After the cruise I had gone to New York (State) with a friend, and it was well... full of ups and downs. This Summer my siblings and I went to Washington for a weekend to visit my dad, and then we went to Phoenix to visit my Grandparents for a week. That week ended up with us spending more times with our cousins than our grandparents though. ;^^

I just got back from a vacation to Japan. This was the first time I'd gone somewhere considerably far and planned and paid for it all on my own. Well, except for the parts where I was going to a friend's wedding and there was stuff paid for, but that was only a small part.

I stayed in Kyoto for a week and did some sightseeing, a lot of shopping, and a whole lot of walking in awful muggy weather. I'm still a little jetlagged so I can't think of all the things I did, but they included seeing the old imperial palace, a temple dating back to the 13th century, and a super huge castle.

In a lot of ways it was the best trip I've taken because I wasn't feeling held back by anything (for the most part) so I went wherever I felt like, ate what I wanted, bought what I wanted, and just spoiled myself rotten.

For vacation we usually go to South Carolina where we own a place, usually two to three times a year. When we're there, we... pretty much do the same stuff we always do, but at least our house there has air conditioning and isn't in the boondocks and is newer and in much better physical condition than our dilapidated main house.

Ever since I was little we'd always go travel during the summer. Be it another state or another country. Last summer we went to a different state, the year before that to Italy and Greece and the year before that to Canada. I'm hoping to go to China/South Korea/Japan next.

I've only really been on one vacation, as my family usually preferred to do day-trips.
Earlier this year, I actually flew to Calgary (Canada) to see an outdoor hockey game between Calgary and Montreal. The only problem was that it was -24C (-11F), and we were sitting on metal bleachers for the 3 hour game. It wasn't much of a vacation I guess, but I enjoyed everything apart from the freezing cold!
