Zodiac Reborn

Look for the sign-ups in the OOC.

The 12 Zodiacs are the twelve celestial gate keepers of the universe, they all hold immense power in their own way. They are responsible for dictating over all of the cosmos and making sure peace and harmony is spread through out. Eons dragged on as they preformed their duties, and soon one of them grew weary, Scorpio. Using poisons, and an alliance he forged with Taurus, he managed to weaken the ten other zodiacs. The poison forced the Zodiac to remain in their Garuk'Navar(soul gems). Before he could harvest their power for his own ill use, however, Ophiuchus, the protector of the zodiacs mustered his energy and infused the souls of the zodiac into ten human infants. In his weakened state, Scorpio was able to slay him, and from him gleaned the knowledge of where he had sent the rest of the Zodiacs: the mortal word. Scorpio quickly replicated the method and sent him and Taurus into the mortal world so they could locate their prey.

The Now

All the infants that played shelter to with the Zodiacs grew up to live a pretty normal life. They all grew in a way akin to the Zodiac within, that is, the poor fool who ended up slave to Scorpio grew to be malicious and vindictive just the same as he was.

The Zodiac children don't really know who they are, but they all began showing signs of something strange upon their first birthday. Namely, the large tattoo of their Zodiac somewhere on their body, but what isn't so noticeable is the powers. For one, every Zodiac child is faster, stronger, and more acute than the average human. For two, they've each developed their own powers to use.

Scorpio was not busy, he and Taurus began tracking down the other Zodiac immediately. Through various spells and incantations they were able to track down 4 of the other Zodiacs . Without his poison, Scorpio wouldn't stand a change against the other ten Zodiacs. No, he had to pick them off one by one. And so he and Taurus did, but instead of killing them, he convinced them to join, he corrupted the weak human wills and thus the Zodiac that lies within. One by one, Virgo, Gemini, Aquarius, and Capricorn fell to his corruption.

There have also been various abominations wreaking havoc through out the land, their origin shrouded.

Your Role

You were one of the lucky, or maybe not so lucky, individuals who the Zodiac have imprinted upon. You are either just discovering your abilities, or have been found and corrupted and shown by Scorpio

The remaining 6 uncorrupted Zodiacs all are haunted by the same vision, a strange, hazy figure who seemed to be every where all at once and no where at all. Whoever he is, or whatever
it is seems to be pulling on your very essence, and it feels so good. A warm sensation of utter peace sweeps you as you succumb to his whim and are transported through the nether.

As for the corrupted ones, they are all tracked down by cloaked figures and summoned to Scorpio. The news he bears is grim, another Zodiac has awakened. That means that all 6 of the others have awakened and unleashed their powers. The time to go on the offensive is now.

The Rules

 1. General PC rules apply here. No spam, no double-posts etc.
 2. Be active, you know. I actually want this to flourish and not meet it's death before it even gets the chance to live!
 3. No killing other people. We are playing two opposing forces, so there will be skirmishes and the like involved. Just no killing, alright?
 4. Communicate! You should be on pretty friendly terms with the rest of the RPers, enough so that we can actually progress with our RP. Talk with them when their is misunderstanding, or you want to arrange something or whatever. Just for the love of the god, COMMUNICATE.
 5. This roleplay will be DIFFERENT in most others in that you post in BOTH first AND third person POV. You are not required to write a personality for your character, as one already exists. however, every so often you will have to write a post, or(preferably) a piece of post that is in first person and gives us insight into the brain of your character.
 6. This roleplay is rated T+.

[Notes:]
>> I didn't mention it... but Taurus and Scorpio took over bodies of people who weren't infants as to avoid the 18 or so years of delay they would experience. As a result their hold over their host isn't as strong, and occasionally dissolves

Into the Nether

>> Location Unknown

You're having that dream again. The one about the hazy, boundless figure. Only this time, you're awake. You can feel a foreign presence sweep over your body, and your natural instinct is to resist it, but it feels so good! So... so.. good! You succumb to his wills and release your hold over your body, as he starts to pull you through the nether.

When you come to, you're a bit drained an weary. You get to your feet, taking in your surroundings. You don't know where you are, but there are 5 other people in the same room. Just as you are about to go talk to one, a figure garbed in the finest ivory robes steps forth from the shadows and beckons for you to follow him.

After calming your doubts, you and the others do, he leads you down a dank, musty corridor into a chamber ten times bigger than the other, with an altar inset a few inches in the center. He approaches the center and lights the counters that form the border of the altar. Words flow from his mouth in a language you don't recognize. A small orb in the center of the room formed, made of pure energy; it seemed to be drawing on the energy of the air around it. When it had reached it fill, it shined with a blinding intensity and then burned out, the hazy ominous figure from your dreams taking his place.

The voice came from everywhere yet nowhere, like your dreams. "I am Ophuicus, protector of the 12 Zodiac. I'm one of the most powerful beings in all of existence." He paused, allowing everyone to absorb the whole of who he was then he continued. "You are Zodiac Incarnate, the last 6 uncorrupted." He spoke with a certain brevity that made you understand what he said, but ultimately only led to more confusion. "There is I much I need to tell you, and it would take hours. Instead... I'll share my memories with you. Be weary, young ones, as some are privy to insanity after I touch their minds."

Images. Death. Betrayal. Poison! Anger welled in you, a desire to slay the traitor who sent the world into turmoil. The anger, it doesn't feel like yours, and as you soon learn from the memories, it is most likely your Zodiac poking through. You fall to your knees in pain, the images! They wont stop coming! Your brain is throbbing, feeling like it's going to explode, and then it stops. The hazy figure is no more, and you can't find the robed figure.

As you turn to leave, you notice there is no exit. Turning around once more, you see multiple figures garbed in dark robes rush you, armed with bō, long wooden staffs. When it becomes apparent that they aren't messing around, you quickly decide you need to fight back.

>> A fight for your life! Use whatever abilities you have to fend off these attackers or die! The enemy horde seems to be endless.... What can you do but fight? At least you have the 5 other zodiacs... That is, if you can agree to cooperate. You're free to do as you please as long as it involves fighting off your attackers.

Swindler's Den

>> Swindler's Den, Unknown(Scorpio's Hideout)

The Swinder's Den. A swanky little casino, Swindler's Den was always busy. The whir of the machines and the sound of their ringing filled the entire building. On the far side, a pool-stick clink with a cue ball, dice skitter across the table. Over the commotion, barely audible, was the faint screams of some unlucky victim being interrogated by the one of the mobsters who runs the casino.

"**** you!" cursed a man down on his luck as he watched his pay check go down the drain. "Just.. **** you!" he said, incapable of thinking of something better., and slurring even that in his inebriated state. Picking up his glass he finished of his drink in one gulp then stood up, nearly toppling over in his state. As he did, a man in a white suit and white-fedora bumped into his shoulder. "Hey!" the man yelled, swiveling to see the man who had bumped into him. "Who the hell do you think you are?" He stood a good two or three heads over the man, and was definitely a lot bigger. "You pissed me off tonight, and you're gonna regret it." he spat, approaching the man in the suit.

Dante sighed and then busted up in a fit of eccentric laughter. "You? You honestly think that you can kick my ass?" The man threw a punch out of him, and he just simply stepped out of the way. "Come on, you gotta be better than that!" he taunted, making the man only angrier. He threw a flurry of punches, all of the missing and then Dante tossed him to the ground with a kick to the stomach. "Damn, man, no wonder I was with your wife last night." he said, attempting to piss the man off.

The man got back to his feet. "**** you!!!!" he yelled as he dipped his head and ran in full force towards Dante, who merely stiff armed him and dropped him again.

Dante lowered himself to the man and grabbed him by his hair. "**** me? No.. **** you! You don't **** with me!" he yelled in the man's face. "I'm Dante St. Andre, and I run this place!" he said, a devilish smile on his face. "Now... let me make an example to you of what we do with unruly guests.." Dragging the man by the hair across the casino floor, a man in a black suit who held a sawed off shot-gun joined him. The man saw it and began to cry and beg for his life, which for Dante was just more of a kick.

Placing him atop a craps table he looked in his eyes and said, "Sleep tight." With that, he snapped his fingers and burned the man's face off. Yet despite the intensity of the fire, he managed not to let it get out of control, showing his mastery of his powers. Turning to the man in the suit he whispered a few words to the man who nodded and pulled out a cell-phone.

When the call connected he said one thing, "Bring the kids the home." Then hung up the phone, not even waiting for a reply. "Anything else, boss?"

"I'll be in my office. When they get here, bring them to me." Walking towards his office he stopped once to say, "Oh, and Boggs, show this joker the door..." He flicked his head towards the man who was writhing in agony on the table. Then Dante was gone.

Time to Move

>>Location Various

A dark robed figure approaches you. "Dante wantsssssss you....." it slithered to you, a long, purplish tongue darting in an out of it's mouth. He withdrew a simple black cell-phone and handed it to you. "Thisssss.... issss... how the massssster will give you your ordersss" Then the figure slunk off, leaving you to your devices.

Looking at the phone, it had a voice mail. You dial the number and check it. "Greetings loves!" The voice crackles through the cell-phone speaker. "Dante here. Another Zodiac has been awakened, that's all 6 of them. Would anyone able to tell me why I'm not happy about that?" He paused, but he wasn't really looking for an answer. "Be here. And be here soon." Then the phone clicked off and you disposed of it, as you were supposed to. You were already somewhere in the neighborhood, Dante had flown you out there so you could be.
>> Get to the casino, get there and end your post with Boggs leading you to Dante's office. Other than that, you're free to pretty much do whatever you want.

(OOC: @Black Hawk: the OOC thread is in the Roleplay Lounge (I'd post a link but I need 15 posts for that xD). IIRC, however, there's going to be competition to fill up the Aries and Leo spots, so good luck on that!

Also, Alley Cat, I godmodded your character on a nuclear scale. I just thought that you'd want this post up ASAP, so I didn't consult you beforehand, sorry. :$ If you want me to take down parts that had anything to do with bunnying your character, just ask, I'll be glad to oblige.)

Early morning light filtered through the unfamiliar checkered curtains that decorated Aaron's bedside window. Aaron put an arm over his eyes to shield them from the sunlight, and opened them. He was in an alien place; he was miles away from home, and being in a place he wasn't familiar with made him a tad nervous. Aaron's eyes scrutinized his bedside table until they found the alarm clock. 7:30 AM, and Aaron had set it to 8:00 AM. He woke up half an hour too early, then. Not like it matters. He'd probably just sit around doing nothing until he received Dante's orders anyway.

He let his back rest against the wall and reflected on the past couple of weeks. They went by like a blur; he was just on his way home from coaching his team, when suddenly a man who called himself Dante drove a luxurious limo down his street and opened the dark windows, before shooting Aaron a glance that can be broadly described as sly, friendly and secretive at the same time. Dante said that he had something to talk about with Aaron. Aaron was at first hostile, and rightfully so. Dante fit every description of a con man, and even Aaron knew not to randomly trust a con man you just met on the street. So Dante opened the door and stood in front of Aaron, all business-like, and explained what had happened. The world is in danger of being destroyed, and Aaron was one of the people who had the special powers to stop said destruction. Of course, Aaron was mighty obliged to have a helping hand in such a noble cause, so all his hostility was instantly replaced with respect for Dante's nobility and charisma.

Then he had been flown all the way from his hometown to--now that he thought about it, he didn't even know where this is--and for the remainder of the time he had been sitting around like a useless sack of cement. So much for saving the world, he thought to himself often. Aaron jumped off the bed and stripped off his shirt and boxer, and pushed himself into the bathroom. He turned on the shower and set it to the highest possible temperature, and poured generous amounts of soap and shampoo. When he was finally done, he put on his clothes and turned on the TV. He scrolled through the channels and tried to find Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon, even though being 18, he was way too old for that.

No more than 5 channels were scrolled through when a rasping noise was made from the direction of the door. Just when Aaron was about to get it, the door busted open to reveal a dark-robed figure that slithered through the room and made soft hissing sounds.

"Aaah! Man-snake!" Aaron screamed jokingly. Man-snake was a nickname Aaron was fond of; one he used for Dante's henchmen, or, in Aaron's world, the misunderstood protectors of justice who was judged because of their looks and quirky behavior.
The man-snake gave Aaron a look before saying, "Dante wantsssssss you....." it said, in-between its abnormal habit of sticking its purple tongue in and out. He handed Aaron a black cellphone. "Thisssss.... issss... how the massssster will give you your ordersss," it said, before going out of the room and leaving Aaron alone.

Aaron eyed the phone. He wasn't exactly accustomed to modern technology, but even he could figure out that there was a voice mail, just by seeing the large notification box at the center of the screen. Aaron dialed the number and checked it. "Greetings loves!" A voice Aaron knew well crackled through the cell-phone speaker. "Dante here. Another Zodiac has been awakened, that's all 6 of them. Would anyone able to tell me why I'm not happy about that?" He paused, but he wasn't really looking for an answer. "Be here. And be here soon." Then the phone clicked off. Aaron used his ability to make the cell phone come alive. It grew cartoon-like eyes and a pair of bat wings, and flew away out the window and straight up to the sky, where it would meet the atmosphere and dissolve into nothing.

Aaron got off his chair and walked several blocks to the Swindlers' Den, the casino doubling as Dante's base. He opened the entrance and let the smell of beer, chips and cheap perfume surround him. Someone--Boggs, Aaron recognized--poked his shoulder and motioned for Aaron to follow him. He stood behind a casino table and was informed that the others were about to come as well. He was told to stay put, so he did. His eyes followed Boggs as he walked back to the entrance, waiting for the others to come.

When everyone was there, Boggs led them along the unfamiliar way to Dante's office. Aaron, though a tad nervous, was smiling at everyone around him in a goofy way, and was promptly ignored. Somewhat chastened when nobody responded, Aaron just kept his eyes on Boggs as he walked down the alleyways that lead to Dante's office.

Archie waits in his low-rent motel room as the morning light finally replaces the glow of red neon. He sits on the edge of his bed, staring idly at the deck of cards in front of him. He holds his left hand foreward, keeping the deck floating, while manipulating cards with his right hand, playing a game of Solitaire.

He had been here for a few days, awaiting Dante's orders. Why he had been sent to this awful place was a mystery. Perhaps it was a joke, a comment on Archie's low pay grade or clean lifestyle. This particular room was spotless, since Archie cleaned it out of boredom hours after arriving. "Why hasn't he contacted me yet? If he needed me, the logical thing to do would have been to bring me to his casino, not this no-tell house of filth. But," he sighs, "Since when does he apply logic? I'm supposed to be the smart guy."

There is a soft knock at the door, and Archie unlocks it with a wave of his hand. A dark-robed figure slinks in, approaching the bed. "About time." "Dante wantsssssss you....." "Obviously. You don't make social calls." He hands a simple black phone to Archie. "Thisssss.... issss... how the massssster will give you your ordersss." Archie gestures to the bedside table, neatly putting the deck together and on top of it. With another gesture, he floats the phone to his hand, after which the Minion leaves.

Archie silently checks the message, listening to Dante's voice. "Greetings loves! Dante here. Another Zodiac has been awakened, that's all 6 of them. Would anyone able to tell me why I'm not happy about that?" A pause. "Be here. And be here soon." Archie moves the phone away from his head, then punches his fist forward with an effort of will. A wave of force slams into the phone, shattering it to pieces. He effortlessly catches the pieces, depositing them in the trash can.

He checks out of the hotel room, the lady behind the counter grumpily taking back the key. "Thank you for staying, Mr. Spock." Archie leaves without a word, the psuedonym just more proof that Dante was having fun at his expense. He makes his way across town to the Swindler's Den. He pauses before opening the door, taking a deep breath of fresh air and letting it out slowly. He opens the door, the smells iside washing over him like a flood. He smells stale food and flat drinks, the smell of food that was never meant to be nutritious or filling. He can smell sweat, and even blood, the smell of despair and shattered dreams, or pain and shattered bones. A thick haze of smoke, both from tobacco and other plants, and some from burns wounds. The whole place reeks of all that is wrong with the world, and every inch of it offends Archie's senses.

He hurries toward the back, where he knows Dante's office to be. The guard by the door stiffens, ready to react, then relaxes as Boggs falls into step with Archie. "What's the rush, McGregor?" "You know I don't like being here, Boggs. Just take me to Dante's office." "Trust me, Arch. You'd rather be out here. Have a seat, wait for the others." He claps his hand on Archie's shoulder, leading him to a table. Archie winces at the physical contact, but knows better than to say anything, silently allowing himself to be herded the others.

He takes a seat on the edge, keeping his face emotionless. He pointedly ignores the others, attempting to ignore everything in this horrid building. The cards and chips on the table twitch and jump, and he organizes them to occupy his mind while he waits, the objects moving themselves as he moves his hands under the table.

When Boggs returns to lead them all to Dante's office, Archie silently follows, bringing up the rear.
