If the United States Presidential Election was tomorrow, and you were able to vote and were required to vote, who would you vote for and why?

I'd vote Barack Obama in a heartbeat.

My view has always been that each side of government hires people with economic degrees and are more or less equally competent to run the country financially - and no matter which side you choose, there will be people *****ing about how they're doing it the wrong way. So it's the social issues that put me over the top.

Barack Obama has shown with his views on social issues that he is living in the 21st Century, and is most likely to run the country that way. I would have voted for him anyway, but his recent announcement on same-sex marriage solidified that tenfold. I could never vote Republican; they can't be trusted outside of 1965.

Anyway if this gets too discussiony we'll move it to OCD, but until then poll away!

I'd vote Obama purely because of the fact that Mitt Romney and the majority of the Republican party are utter nutjobs and are in fact a breach of the space-time continuum; they belong in 60 years in the past, how did they get out? No, if I was American, I would not vote Republican unless they smartened up and got their act together. I'm in no way saying Obama is perfect, but compared to Mitt Romney? Yeah, Mitt's ****ed.

A two party system is a total joke, especially like in this case when, to the average wannabe left wing extremist like me, one of the two sides is about equally evil as Cthulhu. Well, I'm not that well informed, but of the things I know, I don't like a single one. So Obama would be.

Not American, but I'd vote Obama. Easily.

Just hope he's a bit more of himself this time around, should he get elected. He bent over backwards for the Republicans way too many times.

Decrease military spending, push for universal healthcare, fix the tax problem. Reform things.

Well, I'd also say the Democrats are the more economical of the two at the moment. Bush so did not fiscally run the country competently.

I voted for Obama last time around and I'll do it again.

For me it's a lesser-of-two-evils thing. Not because I think both parties are the same (they aren't), but because Obama could do so much better than he is doing. Voting Republican these days is like voting for the 1950s to come back.

Obama, the thing people have to realize is that the First Past the Post system and Single Member Districts with the Presidential System forces a 2 Party System in this country.

The Two parties are a permanent coalition which is why it might seem that they are "weak" at times as they try to cobble the votes necessary for legislation.

And then we get to the whole Filibuster stuff that's been invoked so many times the past few years.

TL;DR Obama-Dem Straight ticket all the way.

Obama.

Because Waluigi isn't on the ballot and Obama doesn't frighten me as much as Romney.

Well, it doesn't look like Mitt will do well with the youth Pokefanatic population.
I'M ALONE D:
I don't usually get into politics, because I don't know very much about it, but I love Mitt Romney. I really hope he wins. Also, if you haven't seen this, you really should. ESPECIALLY ALL YOU WOMEN WHO LIKE OBAMA.
Make sure you watch the vid too.

Obama has had four years to prove what he is capable of doing as our president. Four years is plenty of time to show what you've got going and planned/planning to do, so I see no real incentive to vote for him based on that. Obamacare, a mediocre stimulus, some bailouts and a few LGBT-related issues aren't enough for many people and definitely not enough for me. Personally, LGBT issues aren't my main focus point this election, but if future remembers him for anything (besides being the first half-African American president), it will be trying to further the equality of LGBT people.

Romney is the best candidate for the GOP to collect more independent and Democrat votes. He may not be the best for the GOP-base to rally those hardcore rights, but they will vote for him over Obama any day of the week, guaranteed. I think Romney has the best chance against Obama, as compared to Paul, Santorum or Gingrich. I think he'll have to fight back more against claims of hypocrisy, but if he can show up and perform well against Obama in debates and clarify his exact positions, it's his election for the taking.

Paul is a little too far out there for most GOP voters to vote for him. He can't collect many Democrat votes either. His views on war and drugs don't line up with GOP voters and I think that's what would kill him were he the nominee for the GOP.

Obama hasn't been perfect - far from it. Granted, he's had to fight a congress that's been abysmally ineffective at best, mostly because of right-wing nutjobs who have made it their goal not to work with Democrats for the better of the people, but to stall and block legislation left and right just to make sure that Obama fails. He actually has a fairly impressive list of accomplishments: ordering the mission to kill OBL, ending the war in Iraq, passing equal pay legislation, and healthcare reform (even if it IS watered-down and far from perfect). But still, he made way too many campaign promises that he was unable to keep, not that I really expected him to accomplish all of his grand visions.

But I'd vote for him any day over Romney. Democrats aren't anywhere near perfect, but the only way I can see anyone justifiably voting Republican is if they are adamantly against women's health (I'm strongly anti-abortion, don't get me wrong, but the GOP go far and beyond that), assistance programs for the poor, and unemployment benefits, and in favor of corporations and millionaires getting tax breaks and lining their pockets, LGBT people being treated as second-class citizens, insurance companies having free reign to deny coverage as they please, and starting wars all over the globe.

Given the choice, I'll definitely take another four years of Democratic leadership, and hopefully Obama will stick to his Democratic roots and won't be Republican-lite once he won't have to win re-election again.

I'd vote, and will vote, for Romney. Klippy said all I wanted to say about Obama and why I wouldn't vote for him. There's no point in being his little echo.

From the little I know about politics, I'd vote for Obama

To be honest, Mitt Romney strikes me as being too focused on business and not government. Obama seems to be doing a pretty good job too me, plus Mitt Romney has shown how he handles power as in with Massachusetts.

Plus he just appears very hypocritical/willing to change as the wind blows.

I would vote for Obama since both candidates are controlled by wall street donations, but Mitt Romney received nearly twice as much as Obama has, Obama is in favor of LGBT rights (Mitt Romney is against them), and Obama doesn't want to engage Iran in war(Mitt Romney does).

I would rather see someone like Gary Johnson in there, but the chances are slim.
