My current theme actually wasn't a holiday theme when it debuted in November 2009.
Dear don, November is the holidays. Therefore it was a holiday theme.

I don't think Vista was as bad as everyone claims it to be. I used it for a while and had no problems, and I've never met someone who's had more problems with Vista than any other OS. I think it's more what you use it for...if you use computers really hardcore then it might be bad I guess?

I meant I didn't intend it as such. I had a different holiday theme that year. Back then, my username was "Candy Cane Forest Elf.".

And Vista was only bad if you jumped the gun on it and got it before they stabilized things with the Service Packs.

Lately, with videogames able to patch so easily from the internet, it's been happening there too. Rather obnoxious tbh, I'd rather the game be held back until the major bugs are ironed out - for example not being able to get one of the best houses in Skyrim because they didn't account for the fact that the people involved in one of the quests are non-essential, can be killed by dragons, and the quest is required to get the house. Ugh :(

With PC games, this has been going on for at least a decade. It's much a newer phenomenon for console games since console systems didn't have the means for reliable internet access until the current generation.

My personal favorite thing of that era, PnP. Plug and Play, or as it was called back then, Plug and Pray.

I think I've used a version of every 'modern' windows except ME. (95 and up)

Still, 98 never gave me any issues. Even the first edition. Then again, I was a average user back then so I probably never did anything that would cause me to encounter issues.

You know what you do in that situation? Cheat codes are thine friend.

People shouldn't knock Windows '98, at least Roller Coaster Tycoon worked on it! That's more than you can say for the newer ones :(

RollerCoaster Tycoon is my FAVORITE PC game. I remember spending all day playing that game non-stop. I got RCT3 a few months ago and I'm taking the advantage of riding my own coasters. xD So cool.

What on earth are you talking about? Roller Coaster Tycoon has worked fantastically on every version of Windows I've used since Windows 98. In fact, it's installed on both my Windows Vista laptop and my Windows 7 desktop and I've beaten a few of the early parks.

And RCT 3 glitching on Vista? What is this madness? You guys seriously must be doing something wrong while installing the games that causes them to crash or glitch. I have none of your problems and the stuff works amazing on my computers.

I do get some graphical errors at times on Age of Empires, but that's because some driver that's in XP didn't get brought over to Vista or 7. Can't LAN it on Vista or 7, either. Some network protocol is missing from them that's not missing in XP that multiplayer for Age of Empires is apparently dependent on.

Sim City 2000 works fantastically on my machines as well, though my favorite was always Sm City 4 because it's lone expansion gives variety in transportation options. That game works fine as long as I remember to save often, as the game is poorly coded and prone to crashing to the desktop at random.

I never had any trouble with any of my games running on any OS, but I don't play any really graphic-intenseive games either.

I do prefer XP over W7 simply because my Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Adaptor would actually work with XP. Since my old computer died I haven't been able to get on Nintendo's wi-fi at all. Which makes me sad.

XP probably wouldn't be so taxing on my 1GB of RAM, either.

Well, I wonder whether you have considered shelling out a little bit more for an actual wireless router?

I find Windows Vista/7 somehow tolerable with only 1.4 GB of RAM as long as you don't use Aero.

DFUYSGHIYHEKYEGIGE seriously?! WHAT IS YOUR SECRET! Don't mess with me here, man. If there is a chance I could play Roller Coaster Tycoon (the original, mind you, not 2 or 3!) on a modern OS, I need to know it!!!

I looked everywhere online, NOBODY KNOWS HOW TO MAKE IT WORK ON MODERN OS's!!

I just ran the installer and it cooperated. And, testing just now on both of my computers (Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows 7 Professional) it still works. Just remember to save often just in case it happens to be prone to crashing to the desktop.

That said, I've also gotten 2 and 3 to work on these as well.

Some games that predate Windows 95, however, I have yet to get working. And The Movies refuses to install for me on Vista or 7 because apparently it has compatibility issues with newer versions to the point where Windows itself tells me it won't work before I even run the installer, even though I'm pretty sure it would run just fine.

The original game was buggy?

Games pre-Windows 95, and some games after that are 16-bit only and will refuse to run in 64-bit environments. This is caused by the CPU and hence the operating system being unable to run 16-bit code in 64-bit mode. Locked in, huh?

It wasn't buggy at all, but it might be more prone to crashing in a 64-bit environment.

It was a little buggy when I tried it on my 7 laptop. But what bothered me is that I could only play it on a 640x440 window when my resolution was 1280x800. xD

What sucks on my netbook is the 600 vertical resolution... since most games I run have 800 pixels of vertical resolution...

And our uni was very much against running routers using our dorm internet connections... some of my friends got fined for having a router...

Speaking of crashing, did anyone else hear about that military helicopter crash recently? It's all the news is talking about.
Investigation still pending? Yeah, Washington. Two Warriors and four soldiers wasted.
Wonder what it's like to lose relatives like that. It was a training mission on top of everything...

I can give a list of games that won't work on modern os's.

MechWarrior 3
Heavy Gear 2 (Well, it works but you have to use Windows ACT for it to)
Gearhead Garage (Works just barley on XP. With luck and no sound it will run on Vista, no luck for 7 though)
Starcraft Blood War (Well, it works, but most of the before game graphics are all screwed up.)
Megaman X5 (It works, but the game is sped up to about 5-10x time. Impossiable to play)

I get various graphic errors on most other old games as well. And most of the old games refuse to start the first time, have to tell it to start twice for it to work. And yes, I know that most of my list is obscure games that almost no one plays.
