Grave of the Fireflies
Fullmetal Alchemist
Cowboy Bebop
Monster
Death Note
Rurouni Kenshin (before fillers)

The best anime that I have ever seen though is the Rurouni Kenshin Trust and Betrayal(Tsuiokohen) OVA series. If you have seen Rurouni Kenshin and liked it you will probably love this. If you haven't then you won't get the max out of it but it is still amazing. It is nothing short of a masterpiece.

I'm not the biggest Anime fan, but I do enjoy anime.
Here are my top animes, you should check them out. (If you want :p)
There're not in any specific order. I like them all the same expect for...

1. Durarara (I like this anime the most.)
2. Air Gear (OVA is good too.)
3. Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne
4. Baccano
5. Demon King Daimao
6. Sekirei
7. Eden of the East

Let's see...

Eden of the East: Let's face it. A good anime of the mystery genre is hard to find these days. EotE was very creative and filled with interesting plot points and memorable characters.

FMA Brotherhood: Need I say more?

Death Note: One of the greatest series I have ever watched. The anime is essentially a cat-and-mouse game between two characters.

That question for me is hard to answer because I've watched too many good anime series'! ^^;;
The best anime I've ever seen would be in this list because at the moment, I can't choose :3
→Darker Than Black
→Tales of the Abyss
→Kuromuksuji
→Umineko no Naku Koro Ni
→Eikoku Koi Monogatari Emma/Emma: A Victorian Romance
→Hetalia
→Gosick
→Higurashi no naku koro ni
→Clannad/Clannad : After Story
→Ano Hana

And apparently Graceful is still alive after a very long hiatus ♥

To be honest, I don't watch much anime. I don't watch much TV at all, actually. But, of the few animes I have seen, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann takes the cake with ease. Absolutely mind-blowingly fantastic. Everyone should see it.

Gurren Lagann, Fullmetal Alchemist, Avatar: the Last Airbender, GITS: Stand Alone Compex 2nd G.I.G.
Avatar isn't anime! Common mistake, but it's a Western cartoon ;)

If Avatar: The Legend of Korra were anime, that'd probably be my favorite. I just finished it this morning... AMAZING.

But for strictly Japanese stuff, Yu Yu Hakusho, Tenchi Muyo, and Toradora are a few of my favorites.
Team Aureol of Kanto: Strike first, strike hard.

I'd have to say hands down: One Piece.

I came in with very low expectations and thought it was childish.
I watched a few episodes when it was dubbed by
4kids. I hated it.

I thought I'd give it ago this year and I love it. The characters, the backstories, the story, the animation. It's all amazing. I'm able to relate to this anime.
Even though it gets fairly boring at some points, some of the arcs overdrawn. I still love it.

Definitely Akira. I think it is a masterpiece in animation.

As for shows? Well I can't really say it's the best or anything, but I will always love DBZ and Yugioh <3

Also, Madoka Magica gets some credit, because sooo many mindfreaks and twists.
I agree with this 1,000,000,000,000%. It took two of my favorite things about some anime (which is some being girly and some being violent) and combined them. Plus,Mami was freaking AWESOME with her guns.

This may come as no surprise to many others, but I love SKET Dance.
It really seemed to pull of the whole "high school club" anime-type really
well! The characters seem realistic, and they're all pretty open with each other. And there are characters that are hilarious sometimes, and serious other times. And the action scenes with Himeko, and occasionally Bossun are awesome.

I'm also really addicted to Ao no Exorcist, or Blue Exorcist. Favorite shonen action anime.

Originally I would have said Dragon Ball, the entire series (well, not GT, but I don't consider that canon anyways); I consider it one of the most underrated as well as the most belittled anime of all time. The amount of pure genius and revolutionary potential in the show is astounding, but the problem is that due to it's rubbing up against the manga release, it had to do things such as add filler and the like to make ends meet. Regardless, it my favorite manga series.

Otherwise, Summer Wars, which also shares the spot as the best movie I've ever seen (anime or otherwise). The mannerisms and animation are incredibly well done, the atmosphere and world that the movie exists in is detailed and believable, and the characters, despite their amount, are unique, varied, contemporary, and incredibly well done, something that is rarely seen when it comes to a show with a boatload of main characters (especially when it comes to movies). I could go on for hours about how much I love this movie, there is so much in the way of art that makes me, personally, love this movie.
