Hey there fellow pokefans

So I've been playing a lot on wifi and weather teams + frequent smog-on uber pokes were driving me nuts so I thought about making a DUAL weather to mess with the opponents head when choosing his 3 pokes. The idea is that I have pokes for a sun team AND a rain team, and pokes that work well for both, so that way the opponent doesn't know whether to defend against a rain team OR a sun team. So far this one has had a lot of success, prob 70% win ratio, but any finetuning help would be nice. Also note I like different pokes, with non-standard movesets (ie my hurrican dragonite) so even if you have a suggestion of a poke that isn't the strongest but has a cool moveset, I'm still interested to hear. NOTE THIS TEAM IS DESIGNED FOR WIFI

POLITOED /w Water Gem
Drizzle
Modest
Max SpA, SpD
Hydro Pump
Ice Beam
Psychic
HP Grass

TOXICROAK /w Lefties
Dry Skin
Adamant
Max Att, Spd
Sub
Bulk Up
Drain Punch
Sucker Punch

NINETALES /w Focus Sash
Drought
Modest
Max SpA, Spd
Fire Blast
Solarbeam
Dark Pulse
HP Ice

LEAFEON /w Life Orb
Chlorophyll
Adamant
Max Att, some Spd some SpD
SD
Synthesis
Leaf Blade
Return

DONPHAN /w Choice Band
Sand Veil
Adamant
Max Att, SpD
Ice Shard
EQ
Stone Edge
Seed Bomb

DRAGONITE /w Choice Scarf
Multiscale
Adamant
Max Att, SpD
Hurricane
Fire Blast
Thunder
Ice Beam

So to summarize, Ninetales and Leafon are part of my Sun Team, Politoed and Toxicroak are part of my Rain Team, and my SpA Dragonite that no one expects synergizes with both (Thunder, Fire Blast, Hurricane). The Donphans cause so many people use Garchomp, I needed something to better take Fighting and Rock moves, immune to lightning, and just as an extra support vs sand teams

Ho-Oh

used Sacred Fire!

I'm going to assume that this is for competitive to an extent as you're using competitive movesets, wifi, etc (and the fact that it fits in with CBC's rules), so I'll move this to Competitive Battling Center - if you'd rather it be within in-game team help, however, then just let one of the mods know to move it to just in-game team help. :) Either way Black and White is only for discussion of the games, so it doesn't belong here.

Anyway! Giving Dragonite an Adamant ability with all those attacks is a terrible idea, since all of them are special, and you'd honestly be better off breeding another Dragonite than keeping a special one with max attack and a nature that hinders its special attack. As for where Ice Beam is, if you're going special, at least go for a dragon-type attack that specialises in special attack (draco meteor, dragon pulse).

As for Politoed, I think you'd be better off with Choice Specs rather than a water gem which is only a one time boost and doesn't really affect your other attacks, or a Life Orb doing the same but allowing you freedom for less power. And since you don't run perish song/protect etc then you'd definitely benefit from specs, imo.

Focus Sash doesn't really suit Ninetales, since chances are your opponent will set up stealth rock or spikes at some point, making Ninetales lose its edge there. Go for either Life Orb, Air Balloon or Choice Specs to boost your power (or make you last longer with the former).

You might also benefit from Gliscor instead of Donphan; its Acrobatics set can do well outside of sand (acrobatics, sub, SD, EQ), it gives you a free switch in with ground attacks (for Ninetales if you opt for LO/Specs), rock won't really hurt it that much, nor will fighting and can make use of sand veil.

That's about all I can think of right now, other than maybe something like Venusaur instead of Leafeon, but considering how its hidden ability isn't released in English yet, then yeah. :x Good luck anyway!

So rate my team threads go in Competitive Battling Center, eh? Good to know, this was my first thread. Cause yes, this is meant for competitive play.

That was a typo on the dragonite, it actually is modest....i run ice beam for dragons cause normally its 4x effective vs most. But dragon pulse would have better coverage, and is still super effective vs dragons...not sure.

I like the choice specs on ninetales.....im gonna switch that. Id put one on politoed as well, but can only have one of each item.

Anyhow, thx for the advice :)

I think Donphan is best off with Rapid Spin because that way, it can get rid of entry hazards (getting rid of Stealth Rock for Ninetales and Dragonite is great here):

Offensive Rapid Spin:
-Rapid Spin
-Earthquake
-Stealth Rock/Ice Shard
-Head Smash/Stone Edge/Ice Shard
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Def
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy

Defensive:
-Rapid Spin
-Earthquake
-Roar/Odor Sleuth
-Stealth Rock
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy

When you're using Bulk Up on Toxicroak, it could use the HP EVs more than the Speed ones (244 HP/252 Atk/12 Def).

Then use a Choice Scarf on Politoed (4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe).

Ninetales' Dark Pulse doesn't hit anything noteworthy for super effective damage other than Chandelure (who isn't seen much in OU); you can use Will-o-Wisp to cripple physical attackers. With its current set, Ninetales is walled by Heatran, who can absorb a Fire Blast thanks to Flash Fire, so it can use Hidden Power (Ground/Fighting) instead.

Edit: Here's something else to consider that can function in both rain and sun:
Volcarona
-Quiver Dance
-Bug Buzz
-Hurricane
-Fire Blast/Hidden Power (Water)
Nature: Modest/Timid
EVs: 252 SAtk/4 SDef/252 Spe
Item: Life Orb

To PlatinumDude (I'm not sure the best way to reply yet lol other than quick reply)

Do you think I could still OHKO a 4x weak dragon with ice shard if i took off choice band? Assuming max att evs of course.

For Toxicroak do you think its better to put the EVs on HP or Def? Cause if I put them on defense he gets more of a boost from BulkUp. I guess he would get more HP back from Dry Skin and Lefties though if EVs were in HP....

I put a Choice Specs on my Politoed, because I already have a Choice Scarf on my Dragonite. You think I should switch them? I like the Choice Specs with Politoed cause with the STAB and weather boosts the specs boost really adds up

I like WillofWisp and HP Ground/Fighting....what do you think of hypnosis or confuse ray? I never used to use it because of how unreliable it is but Im thinking again because I've played a few Gengars recently that have really disrupted my team with it

Just a note, without Rapid Spin Donphan is utterly outclassed by Mamoswine. Use Rapid Spin though, Ninetales and Dragonite have a lot of problems with Stealth Rock, plus you lack it yourself.

Speaking of outclassed, Leafeon is inferior to Sawsbuck. Sawsbuck has STAB on Return and not to mention Jump Kick and Nature Power (aka Earthquake) so i honestly dont know why you wouldn't use it over Leafeon to be honest.

well, since it is weather team (as im bored to see them everywhere and anytime e.e), i will only criticize the Dragonite.
Please, dont offend, but it is a total fail (no offense again).
first, you got it Adamant, but you are runnng Sp. attack moves anyway? well, that isnt so smart. In case you want to keep that moveset, breed a Modest one.
If i were you, i would run it like this:

Adamant
@Choice scarf
.Multi-Scale
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Waterfall
-Fire Punch

that way, it can sweep as many pokemon as possible for it.

gl finding the perfect combination for your dual team bro ;)

The OP mentioned above that it was a typo, for the record.

@ canadianalbanian - Remember to edit the original post to keep any changes/mistakes updated, so people do have to read through the whole thread and know where you're up to.

Everyone has covered most things pretty well. Heatran is a big problem in the sun - not only because of the Fire/Water modifiers, but because it pretty much walls your Dragonite, outspeeds Donphan and can OHKO it with Fire Blast (if Sturdy is undone by entry hazards, etc)(even if you change to the 252 HP set, which is strongly recommended) and Leafeon has no hope. As D_A mentioned, Sawsbuck can outspeed (sun or otherwise) and hit Heatran with Nature Power (EQ), while outclassing Leafeon completely. And oddly enough, Mamoswine has a higher base speed than Heatran (80 vs 77), so a Jolly Mamo would outspeed and OHKO (hell, Max speed Heatrans are so rare now that you could probably get away with Adamant just fine. Keep in mind Air Balloon is going to be an issue if it comes in unscathed, but if both Sawsbuck and Mamo can hit it, you should be okay. Mamoswine is also immune to Hail and SS, as well. It doesn't take the same physical hits that Donphan can, but if you can find a Thick Fat variant, it will help. Donphan's not taking too many boosted Physical hits, anyway.
