I find that out of all the different times of the day you can eat, lunch is always the worst. I never quite know what to eat and most of the time I prefer to skip lunch and just have snacks throughout the day. In fact, there's just something that feels unusual about sitting down to eat lunch - except for Christmas lunch. I'm fine with having sandwiches every other time of the day, but lunch always seems so formal when... idk. I've never really been a fan of lunch, and even at school I preferred to somewhat skip eating it because yeah, sandwiches not fun.

How do you feel about the concept of lunch? Does anyone else think it's somewhat useless like me? Do you think it's really needed if you can eat throughout the day? Do you skip lunch, or have a special lunch every day at a certain time?

Well I'm from a culture where great emphasize is put on four meals; breakfast, lunch, dinner and noontime meal. Lunch has always been important to me. In high school we were served cooked food for free (or rather; taxes pays for it) which in most schools mean the choice between a main dish (potatos, rice, pasta and some form of meat/fish with salad options), vegetarian alternative, soup alternative and (more recently) a halal alternative if pork was in the main dish.

Ofcourse you don't have to eat lunch, the amount of meals/day isn't a decisive factor for your overall health. If you feel that you can go several hours between breakfast and dinner I see no reason forcing yourself a sandwich or anything the like "just because". On days I do not exercise I eat mainly three meals; breakfast, early dinner/late lunch and noontime meal.

I guess what I'm trying to say is; do what works for you.

I rarely eat lunch on weekends and I never eat it at school (well I don't actually eat at school, rather I eat breakfast and when I get home). When I do eat lunch, it's normally something like soup, tuna or cereal (yes cereal). It's pretty useless, when you can just eat whenever.

I tend to feel that breakfast is kinda useless; much moreso than lunch. Having said that, I'm probably only as hungry as I am because of my not having breakfast. Vicious cycle and all that. Normally, I'll go out of the house and buy something for lunch - Subway, some sort of salad, maybe even a McDonalds if I'm feeling filthy - but I'll make something myself for dinner. Sandwiches, unless they're of the Subway variety, never really come into the lunchtime equation for me. I guess it's the bad experience of only having them for school lunches and such. Oh well...

Lunch is only important because I really hate the typical breakfast foods and tend to skip that meal. But most of the time I just end up having leftovers for lunch so it isn't a very exciting meal... just used as something that fills my stomach till dinnertime.

Lunch was better during my college days naturally, when I could actually get a decent meal from the Wendy's on campus.

Lunch sucks tbh. If I'm at school I usually just eat a sandwich, which isn't too exciting. If I'm at home, usually I sleep in late enough that breakfast become lunch anyway so whatevs. Most of the time "lunch" is just a series of small snacks throughout the afternoon.

Generally, I eat 2 meals in a day: breakfast or lunch, and then dinner. If I don't eat something before I go to work, I end up regretting it later. Generally, I'll eat either eggs, Ramen noodles, or a grilled cheese.

I usually have something, but I don't think of anything before dinner as a meal in the traditional sense, I just say I'm going to go eat and that's it. I'm not going to lunch or breakfast or anything, just eating something because I'm hungry, lol.

I typically think dinner is the most important, just because it is usually the only time my family can all gather and have time together. All the other meals are kinda lonely in that manner. xD

And considering, I have been skipping a lot of meals lately, and dinner is usually one I don't skip, breakfast and lunch have become obsolete. xD

I never really eat lunch, mostly because I'm not really hungry at that time of the day, which is very odd, because mostly I don't even have time for breakfast, which is the most important meal of the day, if you're looking for a good health.
Also I don't really know what to eat for lunch, so yeah, I don't see why I should eat lunch :/

I see what you mean. Lunch can be really disappointing actually. I find it's most disappointing when you pack a lunch. I dunno, it's just not as good as if you were to make something at home. When I have lunch at home, I'm totally cool with it. Lunches are never as big as dinners, so maybe that's also why they can be let downs. Lunch for the most part is awesome, but when I pack a frozen dinner and some snacks to take to school or work, it's kind of lame.

I just finished eating a sandwich for lunch.

Breakfast is always annoying because early in the morning I don't feel like eating a lot of things yet so my choices are always limited and sometimes I have a specific thing I want to eat, but don't have any of it around. I never get this with lunch or dinner. Only breakfast. I like lunch, actually. It's like a dinner-before-dinner when my appetite is ready for anything.

I generally eat twice a day at no specific times with no specific menus, so I don't personally follow the concept of routine meals. I find a third meal, ie. luncheon, to be only unnecessary. We are all different in what we eat, and I think we should all be willing to extend that to following our own preferences on when and how often we eat.

These days "lunch" translates to "employee meal" -- a slice of pizza, spaghetti, breadsticks, or salad. Most mid-days, I'm at work. Honestly I don't think of it as lunch specifically, just a small meal. I don't think "it's time for lunch!" but rather "It's time to eat some food!" @[email protected] And on my days off, I don't really think of things as meals, but rather large snacks instead.

When I was in school, I didn't mind lunch, even if I did have the same lunch food all the time. I needed to eat, and sandwiches and chips were tasty enough. It takes awhile for me to get burnt out on certain foods. That's the only reason I still eat at work so much despite working there for two years now.

So the tl;dr version of this is that I do have a meal like lunch, but these days I don't think of it as the word lunch. If that makes any sense at all.

To me, breakfast is the most important. If I don't eat it, I get very hungry and distracted, partially due to my hunger and the other being the groaning my stomach likes to do. Lunch is just kind of there. More like a mid-day snack so I get a quick energy boost. But sure, I still skip it.

I'm hypoglycemic, I can't skip a meal or I get sick. Often, I even have to eat something in the middle of the night to stave off the jitters. Lunch is a sacred time of day strategically positioned between breakfast and dinner for maximum enjoyment, but it probably helps that food is sort of my vice anyway. I have an extremely high tolerance for eating the same thing on a regular basis, and with lunch it's generally a lunchmeat sandwich and some chips. It's the one meal that I can truly savor because I'm always too tired to enjoy breakfast and too preoccupied with other things in the evening to take time with dinner. Just settle on something that you can look forward to everyday and lunch can be great.

Typically, I believe that yes you can survive on one meal per day. Just Survive.

You can do fine on two meals a day, if that's what you feel is best. I don't recommend it, but some of us are indeed this way and don't need that much food. Females who aren't carrying tend to be this way and as far as I know, society and science accepts that their nutritional requirements are not as much as a man's can be. So, I don't judge. There's no room for it.

Generally it's accepted that three meals per day is best. The human body is very easily capable of performing it's best this way. It's what I do, is go for three meal or meal-like snacks per day. Generally it's wiser to eat three meals. If you're worried about weight, then you should probably just eat smaller meals and get moving more.

My lunch is usually rushed as well. College hours are the reason, mostly, but even if I'm free I don't get to eat it properly. I can't cook very good, either, and that makes things even worse.

But man, going back to hometown always means eating lunch properly.
