It was an average, pleasant day they all met. The sky was clear, there was a slight breeze, and the air was warm but not stifling. Newbark Town was just waking up, commuters beginning to travel to work and children walking to school. Pokémon cries echoed every now and then, from the birds in the sky to the insects in the trees. It was just an ordinary day.

Elm stood outside his lab, sweating a bit more than someone should at that time. He fidgeted nervously, envious of his young apprentice's just generally excited demeanour. True, she didn't quite know what was going on today, but she stood proudly next to him and surveyed the other children. He followed her lead. They were quite the bunch, four boys and four girls (excluding his student), shying away or making awkward conversation. They varied in everything, he could see – hair, height, personality… how interesting. But there was one common factor uniting them, unseen to the human eye.

Elm cleared his throat loudly, and all attention turned to him. Ah, great. He was never that good at public speaking. Why couldn't they have gone to Kanto or Sinnoh or something? Well, he still had to explain. "Hello, everyone. I'm Professor Elm, as you may know. We've gathered you here today to set you out on your own Pokémon journey. I know, this is strange – usually we only give younger children the chance to go out in this manner. Well, as the letter we sent tells you, we have a somewhat ulterior motive."

He saw a few kids flicking their letters out of their pockets and glancing at them, or trying to remember exactly what it said. He stood up taller. "You see, we have discovered you children have unique talents when it comes to handling Pokémon. We've recorded some of you being able to locate Pokémon as if on instinct, and some have claimed they've talked to Pokémon. This is a very useful power for what we're doing right now. Um, you see… you've all heard of Pokémon that are recorded only in legend?" He received a few nods, and a few blank looks. "Well, they really do exist, and they're terribly important for the health of the world." He hesitated, trying to think of a way to say the next part, to which he followed the obvious route. "Right now, they are missing. And we have no idea where they are. We've searched all over, but we have found no traces. But then we realised there were children like you, so skilled! But the problem is, um, well, you've never gone on a journey and you have no Pokémon yourselves, so having you look for them would be tricky."

He nodded to his assistant, who with a grin pulled up a suitcase. She fiddled with the latches and it opened up to reveal nine shiny new Pokéballs, one for each teen. "So we're giving you the opportunity to travel, officially, on a journey. This means you can undertake the Gym or Contest or even Pokéthlon challenges if you so wish!" He paused, and adjusted his glasses. "But we do need you to search for the Legendary Pokémon. We're very worried about them." He nodded to his assistant once more, who placed the suitcase down delicately and lifted up a few objects. It was all rather reminiscent of an airplane safety demonstration. "What we'll provide you with are Bands." The girl flourished a metallic, yet flexible-looking ring. "These are like tracking devices, so this doesn't happen again. Once you see a Legendary Pokémon, I'd like you to get this on them somehow. They are very powerful, and very intelligent, so I don't think attacking them is a good idea. If you can ask them politely, that would be best. But you may have to end up fighting anyway. Try your best." Without a cue, the girl swapped the Band for a large-screened watch. "This is a Pokétch X. Simply put, this is a Pokétch with Xtranceiver capabilities. They haven't been released to the public yet, so you're the first to try them! I want you all to stay in contact." The girl placed it down and held up some very familiar items. "And of course, the usual – Pokéballs, Potions, and a few more."

Elm glanced at the group again, some kids excited, and some somewhat bored. He swallowed, but grinned. "So, please line up in front of Amber and you'll receive everything!"

---

Amber had heard the speech before. Several times, actually. Elm had been practicing and practicing. Poor guy had a bit of stage fright – he much preferred just pottering away in his lab to giving lectures, but he'd been appointed the Regional Professor so there wasn't much he could do. Nevertheless, she was excited. All the other teens looked interesting – there was an absolutely tiny girl and another girl towering above her. Some of the boys looked like they'd shot through puberty and some were still in the midst. She couldn't wait to meet them all, even if she'd only be travelling with two others.

When she was told to hand out the Pokémon, she lifted the suitcase up once again. She'd been told who to give what, aided by stickers on the balls and photos Elm had given her (where he'd gotten them, she had no clue). To each she held out their Pokéball, a random PokétchX (they spanned all sorts of colors), and a bag filled with beginner's essential items. A few mumbled thanks met her ears, and occasionally nothing at all. Finally, the procession moved to a halt and she picked up her own items, clicking the deep purple PokétchX around her wrist. Her Pokéball was cool and weighty in her hands – she had no clue what was inside it, but man was she anxious to find out.

Elm stood forward again. "Okay, everyone, now that you have everything, I've sorted you into groups. I'd like you to stick together, as this will likely make the process smoother than you all being individual or as a large group. The following is group one: Helena Kenshaw, Ian Pull, and Dale Arkuna. Group two is Jason Moral, Amber Caulfield, and Naomi Genava. Group three is Evily Aquana, Rena Russels, and Joshua… erm…" He stuttered over the lack of a last name for the oddly-dressed boy, "…Joshua. So get to know each other, and you can go off!" He turned away awkwardly, without realizing that perhaps these kids didn't know each other's' names.

But Amber did, courtesy of rehearsals, and practically leaped forward towards the tiny girl with headphones, who was chatting softly to her new Pokemon (a Treecko) and giving a slightly nervous look at the rest of the teens. She poked the other girl on the shoulder, smiling warmly towards her. "You're Naomi, right? I'm Amber, so I guess we're gonna be travelling together, huh?" She gave a quick glance to the rest, who were beginning to converse. She noticed the spiky hair of the other teen she was to travel with. "You too! Over here, Jason!"

Clear skies in the early morning... New Bark Town looked like a nice place to live. It was Joshua's first time being here. His first time seeing Elm, too; kind of lanky, though he wasn't paying attention to the teenage tower just a few feet to his side. He looked nervous, too, but at least he was trying. The professor started talking about why he wanted them here. To Josh's knowledge, the letter was pretty vague. Elm got into some strange powers that they all had, both of which the teen had felt close to home, so he got a little more interested.

Elm wanted the group here to find the missing legendary Pokémon, then he had to clarify their inexperience. "But the problem is, um, well, you've never gone on a journey and you have no Pokémon yourselves, so having you look for them would be tricky." He had his assistant introduce the Bands and the Pokétch-X to the group, then they pulled out some more obvious items; Pokéballs and some restorative items, probably enough for the entire group.

Then the assistant started handing out the items and another Pokéball to everyone. Josh himself got a snow-white Pokétch-X, and fitted it to his right wrist after putting the Bands and most of the other items in the backpack he brought at his parents' insistence. Shortly into that, he started to play with his new watch. It had his two other group buddies on speed dial for the transceiver; convenient, since now he didn't have to ask their names. Hm, group locations on the Marking Map, too. Some really useful functions, then... Coin Flip. Okay, I'm done playing for now, he thought. A little more fiddling and he was back to the main screen.

"Well, let's check out what you got," he told his new Pokéball, tossing it into the air and letting it open with a light-blue flash. A little confused about it, he asked the green, flower-budding thing that appeared in front of him, "And what are you supposed to be?"

"Bulb!"

Naomi Geneva

People were around her, and it got her nervous. Sure, she wasn't the first one here, and it was calming at first. Eventually, there was more than 9 people here, and it freaked her out. The Professor and his assistant spoke out and showed the usual, but she already knew all of that, so she payed more attention to the people around her. There was red-headed girl who wore a huge bow, who didn't look so bad. On blonde kid had beautiful, observant eyes. What was so beautiful about them was the fact they were two different colors: vibrant orange and calming violet. There was a taller guy who's brown, more like coffee, colored hair covered his violet eyes. Violet. She loved the color.

Before she could take a good look at the others around her, she noticed one blonde boy with white tips that stood out reach out when the Professor and girl had finished. Due to shyness, she slowly moved ahead, her pose showing there was fear in her. Her father would always remind her of how cute she looked when walking as if she was scared....but her friends would either adore it or point it out. The assistant simply handed her a pokeball, which was quite random. She got herself a Poketch the color of violet. She wanted black, but violet was more etched into her mind at the moment. Putting it on her right wrist, she turned around and noticed some staring at her or just standing there. The one that caught most of her attention was one boy with spiky, auburn hair. Shaking her head to get her attention off of him, she moved a few feet away from the group and opened her pokeball, a dazzling red light materializing into what would become her first pokemon. A Treecko.

"A Treecko? How cute," she sweetly remarked, suddenly hugging the thing. Gasping for air, she let go and watched it as she coughs and catches air. "Do you mind if...well...I could name you?" she wondered out loud, the green pokemon looking up at her with interest. "Okay then...umm...what about Rain?" she hinted out. Treecko nodded, mesmerized by her glowing blue eyes that stand out. Naomi could only chuckle in response, standing up as she holds Treecko in her arms. She stands over to where the rest were, the boy beside her being the spiky haired one. As much as she wanted to talk to the spiky haired or any other guy, she was just too nervous and shy. Instead, she backed a bit and looked at the others. She was lucky she looked...well, dazzling and brilliant with her wavy black hair and blue eyes, but she just couldn't bring herself to talk. Her eyes flickered towards a Bulbasaur that was just sent out. He doesn't seem to know what the pokemon was, so she felt a bit amused at how little he knew. All of a sudden, she nearly jumped from fright at the introduction of the Professor's assistant.

"You're Naomi, right? I'm Amber, so I guess we're gonna be travelling together, huh?" She gave a quick glance to the rest, who were beginning to converse. She noticed the spiky hair of the other teen she was to travel with. "You too! Over here, Jason!"

"Umm...yes," Naomi spoke back quietly, looking back at the spiky haired guy. She wasn't really paying much attention, but from what she heard, they were traveling in groups. If so, then Amber and Spik-or Jason were going to be her partners. Hyper girl and mysterious guy. Not so bad.

New Bark Town. A quaint little town at the southeastern end of Johto, and the next town over from the Pokemon League. It was quite a cheery atmosphere this town has, unlike the one Rena is accustomed to in Ecruteak. Its residents were quite normal and insignificant in personalities, but they seemed nice enough, at least from what Rena have seen. There were some oddballs among said residents, though, like the professor nervously chattering in front of Rena right now.

He had been yammering about how she was among the nine special children--"Syncs", he called them--and that they were about to undertake a big journey. The letter said as much, Rena thought, what's new? Never did she expect that the answer would be searching for the Legendary Pokemon! As an Ecruteak resident, of course she knows a vast amount of Pokemon Mythology, especially after the legend of the Burned Tower was--pardon the bad pun here--burnt into her mind.

After his little speech was done, the professor asked his assistant--Amber, he called her--to give out the items needed for their journey to start off on the right foot. She handed out some things to Rena. Before Amber moved on to the next Sync, Rena put on her cheeriest face and thanked her briefly. She looked at the things Amber just gave her. There were six PokeBalls, one apparently occupied by her new Pokemon. Next came the gadget Professor Elm called the Poketch X; these came in all sorts of colors, but hers was a shiny black--quite well-camouflaged against the black armbands she always dons. And then some medicinal items that Rena couldn't tell apart. Oh, well. She'll figure it out later.

Now to meet her Pokemon. "Now how am I supposed to open this thing?" Rena wondered as she fiddled with the PokeBall which is supposedly the container of her new Pokemon. She tried to open the casing, and apparently it worked--unfortunately, the PokeBall was facing her head, and after the blinding red beam that came out of the PokeBall subsided, an Oshawott appeared out of nowhere, its paws clinging onto both of Rena's cheeks. "Osha?" it said, looking at Rena bewilderedly. Rena laughed and picked the little thing off her face.

"Well, aren't you just adorable! And what's your name?"
Rena asked it.

"Oshawott," it said, still looking at Rena, confused.

"You can call me Rena," Rena said. She hugged the Oshawott tightly. It's no secret that Rena has a thing for cuteness.

Professor Elm spoke again. Group three is Evily Aquana, Rena Russels, and Joshua… erm…" Here he paused, because the boy apparently had no last name. "…Joshua. So get to know each other, and you can go off!"

"Alright now Oshawott, lets go meet our teammates!"
Rena looked around and recognized Joshua, the oddly-dressed boy. He was busy fiddling with his Poketch X, so Rena decided to leave him alone for now. She went the other way and met her other teammate, Evily Aquana.

"Hey there! How're you doing?" Rena asked the girl brightly.

The day was nice. The sun shone bright and warmed the group as soft winds cooled them. The air held a pleasant feel and the residents, though few, were quite kind. However, it lacked the business of the city that Ark had grown so accustomed and attached to. Nevertheless, it seemed like a fine town. It was mid-morning now, and most residents were still inside, although the few out greeted the group kindly. He took everyone in the group into account. They all were quite different in everything. One was even wearing a outfit MADE of pokemon. Many of them stared at Ark, probably because of his eyes. This annoyed him, but he stayed composed on the outside, making some brief conversations.

Soon after Ark had arrived, the professor, Elm, came out from the building with his assistant. After a brief hello, he went to business telling them the details that were left out of the letter. At the mention of them he pulled his out of his pocket a bit. They were special children... pokemon communication abilities... missing legendaries?! This was definitely not in the letter. Some of the kids took this lightly, but Ark was shocked. After he explained it, Ark was a tad calmer. OK, so they had a better chance at finding them than the best trainers. Good. After this, the professor explained some metalic rings, the Pokétch X, and the other usually items Ark had seen commonly. Although he hadn't ever given the topic much though, Ark found himself exited about his new journey.

After this the professor left his assistant, a small girl, to pass out the items. They all formed a line to receive items. When Ark was up he was given an occupied pokéball, some epmty ones, and some other items which he hastilly stored into his bag. He chose a navy one. He removed his left bracelet and clicked on the Pokétch X and turned it on. After quickly flipping through its features, he turned to the pokéball which contained his starter. He wandered to the edge of the group to see it. "Now lets see who you are." Recalling how to open it, he pushed the circle in the center to let loose a red light that formed into a vaguely familiar shape.

"Twig!"
said the pokemon. Ark gasped happily.

"A Turtwig! just like in Sinnoh!"
He picked up the turtwig and held it to his face.

"So, how are you?"

"Turtwig!"
it said happily.

"So, what should I name you.." Ark though for a second. Snapping, he said "Terrarium." The Turtwig looked confused "No, thanks!" it communicated. "How about Sylvester?" At this he perked up. Ark didn't need to be a sync to tell that was a yes. "And Sylv for short." the turwig said smiling. Sylvester proceed to run around Ark happily.

About then the professor spoke. Group three is Evily Aquana, Rena Russels, and Joshua… erm…" Here he paused. "…Joshua. So get to know each other, and you can go off!"

"C'mon Sylv, lets find our teemates."

"Turwig!"

Jace Moral

This place is quiet, Jace thought as he sat on a log in the middle of Johto's New Bark Town. The town was small, quiet, and peaceful, yet it was still interesting. Towns like this were so uncommon to the point that it was a rarity to live in one and here he was, in a small town where he was invited. The only thing that was un...ordinary about the place was that in the center of the town stood Johto's lead professor of Pokemon and a bunch of teens listening to a speech. Yes, quite a peaceful yet interesting place.

Professor Elm had invited the kids to the the town for one reason alone. They were special. Not the way some people would think but special to the point that they were probably some of the people that possessed the power they did. They were all Syncs. People who could connect with Pokemon to a point way above others. This was told to them in the middle of the speech as well as parts of their mission. "FIND THE LEGENDARY POKEMON." That was all they had to do.

It was even more interesting as even though all the teens were similar in being Syncs, they all had different looks and personalities. It was going to be amazing to see how they would all react with each other, especially once the mission was underway.

The speech lasted for a couple moments longer and Jace was soon presented with items and his soon to be partner. The kids in front of him moved towards the items they would receive and left the line within seconds, they were ordinary kids though he did catch the eyes of the second person. She was a nice, shy looking girl with black hair and seemingly baby blue eyes. Jace thought she was a bit cute, he also thought he may have seen her before. Maybe she's from Mossdeep, he thought, or maybe Lilycove. Either way, she's familiar.

Jace was the fifth person to get his items. One was the new and unreleased PoketchX that he got in a nice blue and orange mixture that seemed to be in an amazing paint splatter pattern. Along with it, he also received his unknown Pokemon and five other Pokeballs as well as some medicinal items.

I'll need to look at the Poketch soon, he said to himself, but for now let's look at my new partner. He proceeded to pulling out the Pokeball with the Pokemon and unleashed it, letting a white light zoom to the ground and let a Pokemon emerge. The Pokemon was a small pig-like being, that was obviously the fire Pokemon, Tepig.

"Well, how do you do there," he asked the small Pokemon.

"Te-Te-Tepig," the Pokemon replied with a smile on his face.

"I'm Jace. Do you want to be called anything? Hmm, Sunny, Blaze, maybe Corona?"

The Pokemon made an even bigger smile when Jace said the last name and squealed in delight. From the looks of it, that was the Tepig's new name.

"Well Corona," he continued, "It's very nice to meet you and I'm glad were going to be partners." He finished the sentence with a warm smile and stood up to look at the rest of the people and Elm suddenly gave them each a team to work with. His being Amber Caulfield, his assistant, Naomi Geneva, the girl who seemed a bit familiar.

"You too! Over here, Jason!" he heard Amber calling for him.

"Well, time to meet more friends," he said to Corona before running over to his team. "Hey."

The sky was clear and the sun was shining, the warm breeze flew throught the crowd of teenagers.Johto is way diffrent from Unova. The teenagers were excited or bored, well,on with the instructions. She looked up and there were Pidget's flying above them.

Proffesor Elm came out of the lab and told us about the journey. "Meeting Legendary Pokemon? Are they more powerful than the ones we are going to get?" Proffesor Elm just finished talking and Evily went to get her items. She got 5 pokeballs,3 potions,1 Paralyze heal,1 antidote, her patner pokemon, and a Poketch-X.Her Poketch-X was red mix orange in color. She looked at her pokeball and turned on her Poketch-X.She ran throught the features and then threw her pokeball.A blue light appeared and a Torchic was in front of her."Hello.Nice to meet you?Can I call you Flare?" "Nice to meet you,and yes, that name is good enought." She looked around and saw a boy with spiky hair having problem with his Poketch-X. She ignored him and saw a girl with a red bow yelling at her. "Hello there. How are you?" Evily looked at Flare and smiled.
"Let's go meet our team mates." They ran to the girl and meet their partners.

It was a day just like any other. The weather was decent, no major news stories, and people were carrying on with their lives as usual. However, Helena knew it was going to be special. It was the day she would on her very own journey! Of course, she was rather skeptical when receiving the letter. Why would she have to go all the way to Johto? What would she have to do on this so-called "important journey?" It didn't divulge too much information, but it was a legitimate request from Professor Elm himself. It would be rude to ignore it.

New Bark Town wasn't too far away, so the journey itself didn't last long, but Helena had never been this far from Cerulean City before. It was quite a change for her, but her curiosity and excitement propelled her forward. Once she arrived, she was pleasantly surprised to see eight other teens standing outside of the laboratory. The letter didn't mention how many people would be there, but for some reason she expected a smaller amount. She wanted to go ahead and introduce herself to everyone, but the visibly nervous professor chose this time to begin his debriefing.

Helena listened to the man intently. Apparently the Pokemon spoken of in legend did exist, which didn't come as too much of a surprise to her. It was a common belief in her hometown that Mewtwo, one of the legendary Pokemon, resided in the cave just outside of the city. Still, it was nice to have confirmation by a renowned scientist. What came afterwards however, was more of a shock to her. Not only were the Pokemon missing, but she was chosen to help find them!

Once Professor Elm finished his explanations, his assistant, a cheerful looking girl, began to distribute the goods. Helena happily received her Pokemon, a hot pink PoketchX, and a bag filled with all of the essentials. She was eager to find out what her very first Pokemon was, and immediately opened up the Poke Ball it was in. A bright burst of energy was released from inside, and an adorable Cyndaquil appeared before here eyes.

"Aww, how precious!" Helena exclaimed as she picked up the small Pokemon. "You must be a Cyndaquil, yes?"

"Q-Quil…" He responded timidly, avoiding eye contact with Helena.

"Oh, don't be shy! I won't hurt your anything, I'm here to be your friend!" She gave him a warm smile, expressing that she was in fact friendly.

"Cynda, cyndaquil." He looked relieved, but obviously wasn't used to this girl who was to be his trainer.

Sensing his unease, Helena placed him back down. She soon crouched down to meet him at a more comfortable level. "Don't worry, little guy. We'll be friends before you know it!" She grinned. "Now what should your name be?" She mulled ideas around her head for a bit, until she finally decided on a good name. "How about Aiden?"

"Quil!" He answered, pleased with her choice.

"It's settled then. Your name is now Aiden!" She beamed. "My name is Helena, by the way. Nice to meet you, Aiden."

After their quick introduction, she heard the professor begin to speak once more. "Okay, everyone, now that you have everything, I've sorted you into groups. I'd like you to stick together, as this will likely make the process smoother than you all being individual or as a large group." Helena was part of the first group, and was paired with two boys, Ian and Dale. She had no idea who they were, but this was a great opportunity to get to know everyone.

Helena decided to introduce herself to the person nearest her, a blond boy with a Turtwig. "Hello, I'm Helena Kenshaw," she began. "And who might you be?"

Ian Pull

Ian pulled his jacket closely to his body. The slight breeze of Newbark town is a tad too cold for Ian, who is used to the warm weather back in his hometown. Blackthorn. He decided to locate the laboratory of Professor Elm. When he arrived, he saw the other kids there, and found out that he was the last to arrive. Fortunately, Elm was a patient man. When everybody was assembled, Elm rambled about their so-called powers. Several of the teens with him took a quick look on their letters; Ian does not need it. His letter was crumpled many times due to the countless reading he did on his way here. He memorized the letter by heart. When he seemed to be finish talking, his assistant, as if on cue, gave out items and a device called PoketchX to each of the teens. He also gave out a Pokeball, obviously containing their starting Pokemon.

Ian looked at the pokeball in his hands. In his bagpack, he stowed away all of his items.

"Okay. Time to know who I am working with," Ian said. He threw it on the ground, and out came a Totodile.

"Toto!" the crocodile looked around and happily waved his hands. Ian let out a smile. "You're kind of cute, I guess." The Totodile stopped flailing its hands.

Cute? ;Dile know me cute!, the Totodile smiled, his little fangs showing.

"Okay, okay. I am Ian Pull," Ian said, and took the Totodile in his arms. "What do I call you?"

Dile Elm calls me, but Vincent I like. the Totodile smiled again.

"Then Vincent it is. Now, we go find our teammates," Ian placed Totodile back on the ground. "Now where to start?"

Names? Vincent asked, his head cocked to one side, as if to show curiosity.

"Helena and Dale, if I remember correctly," Ian answered. To his left, a blond boy with a Turtwig had his back to him. He heard a girl talk to him.

"Hello, I'm Helena Kenshaw." Ian smiled.

"I think I found them," Ian said. He went up to the duo, with his Totodile following him. "Hello. I know I am butting in, but I think I am your third member. Ian Pull, and Vincent, my partner."

Naomi Genava

Her shy habit was always bothersome, but she learned to live with it. Her eyes soon flickered from Amber's eyes to the spiky haired boy approaching them, making her grow even more nervous. Of course, he was cute, but so were the other boys. Any boy would make her nervous, so she quickly glanced away once he met up with them. It was until he responded back that she turned to meet his gaze.

"Hey."

She tried to let out a greeting back, but all that came out was a whisper. "Hello," she mumbled out, but it was loud enough for the three of them to hear. What attracted her was the cute Tepig he had. Her father knew about starters from every region. Naomi, on the other hand, had a love for Unova and Hoenn pokemon. Tepig was Unova, so she quickly adored it. She hid her feelings however, not knowing how Amber and Jace would act around her. Her female Treecko looked down at the Tepig, glancing over it. Naomi barely had learned about her abilities....and her powers were too new to her, that she could barely read a pokemon's mind unless she really tried.

"Bulba!" I'm Bulbasaur!

"A Bulbasaur, huh?" Josh put himself around eye level with the Grass-type and let his eyes blank out, thinking about which region it could've come from. It definitely wasn't Johto-native. "Do you have a name?"

Just Bulbasaur.

"How's Bel sound, then?" The bulb on Bulbasaur's back kind of looked like a bell, and Bud wasn't exactly going to be for girls.

At this, Bulbasaur looked somewhat confused. Did Joshua really understand her? Elm never understood anything she said. Might grow on me.

"Alright. Bel it is." Joshua's eyes returned to normal, he stood back up to a short-lived daze, and looked to Rena and Evily, the apparent other two of his trio. "I guess it's time to meet our group." But he still wasn't exactly interested in meeting his teammates. Maybe a battle would get him more motivated.

"Is anyone up for a battle before we leave?" he asked the other eight teens.

"Bul!" Bel quickly expressed her eagerness to get into the action, too.

Jace Moral

"Hello," the familiar girl mumbled to him as he reached the group. She was a bit quiet, but he was still able to hear. She must be pretty shy, he thought.

To Jace, he thought the girls seemed to be complete opposites. Naomi was quiet and shy, and Amber seemed to be loud and a bit energetic. It was goin to be interesting to see how the three would react throughout the journey but Jace did feel like they would all become good friends in the end.

Beside him, Corona was already sending waves of happiness as he sniffed around at the two girls, ending up looking at Naomi's Treecko.

Hmm, Treecko's from Hoenn and is a grass type... I wonder if her and Corona would get along, he thought. Then directing at his own pokemon, you may be able to play with her later. Right now, let's just get to know them a bit more, ok?

Ok, the Tepig thought at him with a wave of disappointment.

It was still odd to Jace that he could talk to his Pokemon telepathically yet he still had a firm grasp on his ability. He had only found out his power a short time before had gotten his letter and even now he could only understand Pokemon less fluently then he liked.

Behind him, he the boy with the clothes made of Pokemon offer a battle before everyone left. Honestly, Jace was pumped to get a chance to battle already, yet he also thought the best thing to do now was talking.

"So," he started saying to the girls, "How are you two? Are you guys from around here or another region?" The last part was more directed at Naomi, the one he couldn't help but feel he knew or had at least seen around some town or city.

Naomi Genava

"Is anyone up for a battle before we leave?" a boy asked out into the blue, probably nobody in particular. She immediately declined, since she had just got her Treecko who was no experience what so ever. If she did battle, she would end up losing anyway. She then tried her telepathy as she looked down at her Treecko and tried to think.

'We can battle another time.....okay?' she thought to her Treecko. It took a while until the pokemon gave back a response.

'Mhm,' was all that came out of Treecko, Naomi taking it as a 'yes'. Naomi smiled, able to get an answer from the tedious Treecko. She noticed how Jace's Tepig was glancing at her Treecko with curiosity and wonder. It was until Jace glanced down at his Tepig that the fire pokemon suddenly looked impatient and saddened. He must have told him to play later or something....since they all had the powers and all.

"So," Jace started saying to the girls, "How are you two? Are you guys from around here or another region?" he asked the two of them. Something in her heart started to get nostalgic, as if she has seen him before. She gazes up at him, wondering if she had seen him before or not, but couldn't quite lay a finger on it. Before she does judge, she must know where's he's even from. If from Hoenn....then maybe she had seen him somewhere.

"Umm, fine. From Hoenn......Sootopolis," was all she could manage out, but this time she was able to say it a bit louder than before. Saying her city, she realized she's visited other islands before, which then popped out Jace's picture. 'He must be....from Hoenn then,' she thought, wondering and trying to figure out where she had seen him before. Her Treecko picked up on that.

'Huh?' she was puzzled. The lazy green pokemon was just held there, watching over the other pokemon. She had a grudge against other cool pokemon, since she already thought she would dominate in that aspect. The only other grass pokemon were a Bulbasaur and Turtwig, but she didn't mind those pokemon at all.

Evily, one of Rena's teammates, began to run towards her, after Rena called her over. "Hello there! How are you coping with this whole journey thing?" Rena started, trying to make conversation.

However, Rena's other partner, Joshua, shouted over the crowd. "Is anyone up for a battle before we leave?" he asked, and his Bulbasaur enthused her want for a battle in much the same fashion.

"Sure, I'm all for it!" Rena shouted back. Immediately, she felt bad for leaving Evily in the dust. "Oh, sorry, Evily. That was...impulse. I tend to do that a lot," Rena said, with a sorry look on her face. "You can watch us if you want!" Rena then walked over to Joshua, ready to start the battle.

Almost immediately after Ark had begun to look for the other two people in his group, he had heard a voice behind him.

"Hello, I'm Helena Kenshaw," she said. "And who might you be?"

Ark turned around to say hello, releived that his teamates had found him, but before he could say anything, he heard another voice coming from a boy who had just walked up to them. "Hello. I know I am butting in, but I think I am your third member. Ian Pull, and Vincent, my partner."

"Hello Ian and Helena."
he paused "And Vincent as well!" the totodile looked pleased. "I'm Dale, but I prefer to be called Ark if you don't mind. This is Sylvester" He said gesturing to the Turtwig.

"Twig! Turtwig!" "Pleased to meet you." He looked suspiciously towards the Cyndaquil.

After the exchange, Ark heard a voice behind him. This one deeper and in an exited tone, asking for a battle. This was followed by a equally anxious "Bul!" obviously a bulbasaur. Many eyes regarded the boy with expressions of eagerness, caution, irritation, and confusion. A girl with an Oshawott excepted his challenge. Ark eagerly jogged to wear they met to watch their battle, uttering a breif "C'mon!" to his teammates.

"Um… yes," the other girl seemed to be the quiet type, and perhaps a little taken aback. The shy type, huh? The shorter girl glanced over to the side, to the boy walking towards them. He was holding a small orange pig; Tepig, she recalled,a cheerful little thing.

Jason mumbled something to his new Pokémon before greeting them with a "Hey." Naomi, the other girl, squeaked out a response and Amber just smiled at him. Naomi's Pokémon, a Treecko, regarded the other Pokémon who was snuffling around the two girl's feet. Oh, jeez, right, she totally forgot – what was her Pokémon? Her thought was brushed away as she heard someone cry out for a battle – oh, how cute, just like kids always want to when they start – and then Jason began to speak.

"So, how are you two?" his friendly question was. "Are you from around here, or from another region?" With that last statement he seemed to glance at Naomi, as if he was trying to recall a long-lost face. Naomi seemed to struggle a little with her answer at first, but since the ice had already broken Amber could actually hear what she said this time.

"Um, fine. From Hoenn… Sootopolis." Oh, wow! Amber had read about that city – built in a crater of white rocks, nearly impossible to get in without some form of flight. And that's where some of the Legendary Pokémon were rumoured to have lived, right? How interesting.

"I'm fine too," Amber spoke once she could tell Naomi had finished. "And I was born and raised here… nothing really interesting! Oh, right, right!" She held out the Pokéball which had almost stuck to her palm with sweat, and let it drop onto the ground. In a flash of bright white, a small blue turtle stared up at her quizzically. The chocolate-haired girl couldn't help but smile. "Aha, a Squirtle! Awesome!"

As if in response to her sort-of praise, the warmth of happiness flowed from the small Pokémon's mind. Trainer! Too, awesome, yeah? Amber giggled and let the Water type introduce himself to the other starters standing at their trainers' feet.

The cry for a battle was answered by the tall girl, who doubled back from her excited start to talk to one of her trio, another young girl with a strange affinity for the color blue. Amber almost wanted to go over and watch the battle, but it wouldn't be too different from the kids she always saw, right? Nevertheless, she proposed the question to the other teens standing with her. "Um, do you want to check this out or head off? I'm fine either way!"

Ian Pull

The blonde boy turned and smiled. "Hello Ian and Helena, and Vincent as well!" he said gesturing to the totodile. Vincent flailed his arms wildly. For some reason, Vincent apparently understood what the boy said.

"I'm Dale, but I prefer to be called Ark if you don't mind. This is Sylvester," he said pointing to his Turtwig. The Turtwig... err. Sylvester was looking at Helena's Cyndaquil rather suspiciously. So I guess, it will be a Turtwig-Cyndaquil-Totodile team. Having studied extensively about Pokemon, he knew their evolutions would be awesome, albeit less awesome than the others.

The shouts for a battle arose from the other side of the ream. Vincent's ears perked up and he looked at the direction of the sound. Several of the kids were already heading towards it.\

Vincent want to watch the battle, the Totodile pleaded, his eyes glowing.

"C'mon!" Ark said. Ian was suddenly hit by a sudden spark. He laughed.

"Of course... Dale. I will be coming," Ian said. He wanted to see how Dale will react bu him calling him Dale. Mischievous me. He walked along Dale towards the sound of the battle. Ian saw a Bulbasaur and an Oshawott facing each other.

"This better be good."

"Nice to meet you all!" Helena smiled. Both of her teammates seemed like nice people, which meant they should be able to get along just fine. She would hate to have a partner who she didn't get along with.

She glanced over at her partners' Pokemon. They were a Turtwig and a Totodile, and both were super cute. However, she noticed that Sylvester was giving Aiden a suspicious look. It was probably out of instinct, considering the type-difference.

"Oh, yes. I almost forgot to introduce my Pokemon as well! This is Aiden." She gestured at the Cyndaquil, hiding behind her leg. "Don't by shy," she encouraged him. "These guys will be our travelling partners!"

"Quil." "Hi." He managed to greet them.

Suddenly, she heard one of the people she hadn't met yet request a battle. The call was quickly answered by another, a girl whom she hadn't met either. "Well this should certainly be interesting." Helena thought aloud. "Perhaps we should watch it as well, Aiden?"

The Cyndaquil seemed to nod in agreement, and considering her teammates were also going to watch, there wasn't too much of a choice. "It'll make for a good reference, at least." She smiled and proceeded on over towards where the others were gathering for the battle.

Rena was the first to take up Joshua's offer with a lively, "Sure, I'm all for it!" Her Oshawott looked raring to go as they readied themselves for a battle.

"You probably guessed by now; I'm Joshua. And you are?"

"Rena! I'm one of your partners. The other one is Evily Aquana over there." The girl nodded in Evily's direction, before turning her head back to Joshua, sporting a wide grin and saying, "You're charmed, I'm sure."

A little self-centered, but okay. "I guess," he answered a little dryly. But how convenient was it to be battling a teammate? What better way to get to know who you're going around with than that? "Would you like to start?" he asked, wondering whether it would be better to try Syncing up with Bel, or just being old-fashioned as the Bulbasaur prepared herself.

"Alright then, Oshawott. Let's show 'em what we can do!" the girl spoke, to the Oshawott she's been hugging for a while now. It jumped off of her hands and took on a battle stance.

"Osha!" said the Pokemon. Rena held up her index finger at Joshua, motioning for him to pause for a while. Her face showed confusion while she looked at Oshawott, but after a while, her face brightened.

"He just said that he's excited to try out this whole battling thing," Rena beamed. "Who can blame him? I'm just as excited, if not more. Let's start with Tackle!" And the Oshawott leaped into action, charging at the Bulbasaur head-first.

"Bel, out of the way, then use Tackle yourself." She responded, jumping to her left and letting Rena's new Pokémon pass her by before chasing after it. It was pretty speedy, especially for a young quadruped.

"Oshawott, dodge it!" Rena said.

"Osha!" The Oshawott did a sidestep, but he wasn't quick enough to dodge the charging Bulbasaur. He was thrown back a few meters, but recovered quickly. The Tackle seemed to leave a mark, since Oshawott visibly breathed heavier for a moment.

"Darn it! Oshawott, use Tail Whip!" Rena commanded. The Oshawott turned around to wag his tail cutely, while inching closer to Bel. Rena released a quiet sound that was somewhere between a whimper and a scream, evidently charmed by Oshawott's cuteness.

The Bulbasaur started to walk back a short distance, and her trainer was slightly confused at Rena's... squeak? Oh well. "Growl," and the Bulbasaur started to do just that alongside (sort of) roaring at its opponent. It was quickly met by Rena with another--seriously, what IS that sound?

"Now then, use Tackle!" Oshawott immediately turned around--he was only a little ways away from Bel now--and charged with all its might. Too close to avoid.

Even though the Growl was able to balance out the effects of Tail Whip, Bel was knocked back, hitting New Bark Town's sign bulb-first. It started to see stars, and fell unconscious while it was trying to stand back up. Joshua walked over and picked it up, pulling out its Pokéball and drawing the Bulbasaur back in. "Guess you're not big on defense," he commented before looking at Rena and putting the Pokéball away. "That was fun." Maybe I should try Synchronizing with it next time. Would that yield any better results?

Rena cheered for her Oshawott, picked it up, and hugged it profusely, agreeing with Joshua wholeheartedly. "We need to do that again sometime!"

Ian Pull

The battle between Rena and Joshua was a heated one, especially considering the fact that they are both new trainers in a way. Ian observed that both of the contender have powerful mastery over their Pokemon, moving in such a way that their attacks, dodges, blocks are so fluid. Ian smiled. I am really a part of a great group of kids. That inflated Ian's self esteem.

"Now then, use Tackle!" Rena shouted. The Oshawaott quickly turned on the spot, and slammed the Bulbasaur head on. Ian cheered as the Grass-type flew, hitting a nearby sign. It was clearly knocked unconscious. Joshua recalled his Pokemon, and congratulated Rena who was hugging her Oshawott. Ian smiled. Those Pokemon are actually strong for their age. Ian looked at Vincent. The Totodile was chasing its own tail. When it finally caught up with it, he grabbed it and nibbled on it. He looks really happy. Now is not the time to test your strength, little Dile.

I heard that Ian. Vincent looked up and stopped nibbling on his tail. the Totodile climbed on Ian's leg, and perched atop his head, his arms swaying on his sides, covering Ian's ears. Me no want to battle yet. Vincent sleep. In got his Pokemon from his head, and looked at it. He sighed. The Totodile is already asleep. We will have a long way to go Vincent. I am sure you'll grow up.
