Really don't feel like posting a big update right now. Too lazy. I'll just summarize what happened I guess.

So I went through the event with Team Rocket at the battle tower and beat 'em once and for all, yada yada yada. After that, there remained only one gym: Claire's. Getting through Ice Path was a pain. Training to beat Claire was also a pain. And so was actually beating Claire. But ultimately I beat her, got the Dragon Fang thingy, got my badge, and set off for the league.

At Tohjo Falls, happened to run into a Slowpoke. Finally. Caught it and named it Kirby. Backtracked to go find a King's Rock, in hopes of evolving it into Slowking. Found King's Rock, and discovered a crapton of Slowpokes already available in said cave's water. Even some wild Slowbros. After feeling stupid for missing all that, picked up the King's Rock, but remembered that in this game you cannot trade. Dreams ruined. Just go to grind and eventually level Kirby up into a Slowbro instead.

Currently saved at the league, trained and ready to take on the Johto E4 and Champion. From what I've heard, apparently Red is already the champ in this hack.

Just to check, because I can get Kakuna, Beedrill and Pikachu before the first gym I won't be able to use my starter for that gym? I presume it is the case that as soon as I can get a Pokemon of my colour I must stop using my starter?

Er, not sure what you are doing here, but "Cream" isn't a Pokedex color. Typhlosion is Yellow, and Pidgeot is Brown. You need to follow the rules. Check the OP for the color list.

Update to my team guys! I've decided that instead of using Bellossom, I will be using Sceptile. It just makes more sense to me, like durr, thats the starter pokemon. Anyways, here it is.

Journal Entry #1

Chose treecko as my starter, named it Speedy.
Defeated Rival, Speedy grew to Lv. 6
Grinded in wild grass on the way to Oldale town, Speedy grew to Level 7.
All in all, between the tutorials and wild pokemon Speedy reached level 10.
Made my way to Petalburg City after battling trainers on Route 103.
Did all that crap with your Dad and catching wally a pokemon, Ill spare you the details.
On route 104, caught a wurmple! Thought I was going to need to wait until Petalburg Woods, but I guess not. Nicknamed it Sulfuerox
Grinded with Sulfuerox and got it to Level 7. It evolved into Cascoon. YAY!
Grinded a bit more, Cascoon evolved into Dustox, Level 10!
CURRENT TEAM

Sulfuerox - Level 10

Leaf Green Yellow Mono-Colour run - Update 1
It begins!

Log
> Started with an unwanted Squirtle. Quickly progressed up to Viridian forest and caught a Weedle (nickname Hanzo). Deposited Squirtle to the eternal prison of the PC.
> Quickly evolved Weedle to the desired Beedrill, grinded for a while in preparation for the dreaded Pewter City gym.
> Challenged Brock with Hanzo at level 16. Managed to win first time by maxing defense with harden whilst facing Geodude, healing, then whittling down Geodude and then Onix by poisoning them and then whittling them down with Fury Attack (with boosted crit chance from Focus Energy). Claimed the Boulderbadge!
> After multiple trips back to the Pokemon center, made it through Mt Moon and arrived at Cerulean City
> Caught a Sandshrew on route 4. Nicknamed Bolin.

Current Team:

Hanzo (Beedrill ♂) - Lvl 27 - No Item
Moves: Twineedle, Focus Energy, Harden, Fury Attack

Bolin (Sandshrew ♂) - Lvl 19 - No Item
Moves: Scratch, Defense Curl, Sand Attack, Poison Sting

The Manly Misadventure: Part 0.5
__________
  • The E4 were a breeze! The only Pokemon that fainted was Mack the Porygon, a.k.a the weakest link on my team
  • Champion Red was a little harder. But with the help of some Hyper Potions, he was easy too. To be honest I am disappoint. Well, Kanto will be harder I suppose.
  • Nooope...
  • I arrive in Kanto, and every trainer is easy as heck to beat! Even the gyms are too.
  • Cruised through Kanto, getting me my badges. My Pokemon are so overleveled. I certainly hope the final Champion is harder than all these gym leaders.
  • After beating Brock, went to Mount Moon to catch a Clefairy! Before that, found Rival Omar and battled her again. Easy of course. Nicknamed the Clefairy Nice.
  • Spent the next two hours training Nice up to the level of the others. Also used Moon Stone to evolve him to Clefable.
  • Decided to box Mack. Honestly that Porygon has become useless compared to the rest of my team.
  • Presently have 15 badges. My very last one is within reach, if I could just find Gary mothereffin' Oak.

Update #1: Yellow - White 2
Wow, I really have to get used to using a full team again, or at least I'm working towards having a full team. I'm so used to doing solo runs all the time. I like the variety this challenge (and others) give. The only downside is I get annoyed really fast if I can't OHKO a Pokémon :) I always plan my teams out for these kind of challenges and I begin my playthrough with some expectations (or none) for Pokémon I've never used before (or rarely used). So far I'm quite disappointed with Elekid and I hope it gets better when it evolves, but Sewaddle makes up for it big time. I don't really like the way Leavanny looks, but if it keeps this upward trend Sewaddle's got going, then it's sure to get used in future teams.

The Manly Misadventure: Final (0.6)
__________
  • So after an hour of stupidly looking around for Gary, realized it's just Giovanni and he was in the gym the whole time. Dammit
  • Finally a gym leader who was actually tough. All his Pokemon were up to par with the levels of mine, so beating him was tougher than most.
  • With Giovanni down, went back to Prof. Oak and gained access to Cerulean Cave. This time I actually did my research; I should find the final trainer Leaf at the end.
  • Tried to fight Leaf. Failed miserably. Remembered the final trainer has Pokemon in the Level 80s and went to do training
  • There was no way I had enough patience to get my Pokemon up to par with hers. They were in their 50s-60s and it would take ages.
  • In the end, trained only my most useful team members to 60s - early 70s
  • Felt like completing my team to get 6 Pokemon, but couldn't find any other useful pink Pokemon around. In the end, just withdrew Mack from the PC because wynaut
  • Vs. Trainer Leaf. The only team members actually useful in this fight were Kirby, Double L (the biggest help of all), and Nice. Honorable mention to Marley, who took out Lapras. Mack was utterly useless, and The Wiggs took a crit to the face and ended up dying right off the bat.
  • Beat her by the skin of my teeth. Creditrollpls!
  • And... well, yeah, that's it. CHALLENGE FINISHED!

I got a question, since the minimum Pokemon is two, but for Kanto there's only Snorlax as a black colored Pokemon, am I allowed to use Snorlax only?

Right, that is one of the only exceptions to the minimum rule. You can count it as a Solo Challenge too! :)

Finally back with more of this, after almost a month, haha.

White Red Mono-Color - Update #2

Spoiler:
After beating Cress, I met with Amanita, then went to the Dreamyard and got Team Plasma out of there. I got the C-Gear, and went up Route 3, where I had to catch another Pokémon briefly so I could do a Double Battle. I beat Cheren, he was a little tricky but I got past him. Then I went into Wellspring Cave and beat the Plasma grunts with him, and Rollerbite evolved into Pignite.

I wanted to avoid all the trainers at first, because there was a Pokémon I wanted to catch first. After making it to Nacrene City, Cheren said some stuff, then I went to Pinwheel Forest, where I caught a Throh which I named Slowball. First try was Relaxed nature with Guts, which was perfect. I then did some training on the Route 3 trainers, which helped them up fast. I got through N rather easily, then the Nacrene Gym trainers.

For Lenora, I started with Rollerbite, who was Intimidated by Herdier. I was actually faster than her Herdier, and hit hard with Arm Thrust because I hit four times. Her Take Down did just less than half, and I killed her by hitting three times. Watchog put me to sleep with Hypnosis, but my Chesto Berry helped and I hit for more than half with three hits of Arm Thrust. But then I hit twice, and barely survived her Retaliate. I switched into Slowball as she healed. She used Leer and almost died to a Vital Throw, then she used Retaliate which barely did anything and I won.

Team Plasma attacked the museum and we had to help! I got the Dowsing Machine from Bianca, beat a few trainers in outer Pinwheel Forest, and then went through the exterior. I got Venipede, which I named Intoxicate. Unfortunately, I blew all three tries and ended up with crap natures each one, being stuck with Rash in the end. Going through Pinwheel Forest, I got a few levels.

I crossed Skyarrow Bridge into Castelia, then on Route 4 I caught a Sandile named Dune Buggy. Then I got a Scraggy named Quiche, which I managed to luck out with an Impish nature on my third (and last) try, after Calm and Modest. Darumaka I wasn’t so lucky with, Mild, Brave and Calm in that order. I named it Habanero. I beat a bunch of trainers and got some nice items, including the Exp. Share and Amulet Coin, then helped Bianca and Iris eradicate Team Plasma. The trainers in the Castelia Gym were only annoying when they had Dwebble. Intoxicate evolved into Whirlipede at the last trainer.

Now we get to Burgh! I thought he led with Dwebble, but he had Whirlipede instead. So I went to Habanero, as he used Pursuit against Slowball for a pittance. Fire Fang was an OHKO. I went back to Slowball for Dwebble and beat it with no problems whatsoever. I switched out to Rollerbite for Leavanny, watched him waste Protects, ate a Razor Leaf easily and 2HKO’ed him with Flame Charge.

Then I went to Route 4 and beat Bianca, she wasn’t too tough. Cheren was a tad harder than Bianca but still not too bad. Some of the trainers were REALLY annoying, especially with Habanero who kept missing because of Hustle. I got to Nimbasa City and fought a stupid grunt, then received the Bicycle.

I checked out the Musical with Bianca and dressed up my Throh, which was amusing. Her dad tried to take her home but Elesa stopped him. I found N, and rode the ferris wheel with him (in before N x Hilda shippers…or Autumn in my case), then he challenged me after some grunts showed up. I was able to weaken his Sigilyph after some Flame Charges, and his Scraggy was super aggravating with Swagger. But we beat him.

Then we had the Desert Resort, which had more annoying trainers, but some of them were manageable. More importantly I got TM39 for Rock Tomb. I didn’t bother with the Relic Castle; I just went back to the Nimbasa Gym and beat the trainers.

After that was the Gym Leader, Elesa herself. Dune Buggy started off by Intimidating her first Emolga. Even then, Aerial Ace was doing a bit less than 1/3, but I had Torment waiting for her. I switched out to Habanero while she had a bit over half health, and she Volt Switched out to her second one. I got her Attack lowered and Tormented again, but I used Rest to restore some health. I got her stats lowered again and used Rest once more. I switched in Slowball and took 1/4 from Aerial Ace then brought in Dune Buggy again to half her Attack. I missed with Rock Tomb three times, and had to go to Rollerbite, who did less than half with Flame Charge. I did get Quiche out to kill her first Emolga with Payback. After I beat her second Emolga, I only had Slowball (who was almost dead) and Dune Buggy at full and asleep. I switched in Dune Buggy to Intimidate her, then Slowball Quick Attack with 6 HP, allowing me to get another Intimidate off. Once I only had Dune Buggy left, she had -3 Attack. After waking up, I used Rest again, then woke up with just over half health, and 2HKO’ed her with Dig. Dune Buggy had less than half health left, but we won first try.

I healed up after that, thank goodness. Hopefully I never have to do that again! >_>

With that, here’s my team:
