Whitney = the right kind of hard

Pyrce = Dewgong uses rest all 10 times every playthrough

Clair = 33% to crit and I never get a crit. Her Kingdra Struggled to death.

Whitney's Miltank is just painful, but I don't find too much trouble (I'm always overleveled) as it doesn't have to much fun fighting a Feraligatr.

That Gengar (forgot the gym leader name) made my life very very very very very hard. I can handle the milk tank, but that ghost just killed my pokemon by just looking at them.

In my opinion, Morty. Some people say they powned him easily. But I had a hard time facing his Gengar. Woot. That Gengar packs a punch. Whitney was pretty hard, but she took only 3 mins of my time to beat her.

Whitney may be very annoying, but I voted for Clair just because she wins in terms of brute strength.

It's usually between Whitney and Clair, I find. In GSC, Whitney was VERY difficult to beat because of her Miltank, but in HGSS something about her just seemed so much more managable. Clair on the other hand was harder than ever to beat; in each playthrough of HeartGold I find that I only ever beat her with the skin of my teeth, and I never had anything that could handle Kingdra too well- I the last time I fought her I basically had to wait til it could only use Hyper Beam. :/

Whitney was a struggle for me until I remembered the almighty power of Heracross. Level that thing up 17 and you're rolling through that gym like a piece of cake.

That Miltank was the most challenging pokemon to beat in the entire game for me.
But when I finally took it down, was the best IN YOUR FLYING FLIPPING FACE moment.

I always had trouble with Bugsy's Scyther and Whitney's Miltank. Especially in GSC, that Scyther was awful. I think on my first playthrough of Gold, it took me at least 5 challenges to beat Bugsy just because of Scyther. And everyone knows that Whitney's Miltank doesn't take names. My most recent runthrough of HeartGold was the first time I didn't have to make multiple challenges against Whitney (got lucky with a burn from Quilava).

I had problems with chuck; I was underleveled when I got there :( had to grind oh so long.... whitney as well, every time I think I got her, she uses the stupid recovery move! I took forever with her... and after that I seriously though I won't get the badge cuz she was a sore loser xD

I actually think Whitney is easier in HGSS than in GSC but still remains tough, Clair on the other hand is slightly more difficult so it's really a tie between them.

I guess you aren't counting the second eight??? lol. I was over-leveled till I reached Tabitha in Kanto... And now I am grinding so I can beat her.

Though not as difficult for me as most, I would have to say Whitney was the most difficult to face in terms of relativity. (Miltank was only mildly annoying.) Claire took me the longest and had the highest levels.

Whitney was a pain in Gold/Silver, I didn't find her to be that bad in HG/SS though, so my vote goes to Clair as my in-game teams usually do not have much to cope with Dragons.

I expected Whitney to be really difficult in HGSS because I always had problems against her in GSC but... I whizzed past her. o_O; And I got lucky on pretty much everyone else, too. I think the only person who gave me any problems was Bugsy because my team wasn't well-equipped to deal with bug-types and her stupid Scyther and its U-Turn kept messing me up. >:O

Whitney was the reason I didn't finish a Gen II game way back in the day.

But at this point, it wasn't too bad. I just crippled the Miltank by paralyzing it and getting off as many smokescreens on it as I could. It died eventually.

The only leader that actually gave me trouble (i.e. took more than one try) was Jasmine simply because I did that battle WAY earlier than I should have. If there were actually gym trainers in there, I would have realized...

Claire...Ugh. Without Thunderpunch she is the biggest pain in the neck. Really? As if she didn't have enough waterpower, give her a Gyarados!

I actually struggled with Falkner in HeartGold, because his Pidgeotto had Roost, and choices for Pokemon at that point were highly limited. It was an annoying case of back and forth when I got to him initially.

I expected to struggle with Whitney, but my Kadabra decimated her Miltank with Psybeam, which was just as well; she drove me insane in the original second generation. I didn't really have any troubles with any of the others~

Whitney. WHITNEY. WHITNEY.
No matter if it's in the originals, or in HGSS, her Miltank would own me constantly. Because of that dang Milk Drink or whatever that heals itself, I couldn't even whittle her health down a little at a time. I despise Miltank. >_>

As for me, since I am doing the one pokemon challange, my Typhlosion had no problem defeating Whitney since the only pokemon to train was him.I say Clair, Typhlosion took out Gyarados since he's over leveled at 50,but Kingdra was Super fast so, I equiped a quick Claw him. I used Flame thrower five times to bring it down. The rest was a piece of cake.

Well, I almost always have a Haunter in my party for Whitney so with Curse and Hypnosis she wasnt too bad and I may only lose once and its a short battle but Clare is no cake walk. its a long, drawn out battle with pokemon that have little no no weakness and can psuedo boltbeam at you
but if Post game also counts, Blue's Post game battle is no push over

I have 7 of 8 GYMs beat, take a guess.

As for all this WHITNEY stigma, just use a well trained GEODUDE and he ROLLOUT is crap.
