(Not quite sure if this belongs to the anime section but if it does please move it.)
When you think about Unova and kanto they look a bit similar with the events and the starter town and the characters, the anime is also similar by what happens in the begging when ash begins his journey. Anyone fell like that?

Discuss.

I believe in the game that it is basically the same as Kanto except that Kanto had a wee bit more originality in their Pokemon. Although the feel of Unova is very straight forward (Literally on the map), and the variety of Pokemon is better. Although I like the Kanto starters better, they are very similar to the Unova ones although only one evo family is dual typed

There are certain similarities one can draw between the games, although there are some major differences as well. Many will say that there are Pokémon that are similar (Geoude Line and Roggenrola line), but if you think about it, in the real world there are hundreds of different kinds of rocks and other animals too, so why can't the Pokéworld have similar Pokémon. The storyline is also quite different, as B/W are very linear and you are forced to do the gyms in a certain order, however R/B/Y and their remakes certainly have an ambiguous and adventurous storyline.

Yeah this is covered in the anime section here and your question is pretty much the same as this one, asking "is it a beginning or a new start?" The way the question was written allows users to compare Black and White to R/B/Y - many of which have said that it is too similar to the first games to be a brand new start, so take from that what you will. Either way, if you want to discuss B/W's similarity to other games, continue to do so there, and if you just want to discuss the region, try the other thread I linked :)
