Prologue

All of the trainers that were participating in the Tabi Tournament were standing in straight rows and columns at Mt. Battle. Several hundred trainers greeted the creator of this tournament, Adrien Yukimura. Adrien looked to be a suave businessman with his nice, button-down black jacket and black tie. His white dress shirt was lined to every perfection as was his black slacks. He walked in the finest Italian footwear, black of course. His perfect smiling visage, full of sparkling white teeth that were lined just correct, greeted every trainer.

"Thank you all for coming to the first annual Tabi Tournament," said Adrien with a charming smile. "I'm the creator of this tournament, Adrien Yukimura. Before I had become the business man that I am today, I had started out just like all of you: trainers hoping to become the best. Of course, after my few years of pokemon battling, my father had laid down the law and told me to come back home and continue the family legacy: the Yukimura corperation. I agreed, as you see.

"I had the idea of creating the Tabi Tournament quite a while ago, but I managed to create it this year," continued Adrien. "I was worried that no one was going to come to such a starting and small tournament, but I guess I was wrong!" Adrien laughed. "Now, after that boring and dreadful talk, let's get to business, shall we?

"First things first, the Tabi Tournament is not about testing your battling skills, it's about testing your survival skills," said Adrien smoothly, ignoring any confused looks that popped up in the crowd. "Despite battling being a huge part of survival, this tournament isn't going to be your average tournament. No, this tournament will be just like starting over again. Well," Adrien amended, "starting over again with pokemon at level fifty-five or below. The supplies you have with you? Replaced by supplies and backpacks from the Yukimura corporation. I'm not totally heartless, however," here Adrien gave a winning smile, "as I'm allowing you guys to take one item, not including clothes, from your pack that can help you forge it out in the wilderness. In case that you have any personal items, such as photos, letters, or anything of the sort, a table of judges," here Adrien directed the trainers' attention to the panel of ten to his right, "will make sure that the personal items will not help you out in anyway aside from solace. They will also be the ones giving you all your packs. That doesn't mean to say that you will never see them again; there may be times where some items will just find you or, if you never make it that far, after you turn in your resignation or lose in the tournament, your items will be returned to you in the exact way as you left them. Well, maybe a little bit dusty.

"Despite being at the finishing point, your journey has just begun. Around, there are designated teleporting circles that will send you all into different places. Some in the middle of a route, some in the middle of a city. Some trainers may go to the same place, but don't think that if you want to be with a friend, you can follow right after them in the teleporter pod. After a trainer is teleported, the place where the next trainer is being sent is reset and they will be sent to a different place. But, who knows, it may happen.

"Continuing on, the teleporter pods will not be on until everyone has gotten their pack together. So, after you all are done, do not be afraid to mingle with your competitors and create rivalries. Without rivalries, how would this tournament be fun?

"That's enough of my chatter," said Adrien. "May the odds be ever in your favor." A few people laughed.

With the final words being said, Adrien smiled one last time at the trainers and stepped off the stage.

What You're Doing

You all have already gotten your packs together and are just waiting for the teleporter pods to turn on. You may state your thoughts throughout Adrien's speech, if you wish, but otherwise this will be the time to mingle and create rivalries. Although I suppose it is alright to create a rivalry with an NPC, I would rather you all gather rivalries with your other RPs, alright?

What's in the pack: six bottles of water, two weeks' worth of food (if you manage it wisely), a box of matches, a sleeping bag, and a collapsible tent.

Guys, DO NOT sneak anything through that isn't the item that you choose. That means no sneaking weapons on your body, unless you choose ONE weapon as your survival item, or any weapons on your personal items. With your post, state the survival item that you are bringing with you and the personal items. I will tell you if these items are not allowed. Portable PCs are good as a survival item, by the way.

So, guys, get posting!

Act 1: That special something...

"That's enough of my chatter. May the odds be ever in your favor."

The so-called Mr. Adrien Yukimura, finally finished his speech of the Tabi Tournament before he stepped down from the stage platform he was addressing the trainers from. Many of the trainers had broken off into smaller groups as they took the creator's statements to heart with the need to strike up new rivalries in this "new" journey laid before them. One of few characters, however, wasn't with a group at all. Her striking lavender hair made her stood out yet she stood by herself as she held a blank stare, pondering about... things.

The girl rummaged through the violet and white shoulder bag the was slung over her left arm. No more than a few seconds had passed before she brought out a handheld black and violet device that had the looks of a Pokegear. An engraving could be seen slightly upon the side of it bearing the name, Primeria Sage. The young girl flipped open her Pokegear and began pressing the touch pad on it before she brought the device to the side of her ear.

"...Mother? ... ... Y-Yes... I'm here... No no... I'm fine... ... It... might be a long journey again... I'm sorry... A-After I had just come back too... ... Don't worry... ... I'll... I'll be fine... I have my Pokemon... ... I know... ... Yes... ... I'll call you again soon... ... Yes... I have to go now... ... Bye..." Primeria softly spoke into the Pokegear before a small beep motioned her to remove the device from her ear. Closing it, Primeria looked down at the Pokegear. Remembering the words of Mr. Yukimura, Primeria began thinking about what one item to bring. She didn't care much except for some necessities, but since her belongings were going to get swapped for the, she wasn't sure what would be useful or not. The Pokegear seemed to call out to Primeria as she held onto it before a voice came from out of nowhere.

"... Primeria... You should... choose that..." a soft voice, almost a whisper, had swept through her head. Primeria stared at the device once more before she turned around in an attempt to identify the familiar voice. Finishing her round-about, Primeria found that familiar voice that called to her, her Gardevoir, Ester. The graceful Gardevoir slightly bowed her head to her master before raising it again to meet Primeria's eyes.

"...Yes... I... I know... I had a feeling..." Primeria murmured back to her companion. Ester was usually the watchful big sister among Primeria's party of misfits and played her role all the while still. Though Ester can still only speak pokemon language, she can, however, telepathically talk to Primeria, something they both gained over the course of their many journeys, thus making Ester's thoughts clear to her master.

"... It's functions... will help you... ... and should any danger ever arise... you have us..." Ester communicated telepathically once more before raising her right hand to catch an unsuspecting teardrop that managed to escape from Primeria's eyes. A smile made it's way onto Primeria's face before she closed her eyes and softly spoke.

"... Thank you, Ester... " Primeria suppressed her tears that were waiting to burst out and wiped her eyes in an attempt to remove them.

"... Wait..." Primeria started, "... I don't remember... letting you out..." Primeria looked blankly at Ester while Ester tried to avoid eye contact.

"... ... W-Well... I thought... you might... need some help... yes... that's why..." Ester's telepathic voice held a small tone of unease. Primeria strongly peered at her companion before Ester began to sweatdrop.

"... Aaaaaah! Y-You... You did it again, didn't you?" Primeria's soft tone suddenly got louder. Primeria knew when Ester felt coup up in her Pokeball, Ester would weasel out of it to get some fresh air, despite Primeria needing her or not.

"...I know your tired of it sometimes, but... you can't just pop out like that... You might cause a scene, ...you know?" Primeria was unaware of her loud tone as she lectured her Pokemon.

"... ... But... you're causing a scene... Primeria... " Ester tried to point it out, as some of the people turned their heads towards their direction, but it was to no avail. She could only stand there as the lecture continued.

Marcus stood near the back of the crowd of trainers. Sliver was resting on his shoulders, half asleep. Ever since leaving home it had felt wrong to put Sliver in a pokeball. So for most of the day Sliver had been riding around on Marcus' shoulders. It was warm near the mountain so Marcus was wearing his standard dull, grey t-shirt. His jeans were the faded pair he had worn on so many travels.

Marcus turned his attention back to the speech being given by a man who would have fitted well in one of his mother's cocktail parties. Social events were never his strong point and Marcus had only rarely joined in the parties. How anyone could feel comfortable in such formal clothes was beyond him.

As the speech moved on to the tournament itself, Marcus started to pay a little bit more interest. A survival based tournament. Did this mean that supplies would be rare? Would there be places to purchase pokeballs, potions and other requirements? Food would be rare too then. A single survival object and personal objects were all that you were allowed to take? This was definitely different to the way Marcus had ever left before. If you could buy supplies, maybe it would be advantageous to call his parents to loan him some money.

"I can think about this in a bit. If only one survival object is allowed, I better get rid of some of this food," Marcus said walking away from the groups of trainers as the speech ended. He dropped his bag on the floor and opened it to reveal a lot bags of pokemon food. It had been made especially for him by his father. "This stuff doesn't keep as long as the store bought stuff, shame. There are several meals in each one…but oh well." With that Marcus released his pokemon. Chunky was asleep, no surprises there. The smell of food would wake him up shortly. Sliver unfurled himself from around Marcus' shoulders and sprang onto Chunkys stomach. A small yawn escaped from Sliver as he stretched out and then curled back up.

MM was sitting cross-legged on the ground, observing the surroundings, watching for anything interesting. Next to him Shunt was glaring at the bag of food with his picture on it, waiting for the food to appear. Nont stood at the back, stretching her wings. She looked at the sky with longing eyes. She hated being on the ground. She understood that it was only temporary but didn't like it. Last was a small Riolu, looking slightly out of place among all the higher evolution pokemon. At least until you noticed the glint in his eyes.

"Chow time, eat all you can because we won't be able to take any with us." Marcus said, opening 6 of the bags in turn and then passing them out. Sam rolled up his bag and placed it on the ground. Marcus raised and eyebrow but Sam just shook his head and walked over to Marcus to hand the bag to him. Now would be as good a time to start socialising as any other. "Look after them and don't let them get in trouble. I am going to go talk to people. Also, don't let anyone wake up Chunky, you know how annoyed he gets when someone wakes him up." With that Marcus wandered off to go find someone to talk to.

'Avoid groups of people,' Marcus thought, looking for the people who were on their own. 'Why was I cursed with an inability to feel comfortable talking to people?' Marcus silently thought to himself. Nobody seemed a good option. Then he heard someone getting slightly louder than the rest of the crowd. He turned and noticed a girl getting angry. He decided to intervene, an action on the same level as walking into a gunfight to him. Instant suicide.

"Um…" Marcus immediately forgot everything he was going to say. Again with the conversation curse. 'Gah, just shoot me now' was what he wanted to say next but decided against it.

"Any reason why you are shouting at your pokemon?" Marcus asked, immediately regretting it. 'The first thing you say to someone you haven't met, and you immediately question their methods. Wonderful, you are the master of conversations.' The thought circled his head but he pushed it to the side. He couldn't go back in time and stop himself saying that now.

Masuta listened carefully, then turned to Gosuto. The 14 year old was also listening to what Mr. Yukimura said. "Guess I don't count as a 'thing' do I?" Masuta smiled at her younger sister. "Of course you don't. Now, we will meet right here, so go and explore around. Talk to people, and here, have Yurei for a bit." She then drew a small circle with a nearby stick on the ground, and handed a purple pokeball to Gosuto. It comtained Yurei, Gosuto's Chandalure that she had lended to Masuta for the tournament.

Gosuto giggled, let Yurei out, and ran off to chit-chat. Masuta chuckled, then sent out her own pokemon, a Lucario called Ora. "This place is packed, Masuta!" The girl nodded. "Many people are entering. We're gonna have a tough match with everyone, but the sky is the limit for us!" Ora nodded.

Meanwhile, Gosuto and Yurei ran around, then crashed into someone. Well, Gosuto did, anyway. Yurei helped her up, and Gosuto shouted "Watch where your going, idiot!"

((The person Gosuto crashed into is Ari Swift))

Ari Swift
"Wow, That was such a nice speach and all, I just wish I could have seen it," Ari grumbled to himself. Tengu, his Shiftry, did what he could to try to console him, by pating his back. Almost everyone was taller than him, so the only way he knew who was talking was a quick introduction on Adien's part. He did catch some important info., though. Ari started to walk, looking for possible rivals that would take him seriously. Like only one survival item on our choosing. That was going to be hard to choose. Would healing items count as suvival items? what of-----Smack!!!! "what the..."

"Watch where your going, idiot!"

He stood up dazed, Tengu helping him up, and yelled back " Well, wouldn't have to if you didn't run around like a little school girl you nitwit!!!"

Act 1.1: That someone...

Primeria finished her talk between herself and Ester, who laughed weakly at the trouble she was expecting, before the presence of another person had reached Primeria without her knowing.

"Um… Any reason why you are shouting at your pokemon?" Primeria turned towards the voice that had seemingly addressed her. Her eyes scanned the person before her quickly. It was a tall man, certainly much taller than Primeria herself, who had light brown hair to go along with his mildly tanned skin and stocky body. His eyes held an interesting hue of dark emerald green with maybe a hint of hazel flecks in them and wore black jeans with a a grey T-shirt. Primeria wasn't too sure, but the tone of his voice felt... anxious or so she thought.

"...E-Eh? ... ... W-Was I shouting... again?" Primeria asked with a worried look. She wasn't usually loud, but it seemed apparent to others that she was either frustrated or something along that line whenever she was consulting her Pokemon, which of course is not true at all.

"...Yes... I was trying to point that out..." Ester laughed as she sent her message to Primeria. Ester was quite used to it to be exact but she had decided to play along this time.

"Oh... You might want to... talk back to the 'boy'..." Ester shot the "boy" another look as she crossed her arms and held a calm facade under the grin she could not show.

"O-Oh... um... ...," Primeria began to panic as she fumbled for words, "... Please excuse me... ... I wasn't trying to shout at her..." Ester nodded at Primeria's comment to affirm her intentions. "... I was just... talking to her... about not coming out of her Pokeball... during these events... because it might cause trouble to others..." Primeria tried to explain. She usually never let her Pokemon out when events like these were underway as to avoid causing commotion and discord but other than that, she almost always let her Pokemon out as they please, something they appreciate greatly. Primeria brought her hands together loosely in front of herself as she attempted to converse with the person before her.

"... I-If you don't mind me asking... What is your name? ... My name is... P-Primeria... Primeria Sage..."

Gosuto growled, and yelled "Well, you really should pay attention to your surroundings, stupid!!!!" Yurei then noticed Masuta walking over, and she didn't look happy. Besides, they were attracting attention. But Gosuto continued. "And it isn't MY fault that YOU don't pay attention to what is in front of you!!!" "Hush, Gosuto." Masuta snapped before putting her arms on the person's shoulders.

"Gosuto is right. You should have payed attention to what you were doing! AND DON'T MESS WITH HER AGAIN UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET KILLED!!!!" Masuta had always been concerned and protective about her sisters, but this was her being insulted by a stranger!

Ora sent out the other pokemon, and called Yurei over. "We should stop this before things get out of control!" So, Shinwa the Dragonair and Ora walked over to Masuta and pulled her away from the guy. Masuta sighed, then looked over at the person and said "Sorry about that. Sometimes I can get overprotective about my sisters, especially Gosuto." Gosuto nodded, she was sorry too. They just hoped the guy would forgive them.

Ari Swift

He was use to people telling him he should watch were he was going, but a death threat for running into someone surprised him. He almost ran away right thier and then, until Tengu appeared in front of him. Tengu was about to attack, until they both realized her pokemon were keeping the Demon Lady overprotective sister from destroying Ari(It took a Dragonair, Lucario, and a Chandelure!!!!). As she calmed down, he saw that they wore clothing reminisent of clothing he saw in the Kimono Girls theater, and could hardly stay mad as a flood of pre-adventure memories of home bubbled up. Tengu felt about the same about the memories of home, and smiled at the two girls. As they made thier appologies, he decided to return the sentiment.

He sighed and said, "Well, fair enough, and I probally should watch where I am going more, I was just thinking what my survival Item would be. Sorry." He thought, well, guess i found my rival. That guy said we should find rivals, and I could have found worse.

"So, my name is Ari Swift. I meet your younger sister, Gosuto, who I assume is too young for the tournament. What is your name, 'Future Rival'." He jokingly said the last part with a slight smile, hoping to avoid further outburst, and to possiblly make a survival ally if they happen to teleport to the same place. He didn't expect the way to be easy for this land, and if he can make peace with this girl, maybe they can team up for the routes. Of course, he also loved the idea of battling her once in a while.

When the girl in front of him turned to face him, Marcus got a chance to actually look at her. She was short, in fact she looked like she was a lot younger that him. Her hair was far longer than that of anyone else Marcus had seen. She could probably have done with a haircut, and maybe a bit of sun, but Marcus wasn't going to mention it. When her fumbling speech came out it was as though she was even more scared of conversation than himself. The most striking part was her eyes. They were different colours and unnerved Marcus slightly.

"I wonder if somehow all women can't tell how loud they speak." Marcus muttered to himself, remembering his mother. She would often shout without realising that the volume had increased so much. This brought back memories of his possible triumph and the sight of his mother when she was ill. Then the relief when he found out she was okay.

A ball of silver hit Marcus in the small of the back, bringing out of his memories. He had spaced out for a short period of time. Looking down, Marcus discovered what had brought him back to the present. It was Sliver. Rubbing his back, Marcus knelt and put and arm out. Sliver climbed onto it and from there onto Marcus' shoulders. Thankfully, the girl didn't look like she had said anything while Marcus was out of it.

'I need to get better at conversations. Concentration, that is important. Right?' He thought. Just then the girl started to speak again in her slightly fractured way of talking. It was very interesting to see someone that scared of conversation.

"Don't worry about your pokemon being out at a time like this. I do it all the time," Marcus said gesturing to Sliver. He grinned nervously. This wasn't working out quite as well as he had hoped, but it could have gone worse. It had gone a lot worse previously. "Although…if Sliver is here, then Chunky should be awake. I do hope that he woke himself up." Marcus muttered to himself. It was slightly dangerous leaving Chunky asleep in the middle of a bunch of strangers. Maybe Thorn would have been a better choice. Too late now.

"Huh?" Marcus focused his thoughts back on the conversation. He had almost missed what she had said. Ignoring Sliver who was now looking longingly at the bag of pokemon food that Marcus was still carrying, he tried to figure out a proper response.

"Uh…Primeria…nice name. Sure beats mine." He said with a small chuckle. "I am Marcus Romulus Valerius..." Marcus waited for the reply, knowing it would come as it always did.

Jen sighed and walked toward her designated area. These stupid rules were... Stupid. The dark type trainer shouldn't have to put up with this crap now that she was recognized and famous! All her dreams had been fulfilled. Sure, she wasn't champion, but she had been a member of the Elite Four, and one of the toughest trainers in Sinnoh! No one could dispute the power of Dark types now! So... Why had she entered this in the first place? That she could not answer. The first and only thing she could think that she was not giving up was her custom order knife. It was about seven inches long, with a blade that was razor sharp on one side, and a serrated edge on the other. At the base of the handle was a tear drop, and it fit her hand perfectly. She smiled down at Dusk, who was shivering and huddling close to her leg. She looked over and saw Miharu, and sighed, shaking her head. That ***** was here too? Things just got a lot more annoying... And possibly fun. Miharu was one of the toughest and craziest people she had ever met. She wondered vaguely if Miharu would still insist on that stupid pet name. Better not to even talk with her for now.

"Dusk, come here. We're going to walk this way." she murmured to the zorua. Though her hair was a pristine white color, and stood in an odd angle, she could hide in the shadows very well if she so chose, like now. As she slipped easily through the people in the room to the other side, she knew Dusk was following her. The zorua was a genius, and he was one of the only ones that could track her when she was hiding. She sighed and leaned up against the wall, tossing her knife idly and wondering how much her thievery and trickery had rusted in the soft job of being an E4 member.

Mr. Yukimura smiled at the trainers ahead of him before descending from the platform which they all had faced. The rows had disassembled now, and a lot of the contestants were conversing with old friends and new acquaintances alike. However, one tall, awkward-looking boy hadn't moved. Still staring at the stage where the Tournament founder had stood moments before, Avery Flynn was busy embedding the words of the welcome speech to his memory. He had listened with rapt attention, and was determined to get this right. However, the last words of Yukimura's talk had caused laughter amongst a few of the trainers as if they were in on some withstanding joke which, unsurprisingly, Avery hadn't understood.

"May the odds be ever in your favour." That's what he'd said. Avery repeated the words in his mind, forming them soundlessly on his lips. He didn't see what was so funny; if anything, the concept was quite terrifying. They were supposed to enter the rough terrain with nought but one survival tool, and were expected to fend for themselves with only the odds on their side. Avery shook his head with confusion. What was funny about that? Hey, it was probably just one of those circumstances where Avery had misunderstood the joke. It was something he figured he'd be used to by now.

Avery broke out of his reverie to see that he was just about the only one who hadn't moved from his spot. Running a hand through his red hair anxiously, he began to take in his surroundings. He was surrounded by confident trainers, all of whom looked like they had earned their place in the Tournament. He overheard two pompous-looking boys comparing their achievements callously, and was beginning to feel out of place. Everybody seemed so ready. Avery didn't stand a chance.

It was beginning to look like everybody was making allies, and so Avery looked around desperately. He really didn't want to be the only one with no friends when the Tournament began, now did he? As he swung around, a glint of lavender caught his eye. Quite a few yards away from him, a girl who looked as nervous as he felt was speaking into a PokeGear. Avery set himself the goal of befriending her; without setting little goals like this, he'd never make it to the first emblem. He walked on over to her, trying to avoid knocking into any of the much tougher opponents he passed on the way.

Avery didn't look up until he was close to the girl. Trying to think of how he would start the conversation, he slowed his pace as he approached. Finally residing on the good ol' classic "Hi", Avery was ready to be as friendly as he could muster. When he saw that she was already in conversation however, his short-lived confidence was diminished. The brown-haired guy had beaten him to it, and Avery had no idea how to join the conversation. Instead, he hovered aimlessly a few feet away, silently cursing his social shortcomings.

Closing his eyes, he mouthed the words again: "May the odds be ever in your favour."

IC:
Act 1.2: And then there were three...

'Uh… Primeria… nice name. Sure beats mine. I am Marcus Romulus Valerius...' The young man replied after a small chuckle, and Primeria gave a slight bow and nod of her head in response.

"...T-That's also... a nice name. I'm sure... your parents thought well of you." Though she barely knew anything of Marcus, she couldn't help but share her thoughts. Seeing as he made an attempt to talk with her, Primeria assumed he wasn't such a bad person... more or less. Primeria diverted her attention to small Pokemon Marcus had let climb onto his shoulder. It was one she hadn't seen in a very long time.

"... A-Ah... What a cute Eevee you have there..." Primeria glanced at the small Pokemon as memories of the past overtook her for a brief moment, and of her own Eevee she had trained so long ago, who of course eventually evolved into her trusted Umbreon, whom wasn't with her party at the moment. A gentle smile made it's way onto Primeria's face as she slowly waved her right arm at the Eevee in an attempt to catch it's attention, but she had noticed another boy, with his head eyeing the floor for some reason, was approaching their location from behind Marcus. Primeria assumed he was going to come over to talk to the two of them, but the boy, as soon as he lifted his head upwards, suddenly diverged away to the side, which seemed... odd. Maybe he was like her, alone by himself and might of just wanted to talk or maybe make some friends. Primeria wasn't sure what she should do, but then turned her attention back to Marcus.

"... Sorry but,... if you would excuse me..." Primeria tried to not offend Marcus. She walked around Marcus and took a few steps in the direction of the other boy that stopped short of their position. Trying to take this time to get better at socializing, Primeria tried to talk to the boy.

"... ... I... I couldn't help but notice... I-Is something wrong? ... I saw you coming from over there but... y-you stopped here..." Despite her attempt, Primeria still couldn't keep her sentences from fragmenting as usual but continued.

"... If you don't mind... W-Would you like to join us...?" Primeria nervously asked the boy.

((OOC: Personal Computer. Sorry, I forgot that there were two PCs in Pokemon.))

Miharu smirked at Yukimura-san's ending remark. She had read The Hunger Games and understood the joke, despite noticing loads of people who could not. She sighed internally. Did anyone read anymore? The Hunger Games was a masterful book. It was a pity that she couldn't read Catching Fire or Mocking Jay yet. Miharu scowled. She remembered when she had talked about The Hunger Games and how one girl spoiled Mocking Jay for her. She got her revenge at the end though. Pranking was always good for revenge.

Miharu scanned the crowd in order to see if she knew anyone. With a jolt of surprise, she noticed Lance in the crowd. Why would Lance be here? He was still needed on the Indigo Plateau, right? After all, he was the champion of both Kanto and Johto after Red had left for Mt. Silver. Plus, if Lance was there, then maybe Cynthia was here as well.

Miharu continued scanning for people as she walked, but instead of seeing Cynthia, Miharu grew a smirk as she recognized someone. She chuckled inwardly. This will be fun.

Miharu quickly jumped on to the person's back before the other person could react. If the person fell, Miharu was still going to be standing upright.

"Bai-chan!" Miharu exclaimed happily. "I didn't know you were joining!"

OhGodohGodohGodohGod... Avery had been peering at the two trainers with interest when the girl had glanced at him, catching his eye for a split second. She'd seen him looking, and was coming over. Avery stood very still, staring fixedly at his shoes. He didn't want to make a rival. He didn't do well with rivals.

"I... I couldn't help but notice... I-is something wrong?" Despite her soft-spoken voice, Avery flinched when the girl began to talk. He could feel himself getting embarrassed, and so he didn't raise his eyes. "... I saw you coming from over there but... y-you stopped here."
There was a moment of silence. Oh God, does she want me to answer? His brain working overtime, Avery frantically tried to come up with an excuse for coming over and staring at them. Before he could answer however, the girl had spoken again.

"... If you don't mind... W-would you like to join us...?"

Avery looked around wildly. Who, me? The girl was watching him nervously, and Avery forced a smile. He nodded slightly, before finally meeting her gaze. Initially he was taken aback, but tried not to show it in his face. The girl's eyes were heterochromic, and were the most fascinating shades of violet and light blue. Aware that he may be staring, Avery gave another smile and accepted her invitation to join them.

Avery let out a very quiet "Hi" before offering a hand to shake with the guy trainer. Then, thinking better of it, he turned it into a very awkward wave at the last minute. Giving a nervous laugh, Avery spotted the Pokemon perched on the boy's shoulder. He eased up a little; he was in familiar territory now.

"Oh, an Eevee!" Avery breathed, outreaching his arm hesitantly. He patted the pokemon's fur, and turned to its owner. "He's lovely. I never was one for the Eeveelutions though. As useful as they are, I've never really understood the hype, y'know? All a little gimmicky for me."

Avery looked up to see his company looking at him with peculiar interest. His eyes widened as he realised that he may have spoken out of turn. "I- I'm sorry. I didn't mean-" Avery could feel his face burning red, and his eyes dropped to the floor. He hoped that he hadn't offended the trainer; he was always doing that.

Still looking at the floor, Avery decided to change the subject. He held out his hand for real this time.

"I'm Pr-Avery. I'm Avery."

"So I have been told." Was all Marcus had to reply to Primerias remark on his name. He had never really liked it all that much. Whenever another kid had turned up at his parents' parties, they would always laugh at it. Maybe that was just the way of some people. Whatever the case, Marcus had grown up hating the name. It was too old fashioned and too long. Then Marcus noticed Primerias interest in Sliver. Before he could say anything, she had excused herself to talk to some random person who had been standing behind him.

Rather than immediately become irritated at being ignored so quickly, Marcus turned around and waited for her reasoning to become clearer. Sliver let out a quiet little squeak as he always did when he was not comfortable. The Eevee began shifting his weight until eventually he was more comfortable. Unfortunately the conversation had moved on while Marcus was paying attention to Sliver. Apparently a comment had been directed at him. Marcus only heard the second half.

"Uh…What?" Marcus stumbled, trying to retrace the conversation, attempting to find a place where he felt more comfortable. Then he noticed Sliver nose the strangers hand. Then Sliver dropped from Marcus' shoulders onto the ground and began to rub against the persons leg.

"Oh...How nice. It seems Sliver likes you." Marcus said smiling. Anyone Sliver liked couldn't be all that bad. It almost felt as though Marcus was the social master among the three of them. It was a weird feeling. Not particularly reassuring but less awkward for him.

"Nice to meet you Avery. Sliver is the silver Eevee who seems to really like you and I am Marcus." Marcus said, hoping to make things get smoother by speaking more confidently than he felt.

Dusk growled faintly, and Jen barely had time to turn her head before she collapsed under the weight of the one person that could be considered her friend. In short, it was Miharu, the person she despised the most. Funny how that was a friend.

"Damn it, you stupid woman! I'm not the little girl you trained a long time ago! Now get the hell off of me before I slice your leg open!" Jen growled angrily as Dusk barked timidly.

(Yay references.)

Miharu grinned and patted Bai-chan's head. She did, however, comply.

"Aw, I love you too, Bai-chan!" replied Miharu. "I'm going to assume that the survival item of your choosing with be a knife, eh?"

Miharu started to scan the crowd. "Do you know if Cynthia is here? I saw Lance, but I haven't been able to see Cynthia. Is the rest of the Elite Four of Sinnoh coming? I mean, they'd probably be invited, but I'm sure that there is a lot of trainers that would probably want to challenge the Elite Four..."

Miharu smiled at Dusk. "Hi, Dusk-chan! Is Bai-chan annoying you as much as usual?"

Thalia Arkuna listened politely to Adrien Yukimura as he explained the tournament. Most of it was the basic knowledge she was sure everyone here knew, as they had decided to join, but the part about only one survival item caught Thalia off guard. The fact that it was survival also shocked her. I guess it made sense, it just hadn't occurred to her. Well, here's where five years of stowing away and scavenging pays off she thought with a smirk. As he finished his speech, she clapped halfheartedly before wandering off. She was impressed with the diversity of people there. Tall and short, young and old, strong and not so strong, from all regions. She thought she had even seen the red hair of Alder. If he was there she would surely have to battle him.

She wandered to the back of the crowd for no particular reason. She followed the example of another boy who was feeding his pokemon. She called out the other five pokemon of her team, emolga already on her shoulder. After they finished the food, Thalia called them back. She wouldn't want something unfortunate happen because of her pokemon.

She found the judges to check in her survival item. She figured her machete would be the most useful thing she had survival-wise. She didn't have personal items. She preferred to leave the past in the past. Of what good would they be? After that, she got her pack, a green one. She decided to heed the suggestion of Mr. Yukimura and find a friend or a rival. She wandered the crowd for a bit. It seemed that most people had already found a rival. She had instead spent time on getting her pack, darn! She was watching an argument between two people who seemed too young to bee in the tournament and not looking where she was going when she bumped into someone.
She intantly backed away a step or two. She had hit a girl around her same age. She had dirty blond hair, a skirt, and a tynamo-based bag. "Oh! I'm so sorry!"

Prologue: Part 1
Who Should We talk To?

"May the odds be ever in your favor." A saying from one of the best teen books of the decade as well as a perfectly fitting term for the tournament. How far would the reality of the saying actually go though?

Jason sighed as he petted his three quadrupedal Pokemon, all in the time that Adrien Yukimura finished his speech, ending with the now-famous saying. Jason was at the newly created Tabi Tournament. It was a tournament in his native region of Orre that apparently didn't test battle skills, but rather survival skills. All around him teens and adults were conversing, boasting their battle prowess or simply making new friends. Some were fighting, a bit too harshly some may say, and others seemed to be barely mumbling.

"Quite a crowd here we got," he told his three Pokemon. His Mightyena, Bliss simply barked in return and nosed his side. Harmony, an Espeon, and Shadow, his Eevee, were simply looking at other groups. "We can talk to the others in a bit," Jace told his Pokemon, "but right now we need to find something that will come in handy." The Pokemon gave him a disappointed look but they listened and turned to him as he spread out some supplies.

First on his list of items was his trusty knife... Well, maybe not that trusty, he thought. Next was his sketchbook and a set of drawing pencils. "You think this will be seen as something that will help us survive?" he asked jokingly.

Each of the Pokemon shook their heads and Jace started a pile of things he could keep with him. Carrying on, he took some food from his pack and moved it to a pile that he wouldn't bring. After all, why would he need food if they give you some... Well, he thought they would. Finally, his last item was his Portable PC. Something that he could use well. He would be able to switch Pokemon quickly and even Skype my uncle and friends when I could.

"So, let's see. Which should I bring? The knife that I could use for the wilderness, or the PC for battle and social purposes?" He looked to his Pokemon for support but even they were confused to which he should end up bringing. Again Jace sighed and then started the classic Eenie, Meenie, Miney, Mo.

"... And you are not it," he said as he pointed towards the knife. "Well, looks like we're bringing my PC." After picking up his stuff and putting it in his bag, he continued. "We'll put the stuff up to the judges in the bit. For now, let's find someone to talk to." Instantly, Bliss and Harmony went walking towards the quieter group while Shadow ran over to a group of girls talking to each other, a Zorua at their feet. The older two Pokemon looked at him as if telling him to make a choice.

"Shadow," he called after the small Eevee. "Come over to this group, we can talk to them in a bit."

The Pokemon turned to look at me as I said this and ended up tripping over his own feet as he did so. He quickly stood up again and instead headed towards the group Jason's other Pokemon chose and, to be more exact, the silver Eevee.

Jason stifled a laugh as the Pokemon crashed into the other of it's species. He ran after, quickly saying, "Sorry about that. This little bugger is just a little hyper today." Bliss and Harmony came right behind him and helped the other Pokemon up, though they to had a look of amusement in their eyes. "I'm Jason by the way. Jason Moral."
