Mystland: The Lost Guardian

Story
It was never meant to be discovered. A single survivor in a plane crash was all it took. Now Mystland is being overrun by mad scientists who want nothing more than to use the inhabitants for their own gain. But they've gone to far and now the island is dying. It won't be long before it plummets to the ocean floor thousands of feet below. When that happens, it's all over. The myths of today truly will be nothing more than myths.
Many of the inhabitants still have hope though. They believe the Guardian of Mystland will return to save them. Return from where, you may ask? No one knows. Not a trace of it has been found since the scientists came. The inhabitants believe his disappearance is connected to the dying island.
Plot
Over the course of the past 10 years, children have been disappearing from all over the world. No one knows what happens to them, only that they are never heard from again. The culprits? Scientists. They abduct young children right from under their parents' noses and whisk them away to their laboratory on Mystland. Here they are experimented on and turned into living weapons by using the DNA of the island's inhabitants to replicate their powers. The plan was to build an army of them to self off to the highest bidder, but first they had to find a way to control their test subjects.
Unfortunately, or fortunately if you're looking at it from the test subjects' point of view, they escaped and disappeared into the surrounding areas, blending in quite well with the inhabitants of the island.
Where You Come In
You are one of the test subjects who has recently escaped from the laboratory. You start out with only one goal: don't get caught. However, this changes when you hear about how Mystland is dying and that the only way to save it is to find the Guardian of Mystland. Whether grudgingly or willingly, you decide to search for the Guardian, even if it's just to get back at the scientists for taking away your life.
You may have once been human, but you're not anymore; or at least, not completely.
Mystland
Mystland is a somewhat large island floating in whirlpool a couple thousand feet beneath the Pacific Ocean. How the rivers are fed is a mystery even to the inhabitants. It is hidden from view by a veil of water that doesn't allow any on the outside to see in but allows the inhabitants to see out as if there was nothing there at all. There is a large assortment of creatures living on Mystland, some heard of only in myths, some never heard of at all.
