Pokémon Reborn: Synchronize [PG-15] (SU/OOC)

The Legendary Pokémon are missing.

The realization of this sent the scientific community into a panic. Everyone who knew of them understood that they essentially held the world together – the personification of time and space, holding together the fabric of the world; the elements given form to provide power for all; humanity's own qualities sealed within safety - and their removal or capture could spell disaster. Search teams of highly trained personnel were sent to look for any sign of them, to no avail. Nobody could understand why they were disappearing – was it the beginning of the end? To prevent widespread panic, they kept quiet about the issue and urged those who realized they were gone to stay mum about the subject. There had to be something they could do, or else something horrific may happen.

…But nothing has happened yet.

The fact that the world is still in one piece has given scientific authorities hope that they're still out there. But there is no way to tell where they are – it's just as if they vanished. Trained search teams had tried and failed, so what is there to do? During a lengthy discussion of the problem amongst tension and heated arguments, Professor Elm of Newbark Town stood up and proposed something rather preposterous. Apparently, he had a young assistant who displayed an amazing affinity for Pokémon, even those who she just met. He noticed she was able to find hidden Pokémon around his property with no prior clues, he'd just ask her to get a certain Pokémon and she'd make a beeline for it regardless of where it was. A few other Johto scientists stood up and claimed they knew children who displayed very similar traits. It seemed, coincidentally, that none of them had undertaken a journey despite their talent and age – all were fifteen years old. Reluctantly, the other regions decided to give these kids a chance. They were getting desperate. They would issue the children Pokémon and send them out into the Johto region to search for the Legends.

What the Johto scientists didn't tell them is that the children's abilities far exceeded exceptional Pokémon-finding skills and overall friendliness. No, what they had discovered were children they called "Synchronizers", or Syncs. The Syncs displayed two particular powers unheard of for normal people. The first power was an almost telepathic link with Pokémon, where the Syncs could see through Pokémon's eyes and command them non-verbally. This left their body vulnerable, however. The second was the ability to take on traits of a single Pokémon at a time into their human bodies, such as a small amount of elemental power and physical strength or speed or so on.

A letter was sent out to all the Syncs, claiming simply that they were chosen to undertake an important journey without divulging too many details. They were to start out like normal trainers, travelling the region in trios, being given a starting Pokémon at random and being permitted to take on the Gym challenge or Contests if they so wished. However, they have to keep their mission in mind and search for any Legends they might sense.

RULES:
- Ordinary rules, of course. No godmodding, Mary Sues, etc.
- However, slight bunnying is allowed. This is because you will be partnered with someone and it may be necessary to do this to move along. Just give them ample room to move.
- While this may be half a journey RP, the main focus will be in cities. So you may cross a route in a single post.
- Pokémon catching is the same as in most RPs – post your battle, throw the Pokéball, and I'll decide if you caught it or not.
- Don't overuse your powers. They're not a toy. Usage of powers leaves you exhausted and/or vulnerable, save for the Scanning ability (The one which allows you to locate a Pokémon)
- When you're close to a Legendary, I'll PM you. Don't find any without my consent, because it's a bit plot-important.
- This RP is rated PG-15. Blood and violence are permitted, and romance as well - just keep it above the belt, hm? There are kids here.

SIGN UP:
Name: Make it believable, of course.
Age: Did you read the plot?
Gender: Hmmm.
Appearance: 4+ lines with picture assistance, or 6+ lines with none. However, I will be picky if you use a picture. There is a certain personal rule I have, but I won't tell you because I want to see if anyone will break it unwittingly (if you do, I'll put you on pending and tell you it =P)
Personality: 5+ lines. Have fun, but they are ordinary kids.
History: Decently long, no real line requirement. They haven't really done anything with their lives, keep that in mind (also, just a note, the girl Elm talks about is my character, so don't use that.)

I'll have my SU up eventually. For now, have fun!

It's 1:31 here, so it's far too late for me to make a full SU at this time. Reserve me for now. My Junior Reserch Paper is hindering me from RPing for now, so I'll hopefully get my SU fully done by this weekend.

Reserve me por favor.

Name: Naomi Genava
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Appearance: Naomi is a very short girl for her age, only standing at 4 feet and 5 inches. Her skin is quite pale and her eyes are pale shade of blue, more like baby blue. Naomi's hair just barely reaches past her shoulders, black and a mix between wavy and straight. It's straight when wet...and slowly turns wavy. Her eyelashes are very long, and she tends to put on make up due to her insecurity about her looks and appearance. Her style of dressing is rather strange.

She wears her white headphones everywhere, hearing music. Naomi tends to cover herself up, wearing a white hoodie with her initials NG on the back. She tends to cover her head with her hood, the hoodie's sleeves are very long, able to cover her hands unless she pulls them up. She wears black skinny jeans, her shoes big and white with a rather big tongue. If she's indoors, she takes her hoodie off and reveals her white "U" cut under shirt with black edges.
Spoiler:

Personality: Naomi is a very shy girl, very reserved and quiet. Despite her want to talk to others and share her voice, she's just too shy. She's afraid of even entering a crowd. She has common sense though, and quite intelligent herself. Her worst subjects are in English and Geography...especially Reading. However, she's an ace in Math, Science, and even gymnastics. Running isn't her thing, but flexibility is. Her voice is hard to hear to, since she doesn't like to raise her voice and her shy habits. Despite her shy nature, she's very independent and has a bad habit of judging. Never revealing her negative thoughts, she always says the opposite of what she's thinking...but only if what she's thinking isn't considered nice. Her reflexes are slow however, and she's very slow in everything. You may call her name, and five seconds later, she reacts.

Music is her life basically. Pokemon are adorable to her, no matter how they look like. She's not much into pokemon contests, since they don't show their true potential there, but not much for battles either...although they interest her. She's very tomboyish in thought, thinking of video games, sports, and such. That's why she prefers to hang around boys more, even though she looks too feminine. Relationships to her matter deeply, and she is very picky when it comes to friends. She doesn't choose them actually....to her, they come to HER. Yes. They come to her. Naomi is hard to open up, since it takes a lot of patience until she's not shy around you. Once you do get her out of her shell however, she's the sweetest girl around. She's afraid of the ocean, but loves to fly.

History: Naomi was born in the city of Sootopolis as a twin. Her other twin outshone her in everything. Her twin, Nai, was better looking, talented, could sing, was number one at her school, could do sports, is on the volleyball team, can play tennis, everything she did was outstanding. It shadows Naomi, eventually the very reason why she's so shy and negative. Her first years were fine, but it was until she hit 9 that everything changed. Her father and mother divorced, and her mother took Nai with her. Naomi was left with her father. Learning to live with him, she grew rather attached to him and grew a grudge against her mother. She could care less about Nai now, since her father now could only direct his attention to her.

Her pokemon years, which started at 12, were fun. She was introduced to her father's pokemon, and they were absolutely adorable. She learned to take care of one, train one, breed, battle, and their behaviors. She was mostly interested in Hoenn pokemon, Kanto and Sinnoh pokemon very bland. Unova pokemon were interesting too...but Johto was normal. Eventually, she realized she wanted to study pokemon as it is....and loved legendaries...except from Sinnoh or Kanto or Johto.

Name: Rena Russels

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Appearance: Rena is a fairly tall girl, standing at the height of five feet ten. She is slim in stature, with few excess fat or muscles to speak of. She has a round face with a pointed chin, a fairly small but nonetheless sharp nose, and thin lips. Her eyes are a sea blue in color, and they seem to emanate a feeling of friendliness. Rena has long, waist-length pointy hair with parted bangs, with an unusual color--scarlet--especially considering both of her parents and all her siblings are brunettes. She is pale in complexion, even though she's used to the sun and hardly ever gets sunburn.

As for clothing, Rena has a very odd fashion sense in that near everything she wears are either in white or black (or a combination of both). Her usual outfit consists of a tight white minidress with black collars, covered by a black (I'll be honest, I don't know what it's called). She likes to wear black ribbons on both sides of her head, which adds a bubbly feel to her look, fitting her personality. A pair of armbands often decorates the area between her elbows and her hand. For footwear, she prefers practical shoes she's comfortable in, which happens to be a pair of black combat boots paired with white leggings. She also dons a simple necklace with a white yin-yang shaped pendant.

Spoiler:

Personality:
Rena is a very bubbly and happy-go-lucky individual. She hasn't got a care in the world for anything, and often acts without thinking about the consequences. She's the type of person who learns by doing instead of reading or listening, so it's not rare for one to find her discarding, say, a rulebook of sorts. She is honest and brash, oblivious to the negative feelings of people around her and never really caring what others think about her. If she doesn't like any rules she encounters, she usually makes new ones, those that suit her morals. Rena also has a soft spot for cute things; she has a tendency to pinch every puffy object she meets.

Rena looks down on people who lie, and prefers to keep her relationships with those around her simple and honest. She doesn't like it when someone keeps a secret from her, and will attempt to pry into said secret, which earned her lots of "none of your business"es and "leave me alone"s. Rena is a great friend in certain situations, however; her natural optimism and charisma always spurs her friends to never give up and do better on whatever they're pursuing. In battle, she uses a lot of improvisations, never really thinking a step ahead. However, due to her unorthodox playstyle, her movements are unpredictable, netting her the element of surprise.

History: Rena was born the middle child of seven kids, living in a remote corner of Ecruteak City. Her family was bound by old traditions, and Rena, from a young age, was expected to act like a proper lady; polite, charming, and most importantly, skilled in the arts of battle. However, she was a free spirit that denied these rituals, saying that the only person who can carve Rena Russels is Rena Russels, not some long-dead ancestor who's probably nothing more than a skeleton now. Her family respected her decision and let her do whatever she wanted to, and Rena wanted nothing more.

Come her seventh birthday, Rena started displaying her synchronizing abilities, able to communicate to Pokemon and understand them better than even their own trainers. Before long, word got to the local vetenirarian, Dr. Mallows, and she asked Rena to help out in her clinic due to her unique ability. Dr. Mallows was a kind, passionate person who contributed to advancing medical knowledge and technologies, and she was a close friend of the local Pokemon Professor, due to their similar lines of work. This was how the professor knew about Rena's synchronizing powers.

When the letter came to Rena's family's mailbox, Rena was first skeptical about going. She never laid a foot outside of Ecruteak, and she would surely miss her family. However, being told by the Professor about how important the journey she's about to make is, and some additional encouragement from Dr. Mallows, Rena obliged. Besides, she had her sights set on Morty's Gym Badge for a while now, and what better way is there to train to face him than to go on her very own adventure?

Finished!

Name: Dale "Ark" Arkuna
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Appearance: (see attachment for pic.) Ark is an average sized kid, standing at five foot six. He is sturdy, but not necessarily strong. His face is strait with a somewhat square chin, rounded nose, and a worrying mouth. In a lot of was he is "average" and "medium" in comparison to classmates. His suspicious and observant eyes are the thing that most stands out about him. While the left one is a vibrant orange, his right is a calming violet color. This gives him an odd look and also strangely resembles his personality. His skin is slightly tan because of the coastal sun in Olivine. His hair is a light blonde color. It is fairly long and jaggedy because he cuts it himself and only when he wants. It somewhat obscures his face in spiky bangs.

It has been pointed out that he really doesn't care what he wears. His fashion makes him stand out and it usually consists of a few colors. One of his common outfits Includes articles of a deep blues, oranges, and grays. His short sleeve shirt is mostly blue with an orange bottom and collar. His pants are gray with the bottom half of the right being orange. We wears hi-tech thick bracelets which are powerful conductors. The bag to his side is now full with berries and items. He has blue-and-orange sneakers which are somewhat new. His overall appearance gives the feel that he wears a uniform.

Personality: Ark is a fairly serious and kind person. He likes to get things done and not goof off, but he never denies a good joke. He is pretty cautious about dangerous situation, and usually chooses the safer way around. He has a bad habit of making comments after every sentence. He is a good student, excelling in most topics, although he dislikes gym. You could call him a goody two shoes or teachers pet. He stays in line. He usually is discrete about comments, he tries to be on neutral ground in intense arguments. He cares about his public image, and keeps comments that would land him in an awkward position to himself. He usually gives the truth except when lies are required. His likes are random assortment of jumbled things.

Far the most part he is usually calm. He takes things facing into them, plans them, and does them. However, he can get stressed if he doesn't know something. Not knowing drives him mad. Often he will not let something go until he understands it inside and out, as well as backwards, upside-down, and three-dimensionally. He also can get quite exited and exilarated. This Ark usually blossoms in moments where he must think on the spot. This is usually battling. On the few occasions, the calm, mellow, sweet Ark becomes slap-happy, anxious, and the good kind of insane. His styles are usually not as strategic as he commonly is, but still have a reason behind them. He tends to discard most stat-raising moves. He often studies pokemon before battling.

History: Ark was born in Goldenrod, Johto. He was the second of two children, his older sister being six years older. His family was very kind and flexible, often going out of their way for something. His father was a beginning professor, having studied in Kanto. His mother had worked for a bar in Goldenrod. Ark had only spent a few years in the big city before his family moved all the way to Solaceon in Sinnoh. He spent a year in Solaceon before moving to Hearthrome. After almost two years in Sinnoh the family moved back to Johto. This time settling in Olivine. His mom began working for a café where she made what was rumored to be the best teas in the city. They had stayed and the siblings attended a small school nearby. Life was good for the Arkuna's.

His father first noticed his synchronizing abilities when Ark was eight. He had begun sitting near "dangerous" pokemon, looking into their eyes and them looking back, not saying a word. This intruiged the small professor, and soon Ark was running some pokemon errands for his father. He was oblivious to his ability. Why were kids shocked when he told them how their pokemon were feeling? Couldn't they hear their mind-speaking? He was just finding and listening to pokemon on a small level for his father, but his father took great interest. He even got to use his pokemon sometimes. Often though he would spend time after the lights were out listening if something was outside. He really liked meeting electric types. They had the coolest things to say.

When the letter came he was shocked by its contents. He was confused about what it said about his abilities until his had explained it to him. It all fit together. He felt nervous, but with a few nudges he accepted. His father gave him two bracelets which he told Ark were conductors for electric type problems. His mother gave him a small bag of the plants she used for her drinks. Promising to visit, the first step out of his familiar house felt so different. Where should he begin? Turning, he could just see the top of the Oliving Gym. Hmmm.

Rafael p: Denied.

Your sections are rather under par (4/6+ and 5+ are minimums, more is better). Even history, which I said had no requirements, is still very bare-bones and rather Gary-Stu generic (death of parents, unless done right, cause rolled eyes amongst the experienced in writing). Your personality is contradictory - he is a very sweet/romantic boy, but he is also mean - those traits can coexist but the way you wrote it just doesn't work. Additionally, there is some padding in the personality section which does not particularly add to the character - were the entire section long enough it would be fine, but I don't need to know what his favorite Pokemon is. Your grammar at times is awkward and your writing is very beige (that is, list-like and doesn't particularly descirbe anything).

I don't particularly want to discriminate but your sign-up and writing are not what I'm looking for. Sorry. I appreciate the time you took to apply, though.

Name: Ian Pull

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Appearance: Ian is your average next-door type of guy, tall and lanky. Standing at a height of 5'11", Ian is not the type of guy that emits a menacing aura, even if he towers above other people. This guy's deep set violet eyes accentuate his wide forehead. Well, that would be the case, if not for his hair. His coffee-colored hair reaches up to his neck, and partially covers his brows. He prefers long hair over short hair because, according to him, "It suits me better." His skin is china-white, not pale, and certainly not sparkling. His long legs are the result of his daily jogging around the pre-modern town of Blackthorn, followed by the constant training he do with the local Pokemon. However, his hands were small and deft. If one does not know Ian, he or she could tell that those hands are perfect for a thief. This is his main tool in his Assistant Professorship, saying that "You could not handle small amounts of sample using enormous hands."

It is well known among the people living in Blackthorn that Ian is very picky of his wardrobe. He is too vain for a male, but who cares? Even though he is not lavish in spending for other things, he could not resist himself buying clothes. He prefers signature clothes. His wardrobe consists of long sleeves, mostly green, and some tees. He prefers wearing the long sleeves, coupled with blue or black jeans, and a rubber shoes. Around his neck, he always wear a necklace whose origin is unknown.

He is known to carry a moss-green skateboard all the time.

*This drawing is not made by me. I only found it using Google images. This is the closest picture of Ian, and I tweaked some of his details to match this picture*

Spoiler:

Personality: Ian Pull is a pretty independent guy for a fifteen year old. Being the personal plant specialist assistant of Professor Ivy on Blackthorn City, Ian learned to live on his own. He rarely depends on someone older than him and, if he does, that does mean that he cannot do it himself already. He is also egotistical in nature, because of his specialty even at a young age. You could think of Ian as the "closet narcissist," one who loves himself so much, but is afraid to admit it. He thinks this make him as a higher being than other teens his age, even though he never had gone on a single journey. In fact, Ian is very much home stuck and never stepped foot outside Blackthorn City, and it's surrounding towns, which is few and near between.

However, when Ian puts his mind on something, he becomes really motivated. When put on a task, Ian would not surrender until he finishes it, or until he surrenders and tells himself that finishing the task is out of his abilities. He is more of a doer than a dreamer. But always a learner.

Because of his age, Ian's movement is still pretty limited. However, he is also a prankster at heart. He is known to cause mischief when he was young. He likes playing pranks on Professor Ivy and her visitors. When Ian grew up, and without Ivy to guide him, he became more mischievous. Almost all Blackthorn residents know of him, so he decided to leave the city and go to the bars at an adjacent town, where nobody knew him. He passed off as a legal teen, and inside, one could see Ian flirting with the girls. He loved the girls as he love his self.

History: Ian Pull is Professor Ivy's nephew, first and only son of her sister. Ian's mother and father were living apart. He never had a chance to know his father, except that he died from an unknown disease when he was still young. His mother, not caring at the very least for his child, left the Johto region, leaving Ian with Professor Ivy at the age of five. She never returned for Ian. Ivy took the child under her care, and raised it like her own child. Soon, at the age of seven, Ian showed utter interest with plants and herbs. This is where Ivy decided to focus Ian on. Ivy decided that she will raise Ian to be a Professor, and not just some generic trainer. She decided to expose Ian to various Grass-type Pokémon. Apparently, she observed that Ian could communicate well with the Pokémon she brought with her, even if those Pokémon were still untamed. This intrigued the professor so much, she made a study about it but could go no further than what she observed. The presence of Syncs was not yet known at that time.

By the age of fourteen, Ian learned all he has to learn from Ivy. She promoted the young child as her assistant, and left Valencia Laboratory to him, as she went for Valencia Island, on the Orange Archipelago. Ian then was living on Blackthorn with the older community. He continued on researching about the Grass Pokémon, using his ability as Sync in learning more of them.

However, when a letter arrived, explaining who he really is, Ian was not shocked. He knew he was something special, the way Ivy had taken care of him. He knew he is not an ordinary teen. He read the letter once more, making sure he got all the details right. He had not a single Pokémon under his belt, but does it even matter? A chance to meet the Legendary Pokémon. Ian knew he was destined for something bigger. He packed his thing and proceeded to Newbark Town, and meet up with this Professor Elm, a professor who had apparently amassed more reputation than his mentor, Ivy.
