So you're driving down the road, passing cars and everything as usual... (If you can't drive, you're riding along)... do you or would you do the following:

1) Look at other drivers and their passengers to see who's who (for boredom's sake).
2) Smile at them.
3) Wave at them.
4) Want a wave back.
5)
If you're at a stoplight, do you look at the other drivers? And do you smile if you see a pretty girl/handsome guy? Also, would you wave to see if they waved back?

Discuss. =)

I look at the road because I'm driving and that's what I'm supposed to do and I don't really give a damn about the other people in their car.

1) Nope

4) Nope

When I'm driving, I get slightly anxious when I take my eyes off the road for a split-second, even when at a traffic light or just looking in my blind spot or something. So looking and assessing other drivers isn't really big on my list of priorities for driving. If I'm a passenger, I'm all for looking in other cars, because I'm nosy like that. Waving and smiling on the other hand... no, just no. I can't fathom waving to another driver/passenger in any circumstance. The concept just seems alien to me. Oh well...

Back when I used to just ride in the car (I try not to these days. After driving just riding is boring, aha) I would look out at the window and look into people's cars all the time, especially when there was nothing to look at. However, now when I'm driving, I don't look at anything but the road and anything that I need to look at so I don't end up in an accident.

I don't drive, but I do look and try to do amusing things to the people in the car next to me because it's not like they'll ever see me again so worst case scenario, I look dumb to someone who will never know who I am and who won't remember me a few days later. I'm using them to build up my confidence tbh; it's a good start to be able to have random contact with people I'll never see again so I don't have to fear looking dumb so much.

Sometimes I'll do the first, and should I happen to know the person in the car, I'll wave, too, of course. Usually I'll concentrate on the road, the tacho, music - either I'll have my MP3 player lying in the car and will occassionally attempt to change songs (which I really shouldn't) if I don't and nobody else is in reach, I might sing if I feel like it -, sometimes I'm too busy being mad at other drivers who drive to slow/fast or the automatic gearbox (it really is an idiot), sometimes I'm just lost in thought about random things.
So, me doing what this thread is about is, while it does happen, not a too common occassion.

When I'm not driving myself, I'm usually busy humorously criticizing the driver for about everything, it hasn't ceased being fun yet. Or having a normal conversation, of course.

^ This, except that I don't drive very often. I'd probably get annoyed if I looked at other people and saw that they were talking on their phone or putting on makeup or something that would give me a reason to yell at them for being bad drivers. Not that I yell at people or anything, but if I did I would yell at these kinds of drivers.

I am the most cautious driver I know. I hate taking my eyes off the road, even if it's just for a split second. I hate checking my blind spot to see if it's okay to turn, I hate having to look at the radio to change something, I hate it when someone tells me to look at something at the side of the road. It's probably why I don't answer texts while I'm driving, even if I'm at a red light and why I get really uncomfortable when someone I'm riding with does any of these things (bar the blind spot check). Most of the time, though, I'm jamming to whatever it is I'm listening to. Since I usually always bring a CD with me, I don't have that radio problem, and I never skip tracks when I'm in the car listening to something. I spend a lot of time at red lights dancing madly and singing. I'm sure I get a few envious stares (due to my impeccable dancing skills) from the people in cars around me in the process.

When I'm a passenger, most of the time I'm listening to music on my iPod and staring at drivers to make them uncomfortable. Not to see if I know them or anything like that. Just to make them feel uncomfortable. I'll occasionally act like I'm being kidnapped, pound on the window lightly, and mouth help. Sometimes I'm watching what the driver's doing and slamming my feet down every time I would normally break and get that sense of fear that we're going to crash (I obviously don't trust anyone, especially my father, when driving). Other times I'm just staring out the window depressingly, thinking.

I didn't realise that any of these were a thing people actually did while driving lol. I've been driving for nearly three years now, so while I wouldn't exactly label myself as 'cautious' anymore, but I've never gone out of my way to look at other drivers and smile or wave at them, unless they pull over to let me past when we're passing each other on a narrow road and I give them the 'thank you' nod.

My mom is THE most cautious driver ever. She still waves/smiles at some drivers and pedestrians. Maybe she knows them, I dunno. Boys wave and honk their car horns at me, though. B)

OK I didn't really mean while actively driving and stuff... but we've a lot of straight roads here so it's pretty simple and my car doesn't drift.

New part of the thread: If you're at a stoplight, do you look at the other drivers? And do you smile if you see a pretty girl/handsome guy? Also, would you wave to see if they waved back?

I still don't look. I'm busy either changing the song on my iPod or watching the light for when it changes. Plus I'm usually singing and probably look dumb already. Not gonna look at someone else while I'm singing. lol As for an attractive person...well since I'm not looking, I'll never know if they're attractive, will I? Haha.

1) Look at other drivers and their passengers to see who's who (for boredom's sake).
If I've been on a greyhound bus for more than 4 hours (since it takes me 8 hours to get to my college) I would resort to that sometimes

2) Smile at them.
No, thats creepy and why would I smile if I am on a greyhound bus for 8 hours?

3) Wave at them.
No, that's stupid, but I have seen other people do that before

4) Want a wave back.
I dont want a wave back, that is creepy

5) If you're at a stoplight, do you look at the other drivers?
I do it sometimes because it comes naturally to me

And do you smile if you see a pretty girl/handsome guy?
I probably have in the past but now I don't

Also, would you wave to see if they waved back?
No

Sometimes I'll look at other drivers if I'm a passenger, particularly if they're driving a nice car. I usually don't wave or smile or anything of that sort, though. That would just seem strange, regardless of who it is.

When driving though it's all business. Eyes on the road, even when stopped.

I guess I'll answer my own thread =P When I am driving down the road, I am mostly focused, but when I pass a car I usually glance to see who's driving it. It might be someone I know! LOL Yeah, I know, it's silly. Then they'd get a wave if they see me, but otherwise, I just tell them later I saw them on the road.

At a stoplight I love to look at other drivers and people in the other cars lol... I dunno. Sometimes I smile and wave at them, just gives me something to do LOL When I was single, I used to do this to pretty girls a lot =P

What's a stoplight? One of these things?
Spoiler:

I thought they were called trafficlights in English, but if that's what you mean, I will either just stare at that thing or maybe look at the passengers if there are any. And, again, I will only wave at people I now, not at random ones, no matter how good-looking they are. It would just be pointless and probably irritating for the 'victim'.

None of the above. xD The only time I would stop and wave is when someone I know honks at me for fun. 8) I'm very focused on the road.

If I am driving, the only time I wave is when the other driver gives me space to change lanes or give me an advance. Otherwise I pay attention to the road and not them.

If I'm riding, then I'll observe them. I used to wave when I was a kid, (I got the middle finger once by waving when I was a kid.. yeah. I know! What a jerk! Hahaha) but now I just like to look around.

This.

I notice the cars around me. I don't care about the people unless they're driving stupid. Then I look and see that they're on the phone.
