SO.

I'm totally clueless when it comes to Pokémon in general and I was wondering which game I should start off with first. And just to help you guys out, here are some of my opinions when it comes to video games:

--Graphics aren't a big deal to me
--I'm not new to the RPG format
--I completely against AR/GS

I'm thinking of starting from the "beginning" with FireRed or LeafGreen, but I'd rather hear some pros and cons from the veteran players before I make my decision. I appreciate the help! =o

If I were you I'd probably start off with the very first generation, but not FR/LG, I mean the very first, as in, Yellow/Red/Blue. Just start from the bottom and work your way up. Play the 3rd installment games though, like Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum. They're just the same as the former two but have a lot more features. Black and White don't have a 3rd installment yet, so just play them after. :)

(psst, this doesn't belong here...)

Really, any Pokemon game is fine to start out with. I started playing leaf green, which is one of the more simpler Pokemon games, then went to Pokemon Pearl, which just blew my socks off.
Forever walking, through grass, cities, and gyms. Being the one-in-a-million to beat the Champion.

It was well worth the fight.

There's no point in starting with the originals. They're loved so much out of nostalgia, not out of actual quality. If you want to experience all of them, start with FR/LG and work your way up. If not, just start with B/W because they're similar to a reboot of the franchise but have all the up-to-date features. If you don't care about seeing every region or stuff like that, B/W is your best bet.

You don't really have to worry about quality either, although if you're newer it might do you a little better to start off with FrLg, then HGSS, RSE, etc.(if you still want to do them in 'order'). If you find yourself really liking them, then your best bet would still be to at least get copies of the Classics(RBY, GSC) to play through them when you feel like it, as they still are fun.
Don't you think Hoenn deserves to be at least this beautiful?

I'd go with FRLG>HGSS>RSE>DPPt>BW. But if Graphics really don't matter, then I'd definitely go with the original games RBY and GSC. Although me personally I'd go with the remakes, but I am probably just saying that cause I have already played the originals.

I'd go with FRLG>HGSS>RSE>DPPt>BW.
If you follow this order, you'll be fine.

Have fun!

I thought I locked this way back when? If you have more questions about the games suggested, please ask in their respective Q&A thread.
