Since no one seems to be wanting to post in my gallery, I thought I'd bump it and post some more of what I've done recently.

I love these two! They're my favorites. Beautiful colors and composition.

http://i.imgur.com/vm9Oi.png
I really like the drop shadow on the speech bubble. Subtle but effective.

http://i.imgur.com/zm7i1.png
Shadows and blues are a bit too heavy. Just too dark for me. Pumpkins look a little unnatural in that shade.

http://i.imgur.com/pLJXC.png
Kinda too dull in the color department tbh. Something should pop out and nothing did, for me.

http://i.imgur.com/knQ3Y.png
Strange colors going on here. Maybe too colorful, for me. Looks both warm in the focal and cool in the shadows, which doesn't really work for me.

http://i.imgur.com/aJVZh.png
This is a lovely one. Looks more unified in its colors overall.

http://i.imgur.com/0iJoq.png
At first, I liked it when you showed it to me on msn. Now, I'm like... What are you thinking of, girl? :P Looks like just brushwork and a copy-paste-fillcolor of the render in the background. Needs a little more oomph.

http://i.imgur.com/hL3FI.png
This one also looks a little bit unfinished. The purple soft brushed dot is bugging me. The one right above my word, also! Gasp! D:

http://i.imgur.com/koLfh.png
Great banner overall! One of my top favorites. I love the render placement, the colors, the contract, and the glow in the middle. :)

http://i.imgur.com/RpJhR.png
askjdsdf my favorite :) Looks awesome and I'm glad you removed the clipping mask of his face. XD Great text and great textures.

http://i.imgur.com/8nR0k.png
I love the render and background but again, looks unfinished / too simple for me. You can build up effects around the render with some clipping masks and brushes. I actually like the gray mini render duplicate too. It really balances the tag, which has beautiful colors. ~O~

http://i.imgur.com/10h2y.png
I like the color of the sky! The white and her skin color are also very nice. Just be sure not to have a shading / vignette effect at the top right and top left corners. The sky doesn't have shadows. :(

http://i.imgur.com/L5tuu.png
Goood good strong banner. I love the colors and contrast. I'm not sure about blurring his gloves, though. Your text is too far away from the focal. You could... put it on his jacket/shoulder? I usually skip text. :x I do know you can do better with text (see: Angel, dream and fly)!

Keep up the heavenly work, sis! You're so very creative with your work. :3

Wow Kaori, these are amazing! I'm ashamed I never stopped off here before D: These are my two favourites:
and
They're such good pieces! I especially like your photography due to the style you seem to have of turning every day objects and concepts in to such beautiful pieces. Plus your dog is sooo cute! <3 The icons are absolutely adorable too, I almost feel like stealing them! ;) The tags/banners are also wonderful, do you do requests?? (I think you should! <3)

This one I found very interesting:

I love the effects you've used on it, they're incredibly hot too XD

I'd love to see you expand your work on animal photography in the future, can't wait to see more!

I'll comment on that one, then when I'm on my other computer get that draft posted!

Spoiler:

Your colour corrections and lighting and everything in this manipulation are very good, but it seems you've lost a bit of the quality from the original stock, particularly his face if you look closely. If you've done some brushing on Colour Dodge or Linear Dodge or something like that to bring out the highlights, play with the 'Fill' rather than Opacity to keep it crisp.

As for the background being a little pixellated, you could try Filter>Noise>Reduce Noise and play around with the settings which should make a slight blur effect and get rid of any pixellation. Then you just erase over the focal where it might look weird, but it will help clean up the background.

You've got some smudging or something going on over on the left side, I'm not really feeling it, only because there is so little of it. If you want to incorporate some effects into the manipulation, I'd step it up and make it more obvious, otherwise, it looks a little messy with such a small amount of reasonably subtle effects.

real comments are coming soon <3

So far, the WIP hasn't had much more other than adjustments done to it (from what I can tell), but the adjustments are all very good. Most impressive for me is how you've kept, and even improved the quality of the original stock, particularly the face.

Anyways, this stock isn't the easiest to add heaps of effects and stuff to, so some particle effects and textures will probably be a wise course of action unless you have something else planned already. But like I said, very nice start!

I was hoping you had added that reflection in the eye yourself, but it was in the stock already. :O

Anyways, what you are doing is nice, but I'd like to see a bit more from you. Either in going and doing less sort of photo manipulation, or going all photo manipulation in either some like portrait touch ups (sort of what you are already doing, but more touch ups rather than just lighting / colours) or like rendering heaps of stocks and creating a scene type photo manipulation. What you are doing now can only go so far, those last two options are the obvious next step, and I believe you are easily ready to try either path. You aren't going to go anywhere staying where you are now.

As for the icons, not so much a fan as some of your others, although the last one is very nice. :D

Hope that didn't come off too rough, it's meant to be positive, promise. :)

Not rough at all, I actually agree with you 100% and I need to step up my game. n_n

So here's the last tag I made for 2011, andddddd let's just say I think I've created a total glitter disaster! Perhaps I got too carried away with effects and her face in the background has been a big thing I've tried to fix up but I just don't know what to do. D;

Edit: I tried to crop it to see if that made it any better!

You've really been improving your graphics since the last time I saw them and I think your latest work looks fantastic. The colours are vibrant and the image as a whole is very magical. Good work, Shinell!

Thanks Siggy! I wasn't so sure about it so I cropped it (as seen from the edit) so maybe those who don't like the whole image would prefer it instead.

& Decided to jump in and make my first banner of 2012. :B Honestly I don't know what style I'm getting into but hopefully you guys like it. n_n

Alright, more general notes. First of all, I want to see you resize and image, and position in on a canvas which isn't the same size, or direct scale of the original. That last piece is too big to be a tag, and by cropping the canvas and cutting out parts of the stock
like most of the sky at the top, you'd make it a lot stronger.

Anyway, for the most part, the new piece is good, just the execution let it down primarily. Your original stock wasn't fantastic quality, but when you go for really bright highlights, really dark shadows and a whole lot of contrast, you end up with very low quality areas and it feels clunky. For future reference, I'd ease up on the colour adjustments, or, you go all out, but remember to then touch up using the opacity / fill sliders.
Also, it looks like you got a texture or something on Saturation perhaps, because your colours are kind of random and don't necessarily work together (i.e. purple over the stock, green to the left, pink to the right and blue bottom left). It just feels a little uncontrolled and unpolished.

Nice stuff though, just needs tweaking in the final stages of editing.

Thanks for the criticism Moments I'll definitely try and put what you've said in actionnn.

I haven't been in a graphics mood lately, so all you get is my TotF entry and a little something I made from scratch.

ToTF:
This tags strong suit is the colours, which is generally your strongest aspect, so no surprises there. The tag feels disjointed though. The focal is all the way over on the right, surrounded by pure white, then there are effects on the very left. I know that's how the original stock was set up, but it would've made it a much stronger tag to have more effects around your focal, and with the focal closer to the centre of the canvas.
The borders I'm not really feeling, and the text is ok, but the main thing was just the composition and placement of everything.

take it off
Not too much to say about this one because it is nice and not like a typical sort of style, but what you've got is really good. The only thing I'd tweak would be the text, just to make the "body take" a little less smothered with effects so the typo really stands out. I might've chosen a different font, but what you have definitely works just fine!

KEEP IT UP! >:U

You have really improved since the last time I saw, but that has been forever XD
I am loving most of the icons in the first post, and a lot of the tags. It think you do better with the anime/drawn images, but you are doing well with the real people too.
The glitter one, the second one I really like, the first one, like you said, seemed to be a lot going on.
But keep up the work! you're really doing great :3

Remember the way I was, for me.

Thanks Moments & Unforgettable!! I haven't been making much graphics lately. :(

Took some photos and decided to edit two of them. Original images are pretty large just so you know!!

Spoiler:

Then I went ahead and made some pretty simple banners or w/e from scratch for fun. :P

Also have a photo of my dog! :3c

Really feeling this one! The colour adjustments, positioning of the stock is really quite special actually! The only thing I'm irky with is the text. I do like the typography, the font suits the piece really well, the only problem is that it is intrusive. You have these lush, soft colours with a bold black box over the top. I'd say scrap the text, only because what is underneath is so good, but plain white text down the bottom of the canvas might work nicely.

GJ!

This one is almost a really good piece of typographical art, which is tough to pull off. The only thing I'd critique on this piece is the placement. The main 'haters' text isn't sitting too well where it currently is. Number one, it makes the person read it incorrectly, ("I haters"). If you simply move it underneath the heart, it will actually work really well with the simplicity of the piece. The "i" looks funky, mainly because I feel it should be in capitals, but also because of the italics, it doesn't look like it is in the centre of the box, so it looks messy.

The others are alright, photo of dog is quite a nice photo, but those two are the ones that really excel. I'd say move on from tags for a bit and play with larger canvases, some photo manipulation, simplistic typography pieces etc. Amazing work, this honestly is a breath of fresh air from you. <3

OKAY SO

A bird explosion. :D;

Not really a "graphics piece" just something I put together because I was really bored and I thought I should stick it in this thread because why not???

& THEN THERE'S THIS. Which I think my inspiration was E.T. and I like it but I'm not sure about it as a whole. Stock is from moments.'s thingy

I wish I knew how to make the wings show up more, but they were so light in the original all my edits made them vanish. :( Otherwise, I tried to turn something a bit boring to more interesting.

bird explosion
To the left, there is a straight edge from one of your effects that wasn't erased properly, just clean that up. Otherwise, pretty cool, though the bird is looking rather smothered. Perhaps erase some of the effects over the birds face just so it is a little less messy and you can really see all the detail in the bird. The simplicity of this piece could go really well with some typo as well. Just food for thought.

katy perry e.t
First thing that jumps out is poor quality effects and focal. This is pretty much all due to over contrasting. In other words, the blacks are too black and it has actually caused the effects to lose quality. Tone down the blacks, I'd tone down the colours on her skin as well just a bit, and try and incorporate some more effects, maybe more soft effects around the canvas. Some bokeh would look nice methinks.

faith bird
Really good colours in this one, the only thing that is lacking really is the quality again, and the fact that the wings aren't visible. I know you couldn't get the wings to remain visible with the adjustments, but it looks quite unbalanced without them. as for quality, specifically the tail, which is all blurred and has lost all the details, as well as the chest compared to the head. Where the neck is, the contrast is so high that there is a solid line where the feathers were. Tone down the contrast again, less white this time and even out the tones. Text is alright, I'd move it to the left of the belly, feels all isolated where it is now.
