Being egotistical can be defined as constantly promoting everything you do, through either talking about it or showing everything you do as in "it's really great", etc.

This can be viewed by others as thinking you're better than everyone else, or are in love with yourself - something along those lines! However, is that always the case?

Do you think that those who do this are constantly seeking self-validation and recognition from both themselves and their peers? Does being egotistical really exist in a world where we are just trying to prove ourselves? (And prove we aren't as bad/better than what others may have thought of you).

Discuss and bring up any other relevant points.

I think it's fine when people are proud of what they can make or do. If someone makes a quality drawing then I'm fine with them showing it to other people, and obviously with the intention to show the world what they are capable of and get the recognition they feel they deserve. But I'm not really like, I don't feel like anyone really deserves something, just because they are good at something. I don't really know how I feel about it actually, showcasing is fine but I don't like it when people just want their ego stroked, and you can tell when they for example won't take constructive criticism at all, or anything like that.

No, it doesn't always mean you have an ego the size of Jupiter. But people just have to find a balance so they can still come across as sincere & modest instead of just boasting. There's nothing wrong with being proud of what you do, it's just the way you state your pride that makes the real difference.
