Name: Royce Holton

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Personality: Royce is an outgoing, straight-shooing type. Enthusiastic and excitable, he is a 'doer' who lives in the world of action. He has the kind of nature where he lives in the here-and-now, focusing on immediate results and sometimes takes big risks to get them. He lives a fast paced life, so his mind is always constantly looking for something to do or some new way to get into trouble (or as he calls it, 'have fun'). Through his trouble making ways, Royce will go pretty far to see his task through, disregarding all rules or laws that stand in the way.

Becuase he is so determined on causing trouble, he mostly rubs people off the wrong way. They think of him as a hooligan who just tries to get attention, and because of that Royce has very few friends apart from his best friend Fedo. To his friend and family he is actually quite loyal. He will stick up for them even in the toughest of times, as shown by his constant search to prove his father innocent.


History: Welcome to the unfortunate life of Royce Holton. He was born in Goldenrod City, where he found himself shoved into a life of poverty. His mother and father were extremely poor. Neither of them had jobs and the family of three had to live in a tiny wooden shack on the outskirts of the city, living like hobos. Royce's father became a petty thief so they could get by. He stole loafs of bread and blankets, only small things that he hoped people wouldn't notice.

Royce was very young and didn't understand how worse off his family was. Since his parents couldn't afford school he was taught a lot by his mother, who would sit him down every day and teach him exciting things about the world around them. The only Pokemon that was ever around was a stray Ditto that would wander in for food every now and then. Royce was the one who gave it small bits of his food and so the Ditto grew quite fond of him, always sticking around and playing with Royce.

Then one day when he was seven, things took a turn for the worse. The family's situation had become so bad that Royce's father could no longer support them with mere petty crimes. So he came up with a plan to rob the Goldenrod Game Corner for money, then run with his family to the other side of Johto. After a while of planning, his father finally attempted the impossible. As he entered the Game Corner, he blocked the door behind him with an iron bar, pulled out a gun and demanded all the money in the building. He almost got away with it too, but things went very wrong very fast. 

Royce was playing with Ditto that day and didn't know why his father was out so late. Suddenly there was a knock on the door, and Royce's mother opened it to the police. Later, after his mother had stopped crying, Royce would hear the story of how his father had been tackled to the ground by a man trying to be a hero in the casino. He would hear how the blow had made Royce's father flail out, accidentally pulling the trigger and shooting a young woman dead. He would hear how Royce's father was going to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Royce didn't want to believe this of course, and desperately tried to find ways his father could be innocent over time. He grew into a young adult and became a petty thief himself, trying to feed himself and his distraught, sickly mother. One day, when Royce was walking down the street snatching handfuls of food from random stalls, he passed a store with TVs advertising 'the chance of a lifetime'. Professor Rowan of the Sinnoh region was giving away four free Pokemon in a few days.

Royce knew this was his chance. If he could somehow get to Sinnoh and get one of these Pokemon, he could travel around the region and win money by battling. He could find some way to save his family from poverty. The next day Royce packed the few items he had collected over time, left a note for his mother and told his best friend and fellow thief Fedo to try and keep his mother from starving. Then he stowed away on a boat to Sinnoh and began his journey.

Appearence: Royce usually wears the same style of clothes every day. His torso is covered by a cotton shirt (usually white, but sometimes he wears different colours), and an orange, long sleeved overcoat. He wears white sneakers on his feet. Perhaps the only bit of clothing with any significance is the grey woolen beanie which he wears that was his father's.
