For me, it's death. How can my life just end? What happens after I die? Is it a neverending sleep, is there an afterlife? How can my consciousness and subconsciousness just stop existing at any given time?

The fact that Hollywood green-lighted Jack and Jill, for starters. What else? Religion, yes. I'm fine with religion itself, believe what you wanna believe, go ahead. Do what you want! If you feel like there truly is a god out there, or gods, then by all means, worship! Go to church! Preach on the street! Just don't expect to convert me to your way of thinking. I've never been able to understand the idea of subscribing my life and my supposed afterlife to some intangible, unfathomable, improbable deity high up in the big blue sky. I want to live my life the way I want to, whether it be going against your almighty god's Ever-So Holy Big Book of Morals or whatever. Don't get me wrong, I want to be a good person, but I'll define what makes me a good person, thanks.

Same for me, death. I mean obviously I can understand what it is and why, just the idea that your heart could stop and you just disappear from here. Everything around you will go on and you are gone. When you die you're just gone and never to return, because I don't believe in afterlife. Like where do you go? In space? I imagine going into space, and for eternity and eternity you're just GONE. Ugh it's so strange and it is not something I'm looking forward to either.

I don't understand music. I like music, I listen to it a lot, but I don't understand the concepts that go into it. Tones, key changes, and things I can't even remember the names of, all of them go over my head. People try to explain to me, but I'm like a 2 y/o. They even give me examples. "Listen here where the somethingsomething does somethingsomething," and I don't hear a difference. I always feel like there is something I'm missing out on, like a colorblind person or something.

What did it feel like before you were born? That's what death is.

For me it has to be religion. I just don't understand how some people can believe in something there isn't much evidence for. I mean, there's no evidence that there's an afterlife. Yet people still base their entire lives on the belief that their kind heartedness and good lifestyle will grant them access to an afterlife full of everything they've ever dreamed of.
Don't get me wrong, I admire these people who have such faith in something and have something that can keep them going constantly. I just don't understand how someone can do it.

Certain concepts in Pokemon or involving the fandom.

Other than that, I've never understood the supernatural. Concepts like fantasy, spirits, magic, or other things that haven't been proven by science just seem to completely fly right over my head. Of course, I can't say I've had any interest to study such things, but that doesn't change the fact that they're strange and unknown concepts to me.

I really don't understand the 6th dimension.

Other than that, if I don't understand it, I'll stop making myself think because it's none of my business.

But if you really want to, it's why people don't respect each other, especially religious people.

EDIT: I was ninja'd by my pair, and he asked pretty much the same thing as me. Wow.
What is at the end of the universe? I don't get it. Is there just a blank nothingness? Does another universe begin? Same thing with the end of a Black Hole. What is there? A void? An alternate dimension? I have a bunch of questions like these about space, and I love to think about them. I don't just push them aside, because they fascinate me, as does most of astronomy. The cosmos are so amazing to me, hence the username.
I'm a silhouette, asking every now and then
Is it over yet? Will I ever feel again?
I'm a silhouette, chasing rainbows on my own
But the more I try to move on, the more I feel alone
So I watch the summer stars to lead me home.

Why are people mean? Why can't everyone just be nice? Why can't people wait til marriage? Why do my cousins get gifts I asked for? Why does no one care when I'm hurt? or sad, or angry? Why do people go through extreme lengths to get back at me for snarkiness, and taking anger at the wrong person? Why doesn't anyone love me? I'm 22... :[ Why does no one thank me or appreciate my kindness when I hold doors open? [Questions I wanted to ask in HS.^]--Rhetorical... Now. Why am I still single? Will I ever have a boyfriend?

I understand why people follow and subscribe to organised religion, at least in its abstract. It provides a sense of relief that something happens to you after you die, that life has inherent 'meaning', there's someone always watching over you etc. I don't understand how that nice theory can be corrupted by dogma and rules and what was once a nice, free ideal can get turned into... well, what organised religion has become today. I guess I don't understand how people who claim to want to spread love and happiness to people end up, well, not doing that at all, for the most part!

Death is a very common one for people not to understand, because it is also difficult for anyone to get their head around it.

Another was what happened before the creation of the universe as we know it. I mean before light, planets, matter and so on. Just trying to think and picture that is mad.

"But I don't understand, I don't understand how this all happens, how we go through this, I mean I knew her, and now she's...there's just a body, and I don't understand how come she just can't get back in it and not be dead anymore. It's stupid! It's mortal! and it's stupid! And Xander's crying and not talking, and I was having fruit punch and I was thinking that well Joyce will never have fruit punch, ever, and she'll never have eggs, or yawn, or brush her hair, not ever, and no one will explain to me why."

- Anya, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I wasn't going to answer this thread with death because mostly everybody else has and I was going to try and think of something different, but I've recently had cause to think about death a little and it's truly mind-boggling... mostly for the reasons Anya has stated above. It's just hard to think about from the point of view of "they were walking and moving around and could control their body before, why can't they now?"

Along with death, a big thing I can't understand is memory loss.
I mean, it's kind of in a similar ballpark, like how could one forget something they remembered yesterday? (and for death, how could a human be alive and thinking and then just...not be.)
And then you always feel like you would remember forgetting what you forgot but of course you can't because... you forgot it.
Also, consciousness. I can't wrap my head around that, I mean why are humans able to have higher levels of thought and chickens aren't? Or are they, and we just don't know about it? Are we truly conscious?

Abstract math.. I seriously do not get it at all.
This. This so much. I am mathematically challenged. Ridiculously so. People that are good at maths amaze me. Probably why I've dated so many engineers tbh.

Along with the death theme, I honestly don't know why someone would want to take their own life. I'm sorry if it sounds insensitive, and I realize death is actually a viable option when faced with extreme pain. But in many situations, suicide is a result of social pressures and struggles, more specifically, something that can be fixed. You only have one life, there is no evidence of an after life, why not try to turn things around and make the best of it? There is so much to live for, even if you don't realize it.

My Dad and I were talking about 1984 and I remember many instances where people committed suicide to avoid extreme torture. If you are absolutely sure the ensuing pain is inevitable and unbearable I understand why you would kill yourself. But in many cases, the problem is something social or mental, which can be treated. I guess I cannot judge when I have not felt the emotional or mental pain that they feel, but from my point of view, I just can't understand why anyone would commit suicide.

I dunno if I'm strange, but death is fine, and I don't really worry myself about what happens after (I'd like to believe that this life isn't it, after that nothing, more a reincarnation or replay of sorts... Like reruns of Frasier)

I suppose I can never understand the concept of long complex computer stuff, all of the algorithms. I just can't get why it does millions of processes so quickly...
