I find anime to be easy to find, but difficult to actually get around to watching. And when they're airing, they're also difficult to get rid of. It's like hey, new episode, might as well, right.

There are plenty of lists of "good anime" to watch on the internet!

Anime isn't easy to get through when you only have 1 screen.

True. Luckily, my 1080p screen allows me to watch 720p anime while doing other stuff to the side. It eases my boredom somewhat.

Generally it comes down to me waiting for anime to become classics years later and then watching them. This year it was Durarara, I may look into some more. I'll probably rewatch Utena, since that show's got some good inspirational material.

DRRR is a classic now?

Watching Utena is always good, though.

Well, a classic or a few years old. I guess "not recent" or "not too recent" would be more accurate.

I guess it's a few years old and it's still pretty regularly spoken about. Classic or even modern classic though, I don't think so. It's no way near the likes of the Death Note, Code Geass or even the FMA:Brotherhoods of the world.

I wouldn't really call Brotherhood a classic, it's too new methinks. I think that DRRR! could be considered a classic if it were given the time.

Didn't Brotherhood start airing before DRRR? Anyway, age isn't a big part of the equation here. For me a modern classic is a series/book/film that transcends gender, race and generation. It'll be a while before it's truly established as a classic but it's already way past 97% of anime.

As for DRRR, I haven't seen it so I'll just have to trust you.

I've always considered something a classic after a certain time after its release...or completion. (as well as based on its popularity and quality). If a great and popular anime were made a year ago, I'd consider it a great anime, but if it were made, say...five years ago, give or take, I'd call it a classic (depending on the magnitude of the aforementioned factors). That's just me, though. There's generally a consensus on what is a classic but not what makes a classic, ironically enough.

27. I still consider things made five years ago as "new". XD God, time goes by fast.

I don't call things from 5-6 years ago classics per se, but I do get slight nostalgia vibes from things such as Pokemon Diamond or something, idk.

So stuff from 07 can be considered classic, I'm not sure about that. A minimum of a decade with a fanbase that's still growing today sounds a little closer. Even then most of the shows feel a bit new to me. Things like the Ghost in the Shell series and Azumanga Daioh could probably could be classed as classic, Azumanga has seemingly influenced half of the anime since afterall.

Strictly speaking, I wouldn't say a classic has to be old, as much as it has to be able to still work years from now.
Brilliant yet simple enough to not lose meaning after its time, and so on and so forth. Being an "instant classic" is a thing, after all.

But terminology. Bah. When it comes down to it it's pretty unimportant.

Yah, instant/modern classics don't require age, just the attributes I mentioned yesterday. To be respected as a full blown classic they have to prove their longevity, though.

It was 'Japanese Day' in my college today and there was tons of events around campus. One of them was anime was being screened in one of the lecture halls. Watched the first episode of Naruto and I thought it was awesome. Really considering watching Naruto now.
