Right. I asked her a few moments ago....
It supposedly has some kind of sidebar or something in which you get to see the CPU load, clock, and some kind of log, and some other things. I didn't listen correctly to everything lol.
And before you start critizing me, see the word highlighted in bold.:)

Mm, Microsoft don't distribute Pre-Alpha builds to their large Beta Testing network. Generally the registered public beta testers, like myself, will get it through Microsoft at RC1 level, or maybe just before.
Builds that are showing up now are leaking from a smaller group of supposedly 'trusted' testers that are lucky enough to get to try these early builds.
As it stands though, WinFS is crap, the Longhorn Bar is a pathetic joke compared to free alternatives that have been around since Windows 2000, and the new rendering engine is SO slow. But then, given a two years from now release, technology will catch up and maybe make the new engine and the WinFS concept feasable.
Until then, long live XP ^_^
if you were to make a bet on that you'd lose. Longhorn Alpha CDs are avaliable to anyone with an MSDN subscription was went to the 2004 PDC where they were handed out to developers. I'm sure anyone in Microsoft could get their hands on a copy for free.

Some of the new features include:
  • A Hardware Accelerated GUI (e.g. Avalon)
  • New search features (which are not reliant on WinFS)
  • It will feature a hardware abstraction layer meaning you can take your hard drive out of your PC, put it into different PC and then start using it like your PC.
  • New IE and Outlook Express with New Features
  • It will be .NET based
  • It will utilize the WinPE to make installation times 3-4 times faster than Windows XP Installation
  • It should be componentized
  • It will use Vector Graphics rather than the ugly rasterized graphics Windows XP uses
  • It will have intergraded DVD burning
  • It will have a new sound control

Those are some of the features I heard about. You can find out more info at winsupersite.com.
