Is the glass half full or half empty? (inb4firstpicingoogle) - Don't get too technical, just answer out of your pure guts.

Do you think of yourself as an optimistic, pessimistic, or "neutral" person?

I consider myself to be pessimistic, because I always think things will turn out for worse, though it does have to do with my "reverse psychology approach" to everything.

It looks like an empty cup stacked on a full cup, tbh. That being sad, I think I fluctuate between pessimism and optimism. When it comes to other people, I'm positive for them, I think they can do whatever they want to do, and I believe in them. As for myself, I am very pessimistic and hard on myself. idk if this will make sense...or go with how I perceive the glass(es) of water.

The glass does not exist, and neither do I.
Yup, that's a glass, alright.
The glass is half-full.

The first two a joke, the third line is my answer. I'm an optimist but the world today is slowly changing that opinion. :(

Smart aleck answer: The cup is twice as large as it needs to be to hold the given amount of liquid. >__>

Actual answer: I tend to be quite optimistic about life. I usually see the good in people, I think things will turn out well, etc. Granted, I have been blessed with a good life with a loving family and such, so I haven't experienced much hardship, so maybe that is why...Hmmm.

For me the image is half empty but also half full
When it comes to life I'm a dark grey (Black-Grey) type of person as I see things often in a neutral but pessimistic leaning view. When it comes to humanity I'm usually pessimistic but occasionally I turn grey at certain times...

Half full.

♫ Always look on the briiiight side of life. De-do, de-do-de-do-de-do! ♫

But seriously, I always look for the positive side of something how to recover from/get out of it. I'm not sure if that's optimistic or escapist, but it's certainly not pessimistic.

Unless of course I'm in an argumentative mood, then I'm the Devil's Advocate. :cer_laugh:

I think it's more than half full. To me, a full glass doesn't go right to the lip. That would be overfilling it.

I'm usually pessimistic about specific things which is why I try not to think about things I know I'll be needlessly pessimistic about. And I don't mean there's a list of things about which I'm pessimistic over and a list of things I'm optimistic about. I mean when you mention something in specific terms I'm usually more pessimistic. In general terms though I'm optimistic.

So, if you were to ask me: "How're ya feeling?" I'd say: "Feeling good."
If you asked me: "How is your health?" I'd say: "Oh, well, now that you mention it..."

some ass drank my water

It's half empty. I'm a severely literal person, which makes me a realist rather than an idealist. I keep my expectations low, because then they're always either met or surpassed, leaving me fulfilled or, at best, pleasantly surprised.

Yes, I lifted that from Calvin and Hobbes. It's a valid philosophy, though. I do tend to look at things a lot more cynically than many people I know, and as such I can be kind of a buzzkill at times.

well to be honest i saw it as half full because i was thirsty and imagined drinking it...

i shift too easily between moods to classify as any one of them... i have turns where im optimistic, pessimistic or neutral! it depends on what it's over as well.

Yes yes wiseasses, technically and mathimatically it's half-full.

But I am a pessimist and though I can be optimistic, it's just not really in my nature. But I think that there are good sides and bad sides to both, they are equally important and it's not like being optimistic is better than being pessimistic. (Also what I'm saying here is not being optimistic, but being real and there's a difference)

I change between pessimistic and optimistic all the time, I tend to worry a lot though.
Half full of course.
1.0 / 2 = .5
0.0 / 2 = 0

Half empty just doesn't work. It's simple math
Also I agree with that.

I don't think I'd ever use emptiness as a metric in determining the volume of a glass of water. Even if the glass were only filled a third of the way up, I'd always say: "it's a third full" rather than "it's two thirds empty". I guess this ties in with me being a realistic optimist: I'd like things to turn out good, but I know that in certain instances that isn't the case.
